This is Amy B. I wanted to let you know that I am taking full control of my health. I was so upset with my medical report. I have always taken great care of my thyroid and been really happy that I had it under control for two years. Needless to say I was shocked when my normal level dropped to a very abnormal level of .05. I also was very shocked to learn that my Vit D level was abnormal at a level of 23.4. the Dr was sure this was a test error made to the fact I live in Fl and I am tan and always outside with 4 children. She re ran them and the new level was lower at 13.9. I am working closely with my Dr to fix these issues. In fact I will be seeing her tomorrow .
I did the kimkins diet and I lost weight. I also know that being so close to goal and not feeling good I need to learn to add more foods in. Heck what is the use of all of this if I end up sick or even worse.
I stay at KK because I am in a wonderful small group of ladies who support each other and try to focus on family and health. We have been in a race together for months.
I am working on a new plan that will help me get well fast.

I hope that you get well soon. what a scarey thing to have to deal with....

don't even get me started on the evils of gatorade! how it is so ultraconcentrated in surgar that it actually draws water OUT of your tissues and into the stomach to aid in digestion and breakdown and can actually lead to muscle cramping and dehydration, compounded when used in hot and humid conditions.

so...don't even get me started

But... when someone presents themselves as a "doctor" (or other title that denotes some expertise), doesn't that open them up to scrutiny when their "professional" advice is questionable? Especially, as in this scenario, when giving medical advice without the benefit of getting a history from the "patient"?

Well you can't actually say he is not charging members $$$ directly so he can say whatever he wants. He is working as an employee of Kimkins. If my employee sells beer to a 15 year old, I am liable, not him. But in this case he is giving medical advice as a medical professional and it's a little different.

Kim, this was the advice for platar fasciitis

Quote:
Try stretching the achilles tendon (simple calf stretch). Also, consider getting a standard orthotic device for your shoes. If this becomes chronic..you should definitely see your doctor.

kim - what is a good drink for kids playing sports? Just water? I've personally never trusted gatorade but the kids drink it up during sports. My hubby has mostly convinced me that it is ok, but I have never really felt good about it.

Everyone is an individual and I have never had any of my docs advise me by going by broad generalizations. My PCP sometimes says "the classic symptoms of such and such are ..." or "on the average this occurs" but she always says after this let me look at your file or test results and I'll make my decision based on YOUR results or symptoms and medical history.

I can't find the post on hip pain, but I do remember seeing it.

Here it is

ey mmcniff-
How often do you take the class? First things first, rest. Take a few days off from the class and see if this helps.
What type of occupation do you have? If you sit a lot...your hip flexors (psoas) and hamstrings can shorten or tighten up & your glutes (your bum) weaken. It may be a muscle imbalance. Make sure you incorporate a flexibility program. Stretch your hip flexors and hamstrings and strengthen your glutes (squats, lunges, etc.).
Here is a website that shows the hip flexor and hamstring stretches, Hip Flexor Stretch, Seated Hamstring Stretch.
Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions.

I am happy to read that you are aware of health issues related to the Kimkins diet and that you are working closely with your physician to correct the thyroid problem. It is a very difficult disease to get just the right balance. Thank you for sharing those facts with us and I wish you and your family all the best.

The original powdered form of gatorade was much better. But what you buy now premade at the store is a commercial cop out. But it tastes good! The powdered gatorade in all honesty does not taste great. It is pretty weak tasting, but it really was just some electrolytes, sodium, etc added to plain water. If you can get the powder try that.

Or, take the commercial store one and dilute it by a good 50%. That cuts down on the concentration.

when it was sent to me, he originally suggested stretching the psoas muscle and not much else. Didn;t ask about exercise intensity, exercise specifics, foot/knee, problems, etc etc etc. From what the poster initially described as her symtoms too it sounds much more like a trochanteric bursitits....I just want her to be okay you know?

Actually we do buy the powdered lemon lime mix and then I mix it in a regular bottle of water exactly according to the directions. It's cheaper that way, so I don't feel as bad now.

However, they always hand out gatorade or the like after the game (ok, so we do too when its our turn, I'm a bad mom).

I bet the Class Action Lawsuit may be enough to get the information released.

What do you all think?
I had already tried through godaddy to find out what I could. When you change information, it's in a holding pattern for like 60 days. Fat kimmie may have just transferred the business over to her cat for all we know. I personally think it's important to find out who the new owners are as that mystery alone will resolve what the future intentions are of the site: whether it's to improve the diet to make it safer or if they just want to run with the kimkins name to make a buck.

don't feel bad! it is marketed VERY well! After the game is a better time to consume it than during as well since they will now be resting the stress is over.
