Add me to that list. I hope I can view the show from here. I want to see it!!!

heh heh. More time on monday sounds good to me. I hope I can see it here. You'd think since it's in NY it would be available in the tri-state area. I don't see it listed for it, though.

Hey, I could go as a success story for losing nearly 70 pounds in a little over three months -- but, oh, wait a minute. Wouldn't the studio lights cause a glare coming off of the bald spots I have where my hair started falling out about 2 weeks ago?!
I feel your pain. I'm a couple months into my hair loss. It's scary and embarrassing.

I use eye shadow on my scalp if I'm going out somewhere. It helps to fool the eye. I'll have to look up the stuff you're talking about. Sounds good. How do you use it?

An article in emedicine states that whatever the triggering event is that causes the hair loss, in our case malnutrition/starvation, the average time before the hair loss occurs is 3 months from whatever was the triggering event. Now, the range is 1-6 months depending on one's hair growth cycle as one of the factors. But I did kimkins for 2 months and had stopped for a month when it suddenly started to fall out by the handfuls. It is slowing down now and I am taking biotin as well. I posted this article before but in case you missed it or in case it could help anyone here it is again- Link
It will get better.
I thought mine was slowing after I added lecithin to the mix of supplements I was already taking for the hair loss, but it actually seems worse. We joined and were banned about the same times, weren't we? I joined the very end of June. I hope this means mine will be slowing down and stopping soon.

Just for help perhaps- for those having probs. with their hair falling out or thinning due to kk diet disasters, there is an excellent product named TOPPICK
Spencer Forrest : Toppik
they will send a sample if one pays S&H, (which is below $5), and the stuff is great! DH tried some on his bald spot, and one cannot even tell he has one, when he uses it!
So hope this helps someone out!

Oh my goodness!!! I'm sorry about your sons! My rotator cuff has been torn twice, so I feel his pain. Did they refer him to an orthopedic surgeon?
HoneyBee2:
Susi- Wow, what a stressful day!! Your sons sound like my brothers! They started knocking teeth out and breaking bones at such a young age...all in the name of sports and fun! I was too prissy for that type of thing.
But I hope everyone recovers quickly and you get some much needed R&R.
Have a good night!
mrsmenopausal:

Thank you gals for your words.
Carolyn, my boys have spent so much time in ERs with broken bones, stitches, etc, I kinda thought once they left home it would end!

Magicmom, did you have yours repaired? He is being sent to an orthopedic surgeon today and we dont know if they will do surgery etc. The joint is completely unstable, it keeps seperating.

HoneyBee, my brothers were houligans, Im certain that is why my mother turned totally grey by the time she was 50!

Thank you Mrsmenopausal!

Mrs. Menopausal -- It's in a small spray can and comes in several colors. You have to kind of experiment with it. Shake it good and try to get it right on your scalp and let it dry. Less is better. If you get your hair wet with it, it makes your hair kind of stiff. I'm trying to stay away from any stress to my hair and scalp like pulling on it when I brush it. I got my first spray online, but I have since found it Walgreen's.

susique...hope things turn out OK for your boys. A Mothers biggest nightmare are boys...boys playing sports, boys driving, boys w/girls, lol. Talk about stress! you hang in there and stay strong. I'm glad your DH went with your son, a lot of men do not get involved and leave it up to the woman. Both kids at once must have been tough for you yesterday. hang in there girl, and remember, we are all here for you.

that hair paint stuff sounds like Ron Popell's hair stuff you spray on. I ended up cutting my hair 3 inches to help. unless you move the hair (I had a lot at once) you don't notice my spots yet but I am still losing it but not as badly and my hair dresser says she can see new growth. Like Honey and HB, mine started about 3 months after KK and is still coming out but I've been lazy and have not gone to get any supplements yet. I hate taking pills and just keep hoping it will just stop. I'm sure if it was more noticeable, I'd be panicking more (not that I am not now). I'm just a procrastinator.

No, mine did not require surgery because it was not a full thickness tear. I hate to say it, but based on your description, it sounds like your DS will need surgery to repair it. If that's the case, he'll be in a sling for at least a month. That's hard on a kid who's used to being outside playing sports. But the good news is that they have good success with repair of full thickness tears. In a way, it's better than having the injuries I had. My rotator cuff is held together with scar tissue. If I ever have a full thickness tear, it's going to be like trying to sew two pieces of hamburger together.

Goodness, what a day! I'm glad your son wasn't injured in the accident. He'll probably be sore, though. And ouch on the torn rotator cuff!

TT's excitement over her alleged TV debut makes me so sad for her.

Why do they need more success stories and photos? Aren't there hundreds on the site?

Just finished watching The Mike and Juliet show~ (first time) I was surprised~ not nearly as fluffy (think Kelly & Regis) as I expected~ Seems like they want real stories, not the off the wall stuff.

Should be very interesting on Monday~

Hubby and Matt just came home. The MRI showed a partial tear and so they put him back into the sling and said come back in2-3 weeks if there is still weakness & pain. 800mg of Ibuprofen every 6-8 hours. Said right now theyre adopting the "wait and see" attitude. Of course Im being a nervous mom and wondering how is this going to work. He drives a stick shift (its his R shoulder) and he does manual labor at First Data? We shall see I guess. I find it hard to think these things repair themselves 100%? What did you do to tear yours? My huband tore his crashing his motorcycle in the Navy and they did surgery but this was back in 1970s.
Sorry for the thread jack gals.

My other son called and he and his wife woke today and said they feel like someone jumped up & down on them all night. ha! All in all it was a "praise the lord" accident as no one had to go to the hospital. They "used" to drive a Nissan. Time for an SUV.

Thank you Kat for your kind words. My hubby is so good with the medical stuff, I come unglued!

Sorry for the thread jack gals.
Yeah, they do take the wait and see attitude when there is a partial tear, which is what I had. My first one was a pulling injury. I pulled myself up to a standing position with my right arm and only the use of my left leg and that is what tore mine (long story). I also tore cartilage at the same time, and ended up having surgery to repair the cartilage. You should ask them to send him to physical therapy right away. It's never too soon to start. And you are right that partial tears don't heal 100%. I've never been the same since mine. Ever since the injury, I call it a "flaky shoulder", lots of pops and cracks, and instability. The second injury happened because I wasn't 100%. In a temporary living situation, I had to sleep on a rock hard bed. One morning, I woke up sleeping on my bad side, and knew immediately I had "slept wrong" on that shoulder. It ended up being another partial tear, but had a great physical therapist who has straightened me up and I'm doing good now.

Back to your regularly scheduled thread.
