I checked out his calendar and some of his "seminars" are various massaget therapy techniques...which is kind of ironic since he no longer has a license to be a massage therapist.

Re: Dr. Mark - About Constipation 42 Minutes ago
Dear Pimp
Thanks for the info although between my doctor and myself I already had a lot of the info. My doctor didnt say the diet caused the problem only that it probably aggravated a predispostion to get it. I never had potty problems of any kind before this. Probably because I was eating so much junk my colon was working overtime . After doing a lot of research and talking to others what I think happened was the change in WOE was a shock to my system and after 3+months of potty problems my colon shrunk down too quickly causing the bubbles to form. I dont know if its rgiht or not but I do know that I now have to EAT at least 30 g of fiber/daily so while the main focus of my WOE will still be lean proteins and veggies my snacks will now include fruits and fiber cereal. Also I am using beans in some of my recipes.
My main purpose for posting my problem was to make sure others esp those over 40 were aware of the possible problems because I wasnt. Also the doctor said that if I had not gone to the doctor when I did the results would have been MUCH worse.
Please dont take this wrong, but how can this plan be truly healthy if it is causing so many potty problems? If you dont have potty problems maybe this is the perfect plan for you. If after being on the plan for awhile you still have problems....
By the way, my "bubbles" are in the desceding colon not the sigmond.

Re: Dr. Mark - About Constipation 3 Minutes ago
Just heard back from my specialist who said that ,although it ususally takes years for dicerticulitis to develop, in people who have not perviosly had any "potty problems" an abrupt change in diet and bathroom habits can cause it.

Fitness Guru looks a bit scary. Why doesn't he have a name?

I don;t know Tooter - but I would suspect it would be signifcantly less than what a physician would make as they would not be getting the insurance portion as well.

He can call himself a doctor - but when he called himself a PHYSICIAN - well I take great insult with that

This is totally JMO but from my experience most health insurance companies do not cover this type of treatment so yes it may cost a lot but I can't see business booming when people have to pay big bucks out of pocket....but then again, I could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time

Ok, I know this diet has been under a lot of critisiam latley.
But I started on june 4th at 244.(was 257 but used another program to 244).I keep my calories at 900-1200.
I stuck to the kimkins plan with the veggies and cheese and low carb yougurt. If I plateau then I went off the diet for 3 days and ate some HEALTHY carbs.I took a vitimin EVERYDAY plus added fish oil pills and extra folic acid and a and b6 and b12..vit c and zinc and iron and magnisum and calcium. It is alot of vitimins and I take them thur the day and not all at once so they will absorb better. Just want to say if you keep it healthy and dont starve and pay attention to your vitimins this program will work for you.

Also I have a friend who did a plateu for 1 month so her doctor gave her phentermine for 1 month only and she broke it and is losing fast as ever.Just please dont listen to the nut cases who eat under 500 calories... You know that is not healthy so please use your head and you will not get sick... also do your research on your vegtables and the foods. Some foods are better than others.Pick ones with iron and potasium .

Hope this helps guys.

Also keep your own pace..its not a race. some lose faster than others, some slower. Do what your body allows you to do.Dont do anything unhealthy.

Whoa! Does she think she's doing kimkins?

Good Points. Also, he would not have the "Turn Over" that a real Physician would (real patients).

This stuff is just so dang scarey. Are the people left at Kimkins buying this?

Hi cyclers! It would appear we had a busy night here with a troll who must have escaped from another website. I am sorry for the inconvienance of our members having to read her nasty posts. Thanks to all who jumped in to defend us. If you see more of these please notify us by PM myself or Singinglass. And of course if you see an admin on the board notify them also.

OK, so I am still behaving like a good Kimkinette. And I am being rewarded too! Back to 153.5 today. Can't wait for a full week to see where I land. I have been using the shake option with a fairly large lean protein dinner. And yesterday I did have some extra protein (meat) at noon.

This is a 2 lb loss in 2 days!

Someone asked about ibuprophen. It didn't always cause the water retention for me but seems to now. I know that is weird. In all fairness with my mouth sore I ate a lot of softer foods such as yogurts, cottage cheese and cheese. So I really can't blame it all on the meds.

So cyclers, I ask you now, what has been your opinion of cycling so far? Can everyone post a total loss for the last two weeks on Sunday? And can you post what plan you cycled with? I keep reading and seems some did great and others are still fighting the gain back off. Course this week isn't over yet!"

Wow, Ok, um....just 2 days ago she was 152.5. So what caused the gain that caused the loss? Would it be the KK maint. plan? I say if you want to defend the diet at least remember the weight you keep throwing out. Dummy!

*raising my hand* How long has she been starving herself to lose the same 4 lbs over and over again? THIS is maintaining?

And...She is having Thyroid problems but SWEARS it has nothing to do with Kimkins or her low calories. Yeah...right. Just read the 2nd Swartzbein book again, about healing your metab. VLCD do a number on your thyroid and other hormones.

"Re:I need HELP! 11 Hours, 41 Minutes ago
How many callories and grams of fat are you eating every day hun? really there should be no reason to go hungry...if you are hungry, go ahead and eat, just of allowed foods. I personally vary a lot myself, I have days where I just do not have much appetite, and others where I am more hungry...and I just follow what my body says it needs.

Sometimes upping the fats a bit will help reduce cravings/ hunger and help prevent grabbing something completely off plan....so maybe treat yourself to some steak, chicken wings, a little cheese or something for a day or two."

Could the water retention be caused by kidney damage from doing "Kimkins"? Ibuprophen is nothing to fool with......it itself can cause kidney and liver damage if abused......put that on top of a starvation diet and who knows what could happen

Someone who wised up in time and who's doc said to up calories to 1200...

"Re:"Shake It UP to Shake It DOWN" Holiday Challeng 15 Hours, 5 Minutes ago
Lady Shamrock,
Thank you so much for the prayers and concern. I foolishly did start this diet last year when it was too soon for me to begin and I also foolishly dropped my calories too low. I was ecstatic that the weight was coming offf so quickly for the first time in my life and I think I pushed it too far. My oncologist asked what I was eating to lose weight. Naturally when I said lean proteins and veggies, she was happy. She asked how low calorie I ate. I told her some days I went 600-800; she said I should try to stay around 1200. At first, I really balked at that and thought to myself that she just didn't know about nutrition. I did end up in the emergency room with very rapid pulse and dizziness, but I never connected it to the diet and neither did my doctors. However, I feel so much better eating more calories and fat. But I don't feel better weighing almost 30 lb more than I did a few months ago. I really do think Kimkins was an answer to prayer, but that I pushed it too far. Now I am wiser, right? This time when I shake it up, I won't go too far down in calories. I honestly find that I lose the same whether I do 1200 calories or 600 (at least for a while), and it's so much easier with 1200. I try to keep my carbs low (around 20 and that's a lot of coffee), my protein around 60, and my fats vary considerably. Sometimes I keep them at 70% of my calories and sometimes I do low levels. Right now, as I'm trying to get back in ketosis, I'm eating lots of healthy fats. As I said before on this thread, or I think I did anyway, I'd also rather be a few pounds heavier or lose slower in order to have the energy to exercise. I am working on it..."
