Honey, I still love ya, and yes...I know you have been careful and I also know you like the facts. We do appreciate the update on what is happening. Hope we are OK now.

As far as the IRS is concerned...I don't know about property but I suppose they take whatever they want. I do know if they want your money they go right into your account and take it all and don't even worry about if you have rent or food money. I'm hoping the figures in the court papers are figures they got by viewing her accounts and not just and "estimate" of what she may or may not still have. However, I'd assume even if they were, that plus the lawyer's fees which were left "open" to the amount is what they would be asking for her to pay. All that stuff and our questions would have to be left to the legal eagles here, like McLurkyPants who seems to be very knowledgeable and we thank you.

I was wondering what her under-graduate degree was in...... You can't go to law school without 4 years under your belt. I doubt very much she even had one.

She probably only signed up to get some books and learn how to protect herself from her scams!

That very thought just occurred to me too - I wonder if she somehow managed to con her way into law school without any kind of undergrad degree, and if perhaps that's why she didn't last long. Not just because she couldn't hack all the work involved, but because they eventually caught up with the con and kicked her out - There have even been college profs and practicing surgeons who have managed to lie, con, scam, and bluff their way into such jobs, but as soon as they're found out, they're outa there! (Usually with some stiff fines, and jail time too)

I have no idea if this was the case in her "law school" adventure or not, it was just an idea that occurred to me of what might have happened.

Kit Kat we are good! And I am sorry if I misunderstood your points in your comments as well. I do like the facts and have always been the type to back things up with examples, quotes, links, articles..etc.. so I have had to sit on my hands a few times here lately, but there may be times I don't see the harm in things that others do see and I can appreciate that too.
You know I luvre you too.

You never know with Heidi. I would love to read a list of all her various cons and scams she has pulled off over the years. Then to also know how she did them. I think we have only seen the tip of the iceberg of the lies and deception she has been a part of over the years.

BTW- Speaking of school and cons...Does anyone know how Dr. Mark has the "Doctor" title, when the only school he referenced for his education lists a masters as the highest degree, not a doctorate?

I've wondered that myself. Could her student loan debt actually be for a semester of college rather than law school? I guess it's possible that she did go to law school. She throws some legalese around but doesn't really know what she's talking about. Sounds like first year to me.

I remember someone posting a quote from Heidi saying that she had an undergrad degree, but I can't remember what it was in. However, she could have been lying. I do suspect, though, that she actually had to have the undergrad transcripts to apply to law school.

Yes, you do have to submit undergrad transcripts with your application. At most schools, if you do not submit an official transcript (with school seal) at the time of your application, you're required to submit it once you start.

I know there have been stories of people conning their way into jobs by claiming education that they didn't have but I would think it would be more difficult to con your way into a professional school. I guess it's possible though.

Maybe she'll have time to write a book in prison.

That would be "doctor of oriental medicine" that he got from his night school that's no longer accredited.

The credentials used by acupuncturists include C.A. (certified acupuncturist), Lic. Ac. (licensed acupuncturist), M.A. (master acupuncturist), Dip. Ac. (diplomate of acupuncture), and O.M.D. (doctor of Oriental medicine). Some of these have legal significance, but they do not signify that the holder is competent to make adequate diagnoses or render appropriate treatment.

he has a "doctor of chinese medicine" "degree" but he did a major no-no when he referred to himself as a primary care "physician" as that oversteps his scope of practice as a licensed acupuncturist....not that I "pursued" this or anything

I wondered about this myself.

I was thinking of how we refer to optometrists and chiropractors as doctors, even though they don't have doctorate degrees... or do they? The information I was able to find online about what's required to become either of those wasn't too clear on the matter, just that a DC is a doctor of chiropractic, and a OD is a optometric doctor.

So perhaps he's just using the generic term "doctor" even though he doesn't have a doctorate?

Even if that's the case, referring to himself as a primary care physician is really OTT - I can just see my insurance company allowing me to use someone with only a master's (from a school that is no longer accredited, no less!) as my "primary care physician" They'd laugh themselves silly while stamping a big rejected on all the bills!

My uncle did not graduate from high school and was in his third year of college before the school discovered it. He went and got his GED, finished college and is now a professor.

The caveat is: 1) This was before the electronic age and 2) this was an undergrad situation, not someone going to law school or medical school.

I just asked my husband about that and he said some colleges to have "accelerated programs" that cut out the mickey mouse classes - so you can get your undergraduate degree faster and then you can enter law school. You'd still get an undergraduate degree though prior to law school.

OTopic - sorry!

Just wanted to give you all an update on the husband's ultrasound.

He does have an AAA (abdominal aorta aneurysm) - but it's small 4cm x 4cm. They want another scan in 6 months. I find it a blessing that he knows about it because so many people aren't even aware they have one and die needlessly. I guess they don't contemplate surgery until it reaches 5.5cm or larger.

Thank you all for your PM's and prayers. He's very optimistic.

My birthday treat!

Many years ago, before I was on lowcarb, a favorite restaurant of ours used to make a brandy alexander, not with cream, but with vanilla ice-cream. It was soooo good. Of course, that was 15 yrs ago. Not on my list anymore.
