I am confuzzled too because I am not 100% sure how it works with search engines but I know it is used to help rather than hinder. And Heidi is all about the money. If tippy was getting fame on the day she was doing her deposition she would have figured out how to use it for cash gain for sure.

Remember the spike in hits on the kk website that day? A lot of folks saw the story and googled looking for it. If they forgot the diet name or googled kimkiMs like tippy called it they might get misguided. But if they remembered her name the more times it appears on the internet the more likely something would be found for her.

Again I am more thinking out loud here than anything. I have no excuse other than being tired LOL. I called one of my techie pals but he is out tonight so hopefully he will call me back tomorrow and explain it to my feeble brain in a way that makes sense.

it is possible it was done as a negative but knowing Heidi she would have wanted to use the opportunity for money. I mean look at her revenue the month the ww cover came out. Over a million. A tv show even if it is negative is going to bring in desperate souls right?

Don't worry about being confuzed as I am not really sure what I am coming up with here yet

It could be done this way:

Heidi knows that the show is airing and that tippy will be on it. So she plants Tippy's name on thoselinks and more so that tippy's name appears on a lot of web sites although bogus ones. Then as the show airs across the country people google her name or google kimkins. Now her name is on the kk site as pr director so those sites with tippy's name on them add weight like back links.

Sort of like if you google george bush you get the famous one first because his name is on so many web sites, right?

OR someone knows what is on the show and guesses the keywords people will use and adds them on their bogus sites for page rank weight.
For example the day the iPhone launched if you set up a bunch of fake backlinks with the words Iphone and free you would get zillions of hits because everyone is googling it and it is popular.

Now this is half guess and half applying the miniscule knowledge I have of seo (search engine optimization)

Heidi knows a fair bit about it based on what I have seen posted here in the way of obscure ezine links etc etc. Those all help her site move to the top of the category. So I am guessing at some point someone (brandon? the dying tech guys?) added those links just before the bombs dropped on the 12th.

Again this is 75% assumption and a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

I once had a guy do that kind of linking for a web site I worked on and we rocked in the search engines until he disappeared and the momentum he built was lost, that is the only time I have seen that kind of thing used before but it was exactly the same style.

Did this make any sense?

Ok -I got the first point about googling after the show and understood that. But you would think if she was trying to get business for kimkins and or help her ranking she would:
1) Would have linked Jeannie Baitinger's name at least once to Kimkins.
OR
2) Kimmer could have used her ole name a long time ago- Kimmer,or Heidi Diaz, has got to be googled a lot after this thread, with us searching and of course all the news shows about "the Kimmer"...much more than Jeannie Baitinger I would think.

I do understand you better now and it may be a combination of things. It still feels malicious in the way it was done with her name, those sites and how Kimmer has never done that with her own name to increase ranks. That skank.

If the only place it appears is one or two sites it is not as good as if it appears in dozens or hundreds of places. Again if you google a service you are more likely to get a large national chain first then smaller local businesses because of the number of locations etc.

It is like what was in the signature we were all looking at yesterday if you remember. Same idea.

Again I can kind of picture it being done both for a boost and to detract so I am not really clearing anything up here. We need a 14 year old with a hot myspace page to explain it

Yup, it does look malicious. I just don't know enough about it.

It is very weird. My only other encounter with that type of spamming was very helpful to the website in question and I didn't understand it then and still don't. We need to bump this for the techie internet savvy day crew LOL. And feel free to argue with me cuz I am, as I said more htinking out loud than giving any valuable info

OH, I'm utterly disgusted at the video of her deposition.

I love how her excuse for using fake pictures was a desire to be anonymous and totally glossing over the fact that she was committing fraud, and just being so nonchalant about it. Disgusting.

OK let's try this theory.

I launch ketosis oasis and I get my pages up and write my phony reviews on ezine and other diet forums and ask my self questions as a sock puppet and get a buzz going on the 'net.

Now if all the links to my site are from weight loss and health bulletin boards and no where else is the term ketosis oasis found then I make a little ripple.

But if the term ketosis oasis shows up in random weird chat and bulletin boards and online social networking communities no matter in what context (cuz the google spiders don't read they just look for what appears to be the term used in postings) then it appears that ketosis oasis is more important than it is because all those disconnected sites are showing the term. Even if it isn't a link to www.ketosisoasis dot com just the term becomes more common and more popular therefore more important.

But you are all right, why jeannie baitinger not heidi k diaz UNLESS maybe tippy was positioned to take over and kimmer was going to retire in the little house with the hot tub. So to keep the revenue flowing set her up as the new kimmer saviour to the low carb world??
