Thanks for answering that for me Dottie and Rebel. I really was not sure why the bald issue was played into the picture since it doesn't really relate to the issues of fraud. Wearing a wig isn't a crime and doesn't prove her a liar. She's doing that well enough on her own.

Things are in the works and we will succeed at some time. Just takes a lot of people working behind the scenes and a lot of documentation as we do not want to give out any false information.

Love the Dummy book!!
Hi Kat,

I think it's wonderful that they are looking at it. One thing I don't get though is why they aren't looking at the whole picture. The whole thing confuses me. I couldn't write a story this good if I tried. Are they only going to focus on the fund raiser?

I'm a little surprised Snopes still has nothing. If someone sent you this whole story in an email, you'd probably go ... naaaahh, urban legend ... right?

If each medium covers only one tiny angle of the puzzle, *somebody* will eventually put it together and get the whole picture. Right?? It'd be one amazing book*, with so many themes (body image/diet industry, a psychological POV of leadership and group dynamics, how businesses are grown, the way the Internet creates real communities on virtual spaces, profiles of scams and the scammers who run them, and so on.)

*Waaaay too much for just one artical.

I haven't had internet thanks to some nimrod digging without calling the city first and taking out the whole blocks phone line, and work has been hella busy. By the time I get to catch up, anything I was going to say has already been said cuz ya'll are some smart cookies.

I just wanted to post and put you all to ease that yes there is still a need to bring down Heidi, and Tippy and yes things are still in the works so don't fret

And a big shout out to Honey Bee, for her masterful screen shot work on the foster kid gunk. Plus you screen shotted my questioning tippy and it made me giggle to read it again haha.

Ok, off to work. I'll try to catch ya'll later.
Hi Missi Dear glad to see you posting. I got your pm and I thought you must be beside yourself without any internet, but sounds like work has kept you too busy to worry with Kimmer. Thanks for the shout out on the screen shots and thanks to you and others who are doing all they can to help get this story media attention. I'll catch up with ya later.

Hi Kat! Well that is good news indeed. I sent over about 28 screen shots in two separate emails so they should have enough to review, but I hope those directly involved (i.e. donated money) have contacted the reporter, because that will determine whether the story is covered or not. Thanks for sending the information you had.

For those curious about alopecia. I believe its a Genetic thing and you are born with it. I worked for a Photographer who had it. No hair anywhere on his body, eye brows eyelashes etc... His brother only had it partially. He had no hair but a little on his chin. Im sure she has always been bald, she didn't just lose her hair as someone stated. HTH

Her Doctor and Family?

been gone a little while because I am just snapping back from a mastectomy and my Stage III breast cancer diagnosis. Docs and my family blame my "wacky diet", had been following K/E. Any chance they are right?

Dr Mark's Response:

The biggest clinical correlation to cancer has been obesity.

I look at all of your progress into a healthy weight as SAVING your lives.

When you are over 50 lbs overweight the medical conditions that arise are nearly endless.

You folks all want to look good but I am mainly concerned with you being healhy, happy and living a long time.

Restrictive diets have nothing to do with cancer at all.

Over eating, food additives, toxic substances and the way they build up in the body do.

And who do you think she is going to believe????

When I was in college and doing rotations for my internship another student worked with a healthcare provider who was receiving chemo treatment for cancer. The person had lost all their hair and was of course getting sympathy from other colleagues at the hospital where she worked. Employees could donate their unused sick or vacation time to her in order for her to be off with pay and many did. This went on for several months and she ended up dying. IT was determined the cause of her death was the drugs she was injecting herself, because she did not have cancer. She was a perfectly healthy 30 something that was starving for attention who ended up making herself sick. When my college friend told me this I was shocked that someone would go to such extremes, but she had access to the medication, knew how to discuss "her cancer" because of her work, so it fooled many. Not to mention her being completely bald was enough for most to believe.

I kept checking on the other thread trying to figure out why no one had posted for over 6 hours, then finally realized that the thread must have been closed, since the quoting buttons at the bottom of the posts had disappeared.

You can run but you can't hide - I finally found this thread!

And Ooooooooh, I'd love to know what's going on behind the scenes too, but as long as we know that the whole matter hasn't just been dropped for some reason, I'll just quietly wait it out.

Sounds like that scam backfired on her. Sad that someone would be that starved for attention.

I also worked with someone who had Munchausen Syndrome and faked her own cancer. Every day we'd comment on how brave and plucky she was as she walked over from our pavilion in the hospital to the main building to have her radiation therapy (which was probably a cuppa joe from the caf). Things did crash around her eventually, however, and she ended up leaving her job to move else where and probably scam another employer.

Hey there!

You know when you've tried other diets in the past and you didn't quite understand something or wanted more details? What did you do? Ask a friend or try to figure it out yourself, right?

Didn't you wish you could ask the diet inventor directly? Well, good luck! Do you really think Dr. Agatston (South Beach Diet), Jenny Craig or Jean Nidetch (Weight Watchers) are going to answer any emails from you? Not hardly!

But we do. You can ask our admins any diet question day or night, both in the Kimkins Cafe forum on the Kimkins site or via Kimkins Private Message (an exclusive Members Only feature!) "

I believe this is part of the reasons to join Kimkins emails I signed up for to see what they were all about.

Dr. Agatston, Jenny Craig or Jean Nidetch may not be answering your emails, but is Kimmer still around and posting? I thought she sold the site? And how does an Admin really compare to asking Dr. Agatston, Jenny Craig or Jean Nidetch about the diet anyway?
I was wondering the same thing! The only admins I'd want to ask anything are long gone from there. Of course, being a member of "Banned Camp," I can't ask anyway!

Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disorder. It's not genetic. "Common baldness" (that would be my DH) is genetic. Here is some info on it from the National Institutes of Health:

Alopecia

In fact, I am going to side with Mark just this once. Cancer is not an overnight thing - it generally takes years to show up, and obese women seem to be more susceptible to it, breast cancer in particular, from the estrogenic effects of excess bodily fat. But losing weight as fast as Kimkins can do it will also cause all the toxins stored in the fat to pour out, and overwhelm the body's defenses. But I disagree that restrictive diets have nothing to do with cancer. When SUGAR and carbs are restricted, cancer risk lessens. (I think that was what he was getting at.) In short, I sincerely doubt if she could blame her "wacky diet" for her cancer, but she needed a lot more nutrients than she'd get from Kimkins to recuperate properly.

My SIL was not born with alopecia although, it is probably caused from an autoimmune disorder. She had all of her hair until she was in her 30's. It became patchy for a while like someone who has had chemo, but now, she has no body hair at all. She has a thyroid condition and even, cirrohsis of the liver, all caused by this disorder.
