I got the cortison shots. (OWIE!)
I did the 3 times a day icing.
I took the OTC anti-inflammatories/analgesics.
I did the stretching exercises, including the one with the belt at first rising (kept my husband's leather belt on the headboard for handiness).
I got orthotics.
I wore, for 18 -20 months, nothing but sneakers and flat-heeled boots with the orthotics. (Yes, no pretty, girlie shoes for nearly two years.)

That fixed me up. I stopped having the middle of the night agonies, the early morning torture.

I did have to give up heels as anything but a once-in-a-while, special occasion treat. I eventually invested in all well-cusioned shoes--Naturalizer, Easy Spirit, Hush Puppies, Softspots, Propet, Cloudwalkers--even the dressier ones. I adapted my wardrobe, getting rid of most dresses and skirts and switching to pants and generally "sportier" wear that allowed me to wear flat pumps, skimmers, Rockport boots, sneakers, moccasins, and low-chunkier heeled Mary Janes, etc, without feeling weird. Heck, I even tried Birkenstocks (ugly and didn't really help).

In the end, I adapted to make my feet happy. I can wear cuter shoes now, but they're all well-cushioned in the soles. I haven't used the orthotic in years. Stilettos are not in my vocabulary.

The Princess
I went through the same thing - except the shots. I still wear some arch supports whenever possible, but don't actually use my custom orthotics much anymore. I think losing weight probably helped immensely. But if I know I'm going to be doing alot of walking - especially on concrete - I will wear my orthotics. I am now able to wear heels and "cute" shoes. Yay!

Depression 20 Hours, 29 Minutes ago
Dr Mark

Are there any natural substances that are weight neutral for depression? I'm sinking fast and and unable to stay above the water.
Celexa/Lexapro really packed the #'s on the last time.
What I really want is a "FATTY" but because of my profession and random drug testing that is out of the question.

HELP

She better be careful with those Fatties! She'll get the munchies and undo all her hard work

K/E question! 11 Hours, 19 Minutes ago
It is one day till I complete my first week on K/E and this forum. So far I have lost a total of 11.5 lbs. Awesome!
The problem is, the last 2 days I haven't really seen anything, even though I am on strict K/E. I did add a EAS shake to my morning for breakfast since I wasn't having anything and it is easy to take to work with me. Now, while I was given the advice my some other really helpful people on this site, is the EAS shake allowed on K/E? Do you think this is what is stalling me??? Thanks in advance for any comments.

Re:K/E question! 10 Hours, 11 Minutes ago
Congrats joannh--that is amazing loss! I really doubt that the shake would have hurt you, there are others who incorporate a shake option with k/e. Something that many people experience is this great whoosh of loss the first week or two, and then things slow down a bit. The result is, we get used to seeing the scale move every day at first, so when it doesn't move we think something is wrong or assume it is some kind of stall...really, you will get into a rhythm where you will loose a few pounds a week, but not every single day...sometimes not for a couple days at a time. There is no real exact science to it because it depends on our own bodies, TOM, water retention, what we have eaten and drank, levels of physical activity, you name it. It will still come off faster then most any other diet out there, just...it won't come off every single day. Boy do a lot of us wish! So keep your chin up, drink your water and keep on plan, and it will keep working.

Re:K/E question! 10 Hours, 9 Minutes ago
I don't believe shakes are part of l k/e, unless it's a meat shake .

As much lean protein as desired from the Kimkins Food List
Minimal low-carb condiments and spices may be used sparingly
No alcohol, no cheese, no fatty meats, no fats, no veggies
Your appetite will drop naturally after 3-5 days
Take a complete multivitamin each day plus other desired supplements
You may remain on K/E as long as desired

Ok, so tell me if I'm wrong:

Person #1 wanted to know if the shakes were ke

Person #2 (singing lass) says "go ahead and incorporate it into ke"

Person #3 has answered verbatum of #1, no, shakes are not ke.

I don't seem to recall myself that shakes were on ke. Anyway, now who does #1 follow? And I could be wrong again and should look this up - wasn't singing lass on ew for a really long time and only 300-500 cals? I gotta look it up. if anyone can find it please post...

ooooooooohhh, I can remain on ke as long as desired? I can eat only protein the rest of my life? Toss the broccoli everyone! "Meat shakes" for all my friends!!! turkey of beef flavor? you decide

Yes, you are right, 2 days is a lead up to a whoosh, over 5-6 days starts to look like a stall.

Not only that, she's lost 11 pounds and hasn't even completed her first week and she's worried because she hasn't lost anything more in 2 days!!! That's a huge loss.

That's on regular diet plans Tooter! Not on better than gastric bypass ones. If you go 5 minutes without losing 4oz, you're stalled dontchaknow?

BTW I am not making fun of the lady who thinks she is stalled after 2 days, just the way the plan is promoted that makes people think that you can *stall* after just 2 days of non-loss.

One of the biggest pros of this thread has been the influx of people from KK, and how they have been welcomed to the weight loss portions of this board in order to continue their journey. If you move this thread to the Playground (a totally inappropriate folder) or only allow "approved" members ("approved" by who???) then you cut off the thousands of people who will be looking for info on KK. This thread is here to tell them the dangers, the scam, that KK is. If you turn it into a "members only" club for the "in crowd", you will be missing out on a bigger, long-term benefit.

PS - There are a lot of lurkers who were affected by Heidi/Kimkins who don't post often but have very valid opinions. If we run them off this thread because we imply they have no right to say anything because they don't post very often, what does that say about us?

I think that just about sums up my thoughts exactly! Thank you!

I think for now... I'll just stay back here and not post for a while. But I would like you all to know that I came in here at Thread 4 and have been on here everyday since. I searched for Russian Brides too! I posted quotes from KK and taken screen shots when the bombings happened. I applaud all of you for your deligent and passionate work to bring Kimmer down. I hope her and those involved get what they have coming to them. Just please try and remeber that just because we (the lurkers) don't post much and don't have the rights to pm yet, doesn't mean we are not on the "right" side of this controversy.

MJR, please go finish up the necessary number of postings so that you can PM, ok? Post some of your favorite recipes or make comments on existing recipes or something.

Just want to make sure that if you have something to PM or someone wants to reach you by PM it will be possible.

(Personally, I mostly lurk here too, because by the time I finally get caught up, usually several people have already said what I was thinking. After being a member here for what seems like ages, I just *finally* posted enough to be come a "senior member" just about 2 days ago! It was just as difficult to get in those first 25 posts, since I've spent so much time lurking here that I didn't have time to post elsewhere! Now I wish I'd taken the original advice to post recipes and such, just to finish them up. )
