This sentence really was very powerful to me. I just wanted to tell you that. Very powerful.

thanks
saying I don't care I have friends there and am there only for them is just wrong. I myself stuggled with that kind of thinking when I was a member of another board, but if you belong to any site/group then by your membership there is an implied endorsement of the actions of that site/group.

Kimkins may have been the completely wrong way to lose weight, but it took an enormous amount of strength to stick to it. YOU did that!!! Not Heidi!!! It was YOUR determination to reclaim your life that let you come as far as you have. If you can stick to Kimkins, you can stick to anything. You must be looking pretty darned good right now if you're only 20 pounds from goal. So what if it takes another 6 months to lose it.
Time is going to pass no matter what we do, so I tell myself, in 6 months or even a year if it takes that long, I can be at goal or I can have gained all of my weight back. I can live with losing 5 pounds a month. I CANNOT live with gaining my weight back.
You are SO right! I used to tell people on Kimkins that Christmas would be here in just a few short months and they could either weigh the same or more, or have lost weight and feel good about themselves. Now I'm not even taking my own advice. Thanks for the GREAT reminder. I don't want to weight more when Christmas comes around. I still want to weigh less. Is there an arse kickin' smiley around here? LOL

Blessings,
Lisa

Joanie, do you have to be here a certain amount of time or have a certain amount of posts to use the PM function? I've been a member for over a year I think, but only have the few posts I made since last night. Well, send me a smoke signal. LOL

I haven't seen those particular posts but I've seen others of hers.

Have you ever met someone that no matter what they just aren't content? The world has stopped to make'em happy enough. Yeah, I get that way and when that happens take some pen and paper and write 20 things I'm grateful for takes the edge off. That and the ability to laugh at myself and try to remember that old saying: "Walk a mile in someone else's mocassins before opening mouth."

When you were banned from Kimkins, well, I didn't know what happened and I don't need to know. It's none of my business, but I have felt really horrible for a long time for not piping up and saying something about it or questioning it. I used to be an admin on a crafting community and we did have the unfortunate task of having to ban a couple of people, so I didn't really question it, but you were always nice to me there and you were fun and kind to everyone, so I should have questioned it! I'm so sorry I didn't. Please accept my apology for not sticking up for you then.

I'll be 47 in November and I think of all the wonderful opportunities I've wasted, all the memories I never made because I was too fat, too insecure, to ashamed to really live my life.

I've already gained back the little I lost on Kimkins and my DH and I are trying a "whole foods" approach now, with an emphasis on low carb choices. Coincidentally, we've also started walking in the State Park too! We're doing the two mile nature walk, working our way up to the 4.5 mile trail.

Again, good luck, Lisa .... I like to think there's still hope for all of us!

Good luck to you too sweety and sorry I made you cry.

Coincidentally, when my son was small, he wanted me to swim with him and I didn't either. And I too was a spectator in his life. Now he's 22 and I can never get that back with him. But I am moving forward and trying to make up for it. My husband and I had so much fun at the state park that we are planning a get away with our two grown children in January. We're going to go stay there with them and hike. And I've planned another outing to a place called Lookout Mountain here in TN for October. There's still time for us all to start participating in our lives and the lives of our children, no matter what their ages are now. Talking to you all has given me some renewed hope. Thank you so much for that.

Lisa, as I type this, your post counter says you have made 20 posts. IIRC, the system automatically allows you to send and receive PM's after you've been here 25 days and had 25 posts. So post 5 more times and you'll be able to get PM's!

Yea and why didn't that stop and make me think, too? It IS low everything. I mean, if your car is low on gas, but has all the other fluids filled and the battery fully charged, etc. you can still drive the car, it it's not out of gas I should add. If it was low on everything, it wouldn't run. I'm glad I'm blond.......at least I feel I have a good excuse for my stupidity. LOL

I do understand the comment about being a spectator in one's own life because for the last several years that's exactly what I've done.

Jeanessa and several other posters made the very excellent point that we must learn to love ourselves for who we are at any given time, whether we're fat or at our goal weight, and I don't think that can be emphasized enough. It's a project all of its own, IMO. And one I'm currently journeying on.

I have another viewpoint with something you said above, and that is I do think Heidi knows exactly what she's done, and DOES NOT CARE. The best of luck to you, LisaTN, and every other person who has suffered one way or another because of this woman.
Hi Sheridan. Thanks for the welcome. I do need to work on caring more about myself. Without sounding like I'm whining and going into great detail....I grew up thinking nobody cared. My mother should never have been a mother and on top of that, I watched her struggle with her weight and learned so many negative things from her. I know I have to try and change all that in my head, but it's so difficult when it's been engrained in your head for so many years. But it's SO true. I can care about any of you no matter your size, but I can't do it for myself. Something is wrong with that picture. Possibly I think you all deserve it and I don't. Wow, being on this message board is like having my own personal therapist. LOL I hope I am helping you all as much as you've helped me already........and in such a short amount of time. You're all the greatest!

Blessings,
Lisa

I too have been sad over the lost opportunities and missed memories but we can't go back and reclaim those years, but we can sure look forward and make every moment of the years we have left count. I had a son get married this summer, and while I may have missed swimming with him and a million other things, I figure I can be the coolest Granny when the grandchildren come along. Sounds like you are going to have a WONDERFUL time in January!

well, I'm way behind.. catching up.. so I don't know if this has been answered, and I would like to know, too. the question was, when Kimmer first started posting at LCF, did she say that she was already thin? or did she say that she was overweight, and wanted to lose weight?

according to the homepage of kimkins:
Quote:
It's called Kimkins and was developed by me, Kimmer, in 2000 when I weighed a morbidly obese 318 pounds! In less than a year I lost 198 pounds and kept it off!
so, according to this, by 2001, she was 120 lbs. so, if she said she was overweight, then I am curious as to when she said it.. seems like that is conflicting information right there if she started posting in 2001.

does anyone know when she started posting and how she presented herself initially?

Lisa I can't speak for others here, but reading your posts...you have definitely helped me! I am soooo very happy that your being here has helped you too! Things may get sidetracked here at times, but this really and truly is the reason we're all here.
I think what you said about "deserving" is so true. I think that's the biggest battle I have had with my weight...believing that I "deserve" to be happy. I believe we can't make lasting change in our lives until we can change what we believe about ourselves.
You said you think "we're all the greatest". Well after your posts...I happen to think you're pretty great too and I am so glad you're here!
