Yeast and wheat do a number on me.
How sad is it that I NEVER thought of that? One of my sons is totally lactose intollerant and has a mild form of celiac disease... the GI said it probably runs in the family, and I couldn't think of anyone in my family with any kind of problem with food - except elbowitis (the elbow bends, the mouth opens). I'll talk to him about it the next time we go in... Thanks!

why were you shocked and amazed? nobody knew who Kimmer was back then (2001), right?

or were you wondering why Kimmer was at LCF if she was thin?

Many, many LC resources out there

LisainTN ~

I can also empathize with many of your statements about living life as a spectator, rather than a participant. Since I was (am?) a member at KK's, I know how you feel about not knowing where to go from here.

BUT! As others have said, there are a number of forums and LC resources that you can use to get yourself back on track. You CAN do it!

I personally would recommend checking out the Eades book Protein Power LifePlan. I got mine at Amazon for about $12. They do an excellent job of explaining the true science behind their program. It has major similarities to Atkins and other LC plans, of course. Reading it made me feel like I was taking charge of my weightloss and not following something that was iffy at best, and downright dangerous at worst!

Read PPLP or DANDR and follow that instead of KK's. That way, the weight will come off and you will regain the control you've seemed to have lost in all this turmoil! And, you will know that you're doing it safely.

Best of luck to you!

OMG! Melt is no longer an admin(ion) at KK's?!

Dangit! Just when I thought I was gonna get to have a little fun!

Maybe Melt didn't have time to be a KK's admin(ion) and keep up with her Wal-Mart protest, her multiple boyfriends, and getting rid of all the kittens and puppies in her neighborhood.

Those things can keep a girl busy, ya know!

Melt!

Anyone can lose weight by starving, but the hard part is to find a balance to do it in a healthy manner that you can maintain the rest of your life.

What did she do over there to her "clients"? I have never heard of a Weight Watcher
Refugee Support group or an Atkins Refugee Support group. It makes me so mad that she messed with their heads...grrrrrr..and emotions...grrrrr...She will pay, one day.
Carolyn, I really like that statement and swiped it for my siggy. Hope that's OK.

And then this mess with Kimkins. It just did something to me. And to be honest, I've been eating like a pig, drinking beer, eating icecream and gaining again. I just don't think that woman realizes what she's done to people. I was so devestated by the whole thing, I just immediately went back to my old habits.......habits of comfort I guess. Anyway, sorry to have rambled. The more I type, the more I want her stopped, too. I just don't want one other person to end up feeling the way I do right now.
So who gave you permission to participate in life once more, Lisa? Wasn't it you? Nobody can take away from you that permission. We've all gone w/o something "because we were too fat" to enjoy it, like putting on a bathing suit and swimming at a public beach. We just couldn't take the hurtful comments. But returning to what made you overweight in the first place is not the answer either. First, realize that a starvation diet inclines you to binge uncontrollably. So up your total calories as fast as you can tolerate to at least 1200 or more daily, but continue low carb WOE. You will likely gain some weight at first, until your body catches up with its deprivation. If you need a refresher, dig out a copy of DANDR. Dr. Atkins laid out a fairly precise plan for those past Induction (1000 calories or more) to start climbing a ladder. He allowed for certain favourite foods to be added back in, as long as they weren't high carb white flour and sugar products. People who ignored his tailored plan did so at their peril. For some reason, many skipped this part of his plan and went straight to full feed, wondering why the pounds started to adhere once again. By climbing his carb ladder, people would find their own individual tolerance level, and have to stay there. Extremely carb intolerant folks found they couldn't leave Induction levels, but that didn't spell starvation rations. They just needed to adapt to a caveman style diet - and cavemen didn't starve! But I have to admit, with all the societal pressure to go by scale weight, it's still nice to not see it climbing.

according to the homepage of kimkins:

so, according to this, by 2001, she was 120 lbs. so, if she said she was overweight, then I am curious as to when she said it.. seems like that is conflicting information right there if she started posting in 2001.

does anyone know when she started posting and how she presented herself initially?

Kimmer came to the boards late 2000/early 2001. She posted regularly claiming to be losing her weight without effort at lightening speed. She claimed around 268 when she started and "got down to" 130 something. She then just kinda disappeared for several months until one day someone started a thread asking about "that girl who lost so much weight so quickly". Someone chimed in that they heard she had gained it back and she just magically appeared after having been gone for months. She was still claiming 268 down to 130 at that time.

At the time, I thought it was weird that she appeared suddenly when someone said she gained it back, but with what I know now, she may have started that thread herself just to get a discussion going so she could make a bigger show of coming back in. She received tons of praise, refused to show any pics and almost immediately took over the main lobby. She didn't claim 118 until she finally posted her fake before and afters (2004) and she didn't push her starting weight up to 318 until much, much later (like when she was getting ready to open her own site). By then, there were few old timers around to refute her and whenever someone did challenge her, things would usually get so snarky (mostly on her part) that the entire thread would get deleted.
