Unless there is a complete rupture of one of the rotator cuff muscles (or even more than one) and then combined with sprain of the glenohumeral ligament, and chronic subluxation, they generally do not go in and do a surgical repair (especially being younger) as they will generally have better long term outcomes going through therapy. If he isn't experiencing subluxations, the risk of frozen shoulder and loss od range of motion and function at the shoulder joint is usually a deterent to surgery. Definitely get a referral to rehab with a physical therapist or athletic trainer as this will make a huge world of difference. Even in this initial phase we can do pain control modalities on him, as well as gentle range of motion work to prevent adhesions from developing.

Thank you Magicsmom, I will tell him he doesnt have to suffer if the ibuprophen isnt cutting it. Right now hes walking around looking all hunkered forward like a monkey.

Kim the tear is on the top to the back of the shoulder. Right behind the little nobby? Deltoid? I sound stupid I know! When it tore he said pain shot clear up his scull behind his ear. Dr told him to call a PT today so the thing does not freeze up?

Tinker, Im sorry youre not able to get yours fixed yet! Is it the general anethesia they are avoiding? I really dont know how hes going to drive a stick. I might trade him my Kia for a few weeks. Wouldnt I look cute driving his little hot rod around?

You really don't need to know all the minute details about what muscle is torn, what ligament is sprained or strained, etc., unless you want to know. The important part is for the doctor and the PT to be in communication because the PT needs to know the exact nature of the injury. If you are really curious to know all the details, you can ask the PT to explain it to you in terminology you will understand. Once that injury starts to heal, the shoulder will get very stiff and it's at risk to become frozen. PT will address that problem and prevent frozen shoulder, not to mention aiding greatly with pain management.

My huband tore his crashing his motorcycle in the Navy and they did surgery but this was back in 1970s.

No, because my arm(s) stay right at my sides because of the slide out on the desk.

Didn't someone from here notifiy this program and forward the info to them along with the KTLA links? If so...they are already pretty well informed about what is going on. This will be almost as good as if Kimmer went herself if these to "success" storys show and I don't believe SL is at goal yet is she?

Mike and Juliet is a morning show on local TV here. It's big.

We do realize this may not be pretty. But it is going to be a lot better than if the opposition had just snuck past us and surprised us later, afterwards with it which is what they tried to do. We have proof of that. In fact, without saying too much, we have proof of a lot of things... And if you have info for us too that you feel is important just PM me.

Show will be taped on Monday instead.

Thanks everyone for your terrific support! We will be getting back shortly for info on how to get your stories and pics to the show. I will speak with the producer today. He may want you to send them to him but again, I'll know more very soon and will be back to post then.

Have I mentioned lately how proud I am of all of you and how happy I am to be here?
