This just in over on KK:
Wow. Where is my post? 45 Minutes ago About 2 minutes ago, I posted a question about a response I received when tryng to post on the "I have a question" thread. The administrator has disabled public write access. Only logged in / registered users are allowed to contribute to the forum. I am a registered user. But now that post is missing. I am not sure what is up. Re:Wow. Where is my post? 40 Minutes ago I was reading a post a few minutes ago "I want a Refund" and went to look at user profile, came back and it was gone. I have been amazed today how quickly I am watching post appear and disappear. Almost seems silly that so much effort is going into it. I am sure this one will disappear also. |

Wikipedia Kimkins Controversy article
Quote:
I'm working on the search aspect. I've submitted a help request & hope to have the article indexed into the Wikipedia categories system - once I figure it out. I had no clue how complex Wikipedia was when it came to creating/editing articles. A real learning experience to be sure! Great exercise editing & sourcing. |

this is sad,
Jrzgirl69 (User) Jrzgirl Newbie Posts: 25 Hair Loss 1 Day, 1 Hour ago I was wondering if anyone is experiencing hair loss? I have noticed that in the past 2 months my hair seems to be falling out. Not in chunks or anything just there is always alot on the floor, curling iron and in the brush. I did have that problem 12 years ago when I did another diet but then I had just had a baby and thought it was post-pregnancy. I asked my hair dresser if I should be taking extra vitamins and she told me Calcium, Magnesium, and Zinc. I've been doing that for about a week and haven't seen any difference. Just curious if anyone has a suggestion or similar experience. I've been on Kimkins since June 3rd. Please note, although no boardcode and smiley buttons are shown, they are still useable Re:Hair Loss 1 Day, 1 Hour ago I don't know the answer to that - I always had some hair loss after babies, hormonal changes, etc. But I think hair loss can signal other issues as well. If you haven't just had a baby, I would see a doc, to see if it is hormonal change or something else. We do always need to be aware that our diet can affect things like this. Is it sometimes too much protein? Or a sign to add in more fat or veggies or something? Is it also a sign of a thyroid problem sometimes Re:Hair Loss 23 Hours, 42 Minutes ago Great question....I am having the same problem. I started on June 8 and have lost 68 lbs so our losses are similar. I'm not losing chunks but more than what is normal for me. I have very thick hair so it's not a problem but, I know that healthy hair that grows very fast is a sign of good health in general within the body. My hair isn't growing as fast as it usually does either. If anyone has any answers on this one it would be appreciated Re:Hair Loss 23 Hours, 29 Minutes ago You should contact your doctors regarding hair loss, or any other side effects. Sometimes, losing weight can cause hair to thin and fall out, but you should visit w/your physicians. Please note, although no boardcode and smiley buttons are shown, they are still useable Re:Hair Loss 23 Hours, 28 Minutes ago Okay I am having the same problem. My DH has even commented on it so I really know that it is falling out more. So I went to the Beauty Parlor and asked - they recommended vitamins for hair. So they sell them or go the the health food store and get some hair vitamins. I think it is starting to help....... deelady Re:Hair Loss 15 Hours, 42 Minutes ago Here is what I've experienced and heard: I started Atkins about 5 years ago and had the pleasure of losing 40 pounds, very quickly. And then I noticed my hair starting to come out. The key word there is, at this point, "noticed". I was part of a forum, and the word around the forum is that a person loses 100 hairs a day as an average. Here is a quote from a website: "Hair loss can be triggered by a variety of factors including pregnancy, stress, surgery and age-related hormonal changes, to name a few. But few people realize that weight loss can also cause hair to shed, likely due to a nutritional deficiency. Although iron deficiency is often associated with diet-related hair loss, a range of nutrient deficiencies can result in thinning hair, dermatologists say. Changes in levels of zinc, magnesium, protein, essential fatty acids and vitamins D, B and A can all trigger episodes of shedding hair. The problem affects both men and women, but women are more likely to notice it and seek treatment, say doctors." I have found this to be true. It isn't so much KIMKINS that is the problem, because I do believe I am eating healthier: lean protein, veggies, lots and lots of water, no sweets, junk foods, or junky snacks, but the CHANGE that our bodies are going through. And sudden weight loss is a very big change. The article goes on to say that "diet-related hair loss is temporary and may last only two to six months." Balanced diet = balanced hair. Here's the website - I believe I have taken the tone correctly...Changes in diet can sometimes lead to hair loss, by Tara Parker-Pope, first published 9/13/05. Here is another website to peruse: Hair Loss - Diet and Hair Loss So, what to do about it? Well, of course, I keep an eye on my head...this gal ain't lookin' to be bald. But I also take 2500mg (I think it's mg...the bottle is a floor away) of biotin every day, for hair and nails. Having seen this post and done just a little research, I think I may add zinc and magnesium, and make sure I am taking my vitamins (A, B, D). I am, at this point, comfortable (I didn't say that I liked it!) with the loss, as I do not have clumps coming off in my hands. I mostly notice when I am coming my hair after a shower, or when I am combing it out after a drive with the windows down. I have long hair, so that it a factor also. Hope this helps! Re:Hair Loss 15 Hours, 16 Minutes ago I also was reading up on hair loss, I started on 6/13/07 and am haveing some hair loss, nothing to be alarmed about yet...my beautician also told me that with her experience with diets and hair loss in her customers, she stated that it is usually temporary. And I have been takeing for the entire time on this woe, a multi vit, and extra magn, potass, C, Calcium and I just went and got a hair and nail multi vit with biotin in it. So hopefully that will take care of it, if I get too concerned, I will seek advice from my family physician. But for now it is not to that point. (I also read that it takes 4mo for your body when starting a diet to start reacting...and some hair loss is one of them) Good luck all Sue Re:Hair Loss 14 Hours, 7 Minutes ago Thank you everyone for your comments!!! I have been taking a multi vitamin and now added other things like the cal/mag/zinc and other vitamin/ mineral supplements. I do have a slow thyroid which was just checked so now for the physical that the doctor ordered. I am not worried about the hair loss just I noticed I have to clean up after myself every morning. I have had short hair most of my life so now that I've grown it out as far as it will go seeing it all over the bathroom floor was making me concerned Re:Hair Loss 13 Hours, 25 Minutes ago Hello guys! Now I'm new to kimkins....and not a doctor but, may I say I had a problem with hair loss when I started a low-fat diet a couple of years ago. Ask your doctor but, I take one prenatal vitamin every morning. You can get a 3 month supply for $12.00. They also help keep your nails and hair nice and strong, fish is also very good for you too. Source: Are prenatal vitamins good for your hair, nails, and skin if your not pregnant ? - Yahoo! Answers xx Mags Re:Hair Loss 51 Minutes ago Wow...great info, thanks ladies!!! Someone stated that it takes your body about 4 months to react when starting a new diet...and I am at 4 months on this plan, so that makes some sense. I think I will live with the hair loss and let my body adjust rather than go back to all the fast food and sugar just to stop hair loss...lol...Thanks again everyone!!! |

Jeez...I go from laughing my arse off to being really angry. Right now, I am really angry. Reading those posts from innocent KK members who have no idea what is going on makes me really angry. That site needs to be straight up SHUT DOWN.
I am still a member over there, have been for quite some time, but never posted. I know what is going on, but it is just so sad to me that there are STILL innocent victims there. Gol darn it... ![]() |

Yes Julia there is and this is really making me mad. Are you so selfish as to follow this woe while you are pregnant, and so dumb that you don't think that the Dr will have a cow when you tell him, IF you tell him? Here's another post from her:
