Re:Gout problem 13 Hours, 5 Minutes ago
Yeh,

This one is a question for your prescribing MD.

I can tell you however, this does not appear to be symptoms of gouty arthritis.

Gout - once called the rich mans disease- can come from eating lots of fatty meats and wine or liquor.

Usually symptoms begin in the left great toe and progress to the knee and then to the other side.

Gout occurs when the kidneys cannot filter enough uric acid from the blood stream.....The great toe on the left gets hit first because this area has the poorest drainage in the body. The uric acid crystals are sharp and lodge in the joint causing great distress, pain, swelling and redness...a true itis!

Preventative for gout - two cherries a day.. Not the red sugared cherries found in manhattens....fresh cherries.

Just 2 cherries to prevent gout? who knew?

Keep up the good work Kristik!

I was looking at your weight loss and it seems as though you are doing phenominally well.

As you get closer and that last few pounds looms over you (those last few can be tough) be sure to check out some of the articals I have in the works.

I would love to help all with a long term maintenance plan that suits your life. I am just so glad that all of you have chosen to do this for your health and to be around for those that love you for a very long time.

I have sacrificed money but gained time, a good nights sleep and a clear concience.

Well, Dr. Mark..Hopefully your "concience" (whatever that is)..will be still clear after you read all the facts on KKins..

Personally, I would want a Dr. to answer MY questions from the medical books..NOT from his head and his heart..There isn't that much medical knowledge in Dr. Mark's head, I'm afraid..

Now..take 2 cherries and go to bed..

Thanks Amy,

Many of my friends and collegues in the MD profession are just plain afraid. They have been sued so many time that they do not want to give advice outside of strict book guidelines (merck manual). The situation is compounded because insurance issues force them to see patients for around 3 minutes per visit. How much can you learn about a patient in 3 minutes.

I have alway just wanted to help.
I have sacrificed money but gained time, a good nights sleep and a clear concience.

Life is all about finding a balance. Family, work, friends, hobbies, love, life.....You cant do any of these without your health.

The information that I have learned over the years should was meant to be shared with others.

Besides, I am sure you folks can teach me alot as well.

I pledge to always answer with my head and my heart....just what I would want from a teacher or doctor.

Big hugs, Kim! Don't take this as a diss, but if you do, realize that it's a diss to the paying members (who haven't been sent to Banned Camp yet) and not to you. It was not your decision to hire this group of experts, and I hope that the KK-ites are thinking more critically about any piece of information they receive. Certainly all the tweaking and personalization of the eating plans is a good sign.

But if I find out he is fitness guru, then I'll be mad.

I dont know about cherries but this I did find:

eDocAmerica Health Tip

Can anything be done to prevent gout attacks? Through lifestyle changes and/or the use of medications, it is possible to markedly reduce gout attacks or stop them altogether. Measures that can help to reduce uric acid and thus avoid attacks are:

1. Gradually normalizing body weight . "Crash" diets or sudden weight loss can actually increase uric acid levels further, resulting in a gout attack.

2. Eating a diet low in purines. For more on this see: Low Purine Diet Care Guide Information

3. Decreasing the amount of alcohol consumed or stopping drinking altogether.

4. For those with repeated gout attacks medicines are available that can normalize blood uric acid levels.

As the months, weeks, days and hours go by and I feel the results of hard work and determination... I bask and I mean literally BASK in the glow of a deeper FREEDOM. A freedom of not only the fact of being controlled by food, but the freedom and joy of discoveries along the journey and the FUN of doing projects and the FUN of body movement and the FUN of discovering how our bodies react to foods and varying plans like on the cycling plan I am on and Othilia and all my friends there... its just nice and warm and friendly to be around mature ADULTS who really and genuinely care about people and Owho don't have or make time for the pettiness of the past but focus on the future and the right now kinda thingy. I can't thank the Admins enough for keeping taps on things and nipping things in the BUD, swiftly and effectively for NOW this place is like a warm home with all sitting around the couch or floor with pillows and just chatting about our day kinda thing. I believe the Admins set an example of not only keeping the peace with _style_ and grace, but genuinely caring for people in the overall of things and the overall pciture of a warm and welcoming place of focusing on the journey before us. Can ya just feelllllllllllllllllll the love here? I can and that brings me peace of mind. On this site you don't see things like bad mouthing other sites or people, what you see is mature people FOCUSING on the journey and helping other people out and hugging each other and suporting and listening and just like being there for one another. Kimkins.com is a slammin' place girlfriend. They even leave the light on for those who are away for a few days and wanna come back home kinda thing. They are cool peoples. and they know if people want to try new things, why have them leave here.. why not share and discover it right HERE on this website and precious Kimmer, just adorable and loving finds a way for us to venture forth and created a new forum of cycling so we can try new things guilt-free. Its just wonderful and Othilia is doing a slammin' job, I tell ya she be ON it girlfriend. All the Admins are on it, smiles. Look at the AMAZING DISCOVERIES ABOUT DRINKING WATER that we all recently learned.. that just blew me away so now I find myself drinking plain water and the correct amount of water for my body with MUCH GUSTO. Yep water consumputer is not only a necessity but wonderful when ya learn all that water does for YOU. It is also wonderful to learn that no matter what anyone says, YOU know what and how much your body feels comfortable at with food consumption and varying tastes and appetities. Example: I dont like greasy foods, instead I like low fat, I bask in low fat eating because to ME its the joy of eating fun and clean foods and eating lite and I loveeee eating at a certain caloric intakes NOW and feel more comfortable doing so NOW, whereas over-dulgence just throws my body into havick... well ya know the list goes on and on of the things and people I can savor on in the joys of discovery and happiness on.

"precious kimmer"?????????????????

This girl does not realize that you guys are not trying to bash her, but that you do care about her. She apparently is content being a science experiment.

I can't believe someone would not even take the time to look at the other sides point of view before making a final choice.

And kimmer would have never suggested cycling for FAST weight loss.

Old Kimkins = red
New Kimkins = purple

It's all a new science experiment now. I want to know who is pulling the puppet strings!!!

I havent been along to post for a while, it's hard to keep up with all of you!

Seriously, the KK 'employees' are real??? They are actual real people who take themselves and the nonsense they spout to the unsuspecting PAYING members seriously????

This is just disgusting. I'm sorry, but it really is. KK needs to stop taking advantage of people. This has gone on long enough... I really feel for the people who are still posting there with questions, etc, and I feel sorry they are still being fed a pack of lies!

It's a sad day indeed.

Just wanted to add: KK really reminds me of a religious cult more and more every day.... The misinformation, the strange newsletters, the lies, the false before/after photos, the uneducation about healthy foods, the unconditional worship of someone obviously very flawed... Need I go on??? Sad indeed...

(I removed my religious reference just in case it would offend anyone here)

But again....I do think cherries, especially 6-8 a day are on that Kimkins forbidden list....

Gout Remedies - Health 911

Cherries If you are lucky enough to have fresh cherries, eating 6-8 cherries daily will relieve the symptoms of gout. This remedy was reported in 1950 by Dr. Ludwig W. Blau who cured his own gout. Frozen and canned cherries may also be used. When you feel an attack coming on, eat 20-30 cherries immediately. Cherries are rich in compounds that prevent the destruction of collagen, which the body uses to form connective tissue. The connective tissue is damaged by gout. Cherries also have an enzyme that neutralizes uric acid and are high in anthocyanins which have high antioxidant properties as well as anti-inflammatory action. For greatest effectiveness eat them between meals.

FITDAY CHERRIES
Cherries, sweet, raw (Queen Anne, Bing) 8 cherries
39cals 9 carbs HALF of your 20 carbs per day
