Kimkinites have posted here. And yes, we even sided with SingingLass (a Kimkins administrator and Kimmer-prop) when she got nasty and threatening calls. We agreed it was wrong. We let her come here and vent and sympathized. Others have offered dissent, but just cause the opinion dissents doesn't mean it gets to stand there, all shiny and without a countering view.

No one gets a free pass, not even prime blogger Ducky (who was called out for some stuff).

Side note: You know what makes me really sad, is going back and reading baby phats posts I saw the challenges she was in with kimmer. I read posts from people who were so happy to be losing. Then go to read their most recent posts, many of them haven't been here in years, and their last posts were desperate. "Why am I not losing anymore, why did I gain all the weight I lost back when all I tried to do was add back just a few carbs." That is so sad. They had no idea, because they weren't diet gurus that her diet was full blown bs and a recipe for weight gain. One woman lost all her weight, got to goal and gained it all back and then some. Now that is just sad. All the while kimmer ate sugar cookies. It breaks my heart.

I think those who come into the thread like that figure they'll try to confuse the issue and stir the pot to get us to lash out irrationally. It didn't work, at least not to the extent hoped, and the responses certainly were rational.

I still do not understand anyone who can defend anything related to KK, blame the victims of the scam, and then try to call into question the motivations and intelligence of the victims and the supporters of the victims. *shakes head*

And, stating that using the factual term that Heidi is a "lying liar who lies" is immature? I laugh at that! That's a tactic my teenagers use at times. It just shows me who is truly the mature party.

While we're on the subject of imagining things - it occurred to me that Heidi's lawyer might have suggested she gather proof that it was personal vendettas and hate that was the motivation for so much anti-Kimmer stuff. Hello all,

I've been coming to this board for a few years, virtually always as just a lurker. I read Kimmer's posts "back in the day" but never considered trying her approach, as it just seemed too restrictive. I was fascinated by her writing style, though, which seemed lively, succinct, and flavored with a good dose of self-righteousness.

I've been following the whole Kimmer debacle over the last several months, and I am glad that her fraudulent ways have been outed, especially since they resulted in many people following a dangerous diet.

I do have two comments that I would like to add to the multitude that have already been offered.

1) In some ways, these Kimmer threads remind me of a 1982 John Carpenter film called 'The Thing' (a reworking of a 1950's film of the same name). In the film, an alien released from ancient ice in Antarctica terrorizes a group of researchers in residence there, because it is able to assume the form of any human. No one can tell who is human--and who may be alien. The same is unfortunately true here. We don't know for sure which posts are by 'genuine' people trying to investigate Heidi and which may have been written by 'trolls' or 'sock puppets' or Heidi herself. At the end of The Thing, almost everyone is dead, and the only two people left silently watch each other, standing well apart with weapons drawn--because either one could be an alien. They are alive, but they can no longer connect with one another. To keep these 'Kimmer fascination' threads vibrant and welcoming, I think we need to strike a careful balance between kindness/warmth--and skepticism/suspicion. Babyphat may be a troll or a sock puppet, but don't we have to give people the benefit of the doubt? Babyphat's comments may not have been phrased in the most civil way possible (which is part of the reason she was criticized, I think)--but isn't debate always healthy in a place that values reason and the exchange of ideas?

2) I actually agree with Babyphat about Heidi being a snake oil saleswoman. I think we need to acknowledge that we are all vulnerable to a variety of 'snake oil' pitches because we want to believe in the 'self-transformations' that consumer culture offers so tantalizingly: new weight loss plans, money making schemes, make up regimens, etc. Clearly Heidi took this to an extreme by cleverly perpetuating a reprehensible fraud over an extended period. But her fraud worked because of our wish to believe. We must do our best to be cautious and use careful reasoning/common sense, ESPECIALLY when we are feeling at our most desperate.

This can be an emotional issue. Facts is facts. Some who appear to be troll-like may just be trying to reconcile their past actions to the facts.

If any questioning poster is Heidi, so what? (OK, besides the fact that she'd be breaking the TOS) We always need to state the facts and remain civil.

Hey guys, quick question. Has anyone received their refund from Kimkins? I know a bunch of folks were refusing to accept them when they were received, but I had to accept it because money is very tight for me right now.

But this is interesting. I just tried to go to the Kimkins site and when I enter the URL and click enter, a box pops up that says, "_LOGIN_BLOCKED." I'm not trying to login, just view the front page. Hmmm.

I'm going to try clearing my cache and cookies and see if it just has my username and password saved and it's trying to take me to the site while I'm still logged in. If that doesn't work, then...could my IP be blocked? That would make things interesting and make me wonder what's up.

Just seeing if anyone else has had this issue.

This thread is 10 segments long. The issue has been debated as nauseum in those 10 threads. The debate led to research. Research led to uncovering the true extent of the fraud. Uncovering the fraud led to civil action and we hope criminal action, and cleanup action over at KK. Civil action seems to be leading to more fraud over there.

We are way passed the debate stage. There is no debating the unhealthiness of the plan, the potential health risks, or the fraud committed by Heidi Diaz. Those are facts that have been exposed.

For the sake of our sanity and in order not to get our threads closed permanently for being drawn off topic, can we all agree that if someone comes in here NOW, after everything that has happened to this point, and wants to debate or question the motivation behind what has happened, we just walk away from it and don't answer?

That is not an 'oops - my bad'. That is a crime.

Even if she had regained it all since the magazine came out, that in itself would speak a warning about the rebound gain of someone who has damaged her metabolism severely, maybe beyond repair, with Kimkins.

It appears she started losing when the PI pics outed her.

It is not easy for anyone to lose a lot of weight and maintain. I know that.

Yet, quite a few people here on this site and at other good low-carb sites have done it the right way.

I hope it goes as well for those of us who have done Kimkins --- but, that's not what I have seen so far.

At this point, what difference does the motivation make? Truth is still truth, fraud is still fraud~ Even if the initial reasons for starting this investigation on Kimkins were (or still are) for less that altruistic reasons, it is still a legitimate issue~ had this been nothing but 'sour grapes' the whole thing would have died out months (threads) ago.

Someone coming into these threads now for the purpose of challenging the motivation of the researchers is *a day late and a dollar short* to use an old expression~ Just a smokescreen designed to confuse the issue.

Baby Phat wants us to consider our own involvement in this whole fiasco.

You can spin this to various commentaries....how we as a society are suckers or how we are just as responsible for being duped by snake oil charmers as the very snake, etc. However, in the end, that doesn't abdicate Heidi Diaz from fraud. All roads lead back to her and her sugar cookies.

Since Baby Phat wants to get Biblical on us and selectively using a passage to support her claim, let me add one of mine: remember EYE FOR AN EYE? (Exodus 21:23)

Does that mean we should poke out one of Heidi's eyeballs? OH YESSS!!! Okay, I was just kidding...my point is, the laws of this country are predicated upon this scripture, in addition to the commandments given to Moses.

So, in answer to Baby Phat's plea for self reflection, other than personal jabs here and there directed at Heidi Diaz, the only difference I see between our code of ethics/morality is that Baby Phat is using it to judge us and we are using it to see justice done.
