Jen: I'm glad you posted your questions and we welcome you to this thread. However, Christin is a friend of many of us on this board and has taken many hours out of her life to fight Kimkins. She admits she was desperate to lose weight (as many of us on the board). She made a mistake (like many of us have), and she is trying to rectify this. She is doing this in a very admirable way in my opinion.

Who knows what Kimmer is recommending today..She seems to change her plans/her mind/ depending on how the wind is blowing. She has absolutely NO nutrition background, so she has no authority for any plan.

The plan is a scam..whether it costs you $60 or nothing. It is a very dangerous diet because of it's lowfat/lowcarb content.

I so agree with you Carolyn! And this diet gets its hooks into your immune system (for lack of a better term) so it takes awhile to feel the negative effects. You dont feel too bad at first or at least I didnt. Oh and I got the book Natural Health & Weight Loss by Barry Groves. This sounds VERY doable! I started today. I do so love my coffee cream!!

Yes, we've put a definite crimp in Heidi's style and possibly future. We've had new members join here and start learning to let go of their intense pathological fear of food. But let's not forget that, due to postings here, Heidi listened and instituted changes in Kimkins that can only lead to benefits for her remaining members who have been poisoned against this site. Whether they realize it or not, we have tried to keep them healthier. Those who slavishly follow Heidi's supposed example are still very much at risk, but ones who follow the plan as now written may not suffer such severe consequences. So yes, we do worry about adults who choose to eat this way - they are our fellow sufferers from the scourge of being obese in a fat-phobic society. I just hope that our postings here will translate into better action there.

And the second image in the profile shots are me pulling my pants tight across my front so you can see where my pants stop and my big ole belly starts.

I can assure you that any blurring around edges is a function of taking the image to low resolution cuz if I was gonna retouch this or scale it disproportionately...you would not be able to tell! I'm realllllyyyyyy good!

Even if nothing else had been accomplished by these threads, I want to thank you all for saving me from Kimkins! I've been stalled for a year, and I was actually giving serious consideration to trying that madwoman's so-called 'diet', even though my doctors had cautioned me long ago not to go below 1000 calories/day!

So, thank you all for that!

Hi Poot. Let me just say that you look A LOT smaller than Heidi's P.I. pix. And you've got a waist! (At least in frontal pix.) Unless my scales lie as bad as Heidi, I weigh a lot less and have a similar ...profile? I still ask hubby how many toes I have.

But after you heal from your medical intervention and start feeling healthy, I think you'll see some of that excess weight fall off w/o dieting at all. Health does that to you. All the best, Poot, and we'll see you Fri.

JuliaL what I don't understand about all the people who followed Kimmer from LCF to her new site and did the Kimkins thing is this. We all warned them. We did. Over and over and over again in our debates with Kimmers, personally and with them. We argued with them about the ill-effects they would suffer. That is why Kimkins will continue to get new members and continue. Memories are short but losing weight isn't quick...usually. Unless you do Kimkins, consequences be dam*ed.

Oh and also I was flamed for even daring to give advice on eating because of my inability to lose weight. :-/ So in some ways, I agree with Woo. I respect what these people are trying to do now to warn others of the dangers. But in reality we tried to do the same and were told we were crazy and misguided. So what do you do when someone reaps what they sow?? What sympathy do you feel for them??? As a compassionate person I feel badly for them. But I also didn't invest much in worrying about their welfare cuz they got the warnings and still decided they knew better than the person giving the advice. So be it. It was their decision to make.

Also Julia, you know I'm a great admirer of yours and have been for some time. But I don't agree that one wrong makes a right. I believe three rights make a left. I don't think it's fair to criticize the Woo for speaking what is in her heart. We all have a right to express our feelings about this and censuring or shaming someone for daring to go against the norm is NO BETTER than all the Kimkins followers who were blindlessly, mindlessly, fearlessly, relentlessly following Kimkins when we were shouting and crying for them not to take that route, the route to danger. Acceptance without judgement or condemnation must start somewhere.

I believe other fat people who are just as desperate will ignore the warnings of all the anti-Kimkins people out there and just do it because I saw the same thing happen with ephedra and Phen fen. They didn't care about the consequences. They needed the help and were desperate. The same thing is happening to a large extent with weight loss surgeries. And as soceity adds to their pressure by assessing fat taxes and fat stigmas there will be an explosion of sickness our health industry is ill-prepared to deal with. They only think the toll placed on it by diabetes 2 and heart disease is bad...it will be nothing compared to the other crisis.

To add to this I think a lot of people also think "it won't happen to me, I'm tough I can handle it" etc etc

I used to be just like this especially when younger. That is one thing that worries me the most as most young people won't think of the consequences in regards to things like this and its pretty normal, doesn't make them stupid or ignorant it is just the way most tend to be at that age. The worst bit is, at that age they are even more vulnerable and more likely to develop eating disorders. Plus if you read through enough of Kimmer's old posts she comes across as very convincing, I am sure if I was new to all this and desperate to lose weight when I first started researching her posts I would have been sucked in too and I don't consider myself a stupid person.

At the same token I am sure not everyone involved were just sucked in and some new better from the beginning. Tippy springs to mind

I just want to comment - Kimmer's week 5 only shows a 2 pound loss from last week. That doesn't sound like fast we
