This WAS great!! and we did get to see Tippy's spelling of NUTRITIONALIST on air..She said it several times, too!!
Hopefully, the bariatic doctor will think twice about getting aboard the KK's train.. TT was really nodding and agreeing with the nutritionist..I wonder what Kimmer thinks of that. TT was telling Kimmer that "SHE" came in to save the plan..because Kimmer was so incompetent!! Deni and Christin did great, great, great!!!! |

What happened to Dr. Mark? I thought he was on the website. Now she said there isn't one, but one is thinking about it. Man, it's hard to keep up.

Ketosis Another false fear about low-carbohydrate diets is ketosis. You can prevent ketosis by eating as little as 100 grams of carbohydrate each day. However, even if you do go into ketosis, there’s no harm from it, only benefit. I know that most health practitioners will tell you that ketones are harmful, but that’s true only if you are diabetic. We must distinguish pathological ketosis from physiological ketosis. In the former, high levels of ketones are dangerous. In the latter, occurring as it does with a very low-carbohydrate intake or fasting and starvation, the regulatory mechanisms in normal, healthy people control the rise of ketones. Ketones are, after all, important to the body’s fuel economy. The release of free fatty acids from the body’s fat cells into the blood increases in starvation or in low-carbohydrate diets. The body, however, doesn’t allow these free fatty acids to rise to dangerously high levels, preventing this by the liver’s conversion of them to ketones. As D.H. Williamson and R. Hems point out in their 1970 article onketones, published in Essays in Cell Metabolism, page 257, “It is perhaps because this led to the natural conclusion that they were useless products of metabolism, a view which is still held by a number of biochemists and clinicians.” This view is still held by most physicians and scientists in the year 2002. Therefore, as long as you are healthy and don’t suffer from diabetes, ketosis is nothing to fret about. If you have a concern, have your physician review the large number of research papers. They’ll confirm everything I’ve said. Initially, when beginning a low-carbohydrate diet, there is some ketone loss in the urine. This accounts for 50-100 calories a day. After several weeks of adaptation to the low-carbohydrate diet, ketones become a primary fuel for the brain, central nervous system, organs, and muscles. This increased burning of ketones decreases their amount in the urine. In fact, after a month or two on an extremely low-carbohydrate diet, it’s virtually impossible to detect ketones in the urine. They’ve all been burned in the cells as a source of fuel. The critics of the low-carbohydrate diet are wrong when they claim that ketones are unhealthy and Atkins is wrong when he claims that ketones are a significant source of energy “wasting” that confers a metabolic advantage to the low-carbohydrate diet.

Christin and Deni did a fantatic job. I thought that Dr. Siegler's parting words "no self-respecting Dr. will associate themeselves with this plan" was one of the best things said. Hopefully TT's Bariatric Dr. who is planning on coming on board will take his advice to heart.
I was very pleased with how much time the show devoted to the subject. Anyone who watched it and still joins or follows the plan is beyond desperate. Calling TT on the carpet for the mistaken forwarded email was classic! She should be horribly embarrassed. |

The front page at KK has been updated. Seems Heidi is back on the program and keeping a journal for all to see. OOPS SORRY NOT FOR ALL TO SEE YOU HAVE TO BE A MEMBER TO ACCESS HER JOURNAL.

She never said she sold the website. She said there was new ownership. That can be interpreted in a number of ways that do not include Heidi selling. For example, she could have had a partner and bought that person out, she could have changed partners or she could have formed a corporation and had that entity "buy" kimkins. I think she just wanted people to assume she sold it.

I just filed a complaint about the kimkins diet being shown in the WW magazine, and asked that their article on it be taken off. I hope I hear something back from them. I gave a link to this thread, and hope they take the time to check it all out!

OK - I caught another discrepancy in TT's comments, someone correct me if I'm wrong - she said a bariatric dr was interested in coming on board the KIMKINS wagon because he "tries not" to do surgery?
If he's a bariatric surgeon, this is where his money comes from - why would he want to support something that would make his specialty obsolete? Did anyone else catch this? I also don't think I've ever met a surgeon who thinks things can be fixed just as easily without surgery - it kind of goes against their thought process to go in there and "fix" it fast. Comments?
