I'm not a medical professional at all, but this is something I've heard many, many times. Can you explain?

I mean we've all seen the pictures of a pound of "muscle", which is way smaller than the pound of "fat". They even have plastic representative sample sizes of muscle vs. fat at the gym.

Or is it the same as "Which weighs more, a pound of feathers or a pound of lead?" Since they both weight the same (a pound).

Really. I noticed the difference in how much easier I can stride and how much farther I can go with my Brooks for over-pronators, noticeably moreso than with my regular Avia/Nike/Propet/Etc sneaks. My knee and my heels never hurt when I use them to do errands or take a long stroll on the Hollywood Broadwalk.

The Princess
I didn't have any problems until I got those shoes. I wore all different heel heights and type of shoes sometimes wearing as many as 3 different pairs in a day based on events. I had no problems with my feet or ankles.
My doctor suggested that I get some Reebok runners with the anti-pronation and wear them as much as possible to get more aerobic speed walking in when possible.
Turned out that all of my heeled shoes were providing the hard support that this big girl needed to keep my feet healthy and those runners were all wrong.
I had such nice arches before those shoes.

I'm sure Kim will answer as well, but it's a density issue...muscle takes up less space than fat...so yeah, it's sort of like the feathers/lead analogy.

yes 1 pound = 1 pound

BUT muscle is about 5 times more dense than fat so it takes up considerably less space

I remember Kimmer saying that all the celebs on the red caret follow a low carb/fat/calorie diet, therefore they do Kimkins (can't remember if she posted it on LCF or if it was copied/pasted from kimkins)

Dr. Mark:
Quote:
After this surgery you will never _meta_bolize large quantities of fat well. You have to change your diet or indigestion and loose stool will follow every high fat meal. Your GB can no longer "squirt" for those larger quantities.
My GB was removed in 2002. Combination of bad genetics (I am one of the few women on my mom's side of the family to make it to 30 with a GB) & many vlcd's. I now eat at least 90 grams of fat a day (that's a low day) & have the opposite problem. I'd never go if not for the 1 minute flax muffin. My surgeon warned me about dumping syndrome caused by foods with seeds - cukes, tomatoes, eggplant all low in fat go figure. That did affect me for a very short while, but my body soon righted itself and now, like I said, I have the exact opposite problem.

Quote:
GBs don't get screwed up from too litte use, rather too much.
100% contrary to what my surgeon, who has, you, know, medical degrees & "stuff" told me. I have nothing against holistic, natural medicine and do agree that some MD's are quick to push meds & surgeries. However, I'd like to think that some of them pick up a thing or two in their what 10 years of medical school and training.

I don't think Dr. Mark is TT or Kimmer. Too much of his advice has been contrary to kimkins - Gatorade, cherries, etc. My conspiracy theory is that he studied Kimmer's posts to get her style down, and since she hasn't posted in a while, I do believe he was more familiar with the 'way they roll' than he has let on.

And shouldn't FG's advice to the poster asking for workout help have included the phrase eat more than 900 calories a day?????

Flippy

Good Morning Flippy,
Since you love to lurk here and then cross reference those of us that can post on this site and "yours", I have a bit of advice for you...
Check out Marisol's bog. She has a tutorial all set up for you on how to use spell check. I would strongly suggest that you stop spending so much time lurking on this site and spend more time learning how to use the spell check button. As the PR person for "your site", you wouldn't want to come across as someone stupid, now would you?
Oh, one more thing, how come it took you so long to catch on to the "little set-up" that Kim and I had for you? Were you too busy cleaning?
Lynn

[Thank You for aknowledging my exsistance! I truly appreciate the response!

I think that just about sums up my thoughts exactly! Thank you!

I think for now... I'll just stay back here and not post for a while. But I would like you all to know that I came in here at Thread 4 and have been on here everyday since. I searched for Russian Brides too! I posted quotes from KK and taken screen shots when the bombings happened. I applaud all of you for your deligent and passionate work to bring Kimmer down. I hope her and those involved get what they have coming to them. Just please try and remeber that just because we (the lurkers) don't post much and don't have the rights to pm yet, doesn't mean we are not on the "right" side of this controversy.
xactly!!!!!now lay low!!!!!

if you like you can go post on the ML to get your posts counts up, then when something meaty happens over there you can PM it to some one here on the facination thread and we can post it bwahahahaahahaaa
it drives TT mad !!!

And someone who knows something about anatomy please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the gall bladder an organ, not a gland? Where did this guy go to medical school?! Oh yeah, that's right, he *didn't* go to medical school.
I had my GB out a few years ago, and I never had any problem with fat metabolism - before or after surgery!

I forgot to mention, this is pretty much what I was told too. That all my GB problems stemmed from eating too much fat.

I was the typical 3-F GB patient - Fat, Forty, Female.

They of course blamed all my weight gain on eating a fatty diet, not on eating too much sugar/starch (carbs). They definitely didn't make the connection between too little fat for an extended period of time, followed by eating a fatty meal causing the GB problems, although they did mention that it was eating a fatty meal that caused my symptoms.

And of course I believed them (at the time), because during the time between when I was told I needed to have the GB removed, and the day of the actual surgery (about 2 weeks), I was eating the lowest fat foods possible. Still, the only thing that kept the pain at bay was sipping on ginger ale all day long.

I fell for it - but the thing is, if eating fat was what had made me fat to begin with, I still didn't understand why in the world I gained even more weight during this period of time when I was eating practically fat free. They probably would have blamed it on drinking all that ginger ale though, not on the potatoes, pasta, rice and bread.

Stay in the lurk mode. Flippy reads all posts here and then goes to her site and cross references names. When she finds a name that matches on both sites, she yells "bingo", and bans you. You don't even have to post anything negative. Isn't this correct Flippy?

What screenshots are available? Can anybody who is still over at KK check to see what screenshots they are talking about? I was unable to post, so how could there be any screenshots?

Stardust I think you have a legit complaint. TT probably thought you were ME dlslds and a member of the BantaBabes that tt so longs to be a part of. it s probably because TT cannot spell and gets confused easily.

I am starting to to think that TT banned me for what Diana was posting, the copied and pasted posts from over there. and she thought it was moi!!! as Diana was my user name over there, but I hadnt copied/pasted anything or even posted over there in over a year.
TT just gets soooo confused!!!

*note to others in the Kpound, make sure your user name over there isnt the same as over here OR the same as any negative nancies over here!!!!*

My advice to Tippy is to just LEARN HOW TO SPELL period. Life doesn't always have spell check.
