Thanks for the link Cheri and the caring post - I will check it out
There is not a Christmas that goes by that I dont think and remember how sadly Karen C passed away - as that is the time we hear her most now days -

Another problem I have is people going so low in calories. It has been confimed by more then one doctor that if you do not get enough calories in you could end up with heart problems. Look at Karen Carpenter... she died from anorexia.. problem is.. she was a recovering anorexic and was putting some weight back on but the damage she did to her heart was so extreme that it was too little too late. I don't want that to happen to anyone. I keep everyone in my prayers and hope that they find a diet plan that is both safe and above all doctor approved.

Some are trying to say that Kimmer doesn't condone eating 300-400 calories a day and where did they get that at... but I can tell you that I had a discussion with her before she left here because I was alarmed when I read how little some were eating. I said "kimmer, surely you do not condone this type of eating behavior" and she said why not? Gastric Bypass patients eat that much. Ummm that is not true. My best friend had this surgery done and though she ate little at first it was only for the first week.. then things were added in... Gastric Bypass patients are suppose to eat their protein first... not drink with meals as it is empty calories that will fill them up and they will not get their food in. Then they are suppose to drink 2-3 protein shakes a day. They are required to get in a certain amount of protein and calories in so they do not lose muscle mass. She eats about 1200 calories a day.

I don't know where I am going with this really... I just wanted to post what my feelings are on the subject. Regardless of the kimkins diet as written being "ok" or not the fact is the advice given when people stalled was not advice that any doctor or nutritionist would ever suggest. I want everyone to be safe and really think when they keep cutting calories or are afraid to eat... This is suppose to be a lifestyle change.. not a quick fix that as soon as you stop doing it you gain tons of weight back. I have seen too many people say that they are eating next to nothing and can't add anything back in because they are gaining like crazy. Its like they are in a trap... and the only way out of it is to throw the scale away... start exercising... eat 6 small meals in the day and hunker down and wait it out. You can repair the damage done but that is just the metabolism. Don't think it is okay to eat so little and then try to repair your metabolism later... because it is the damage you have done that is irrepairable that is going to be the issue. Are you absolutely SURE you haven't done heart damage? Please don't take a chance. Do yourself a favor and do it the healthy way...

Here is the interview with Colette Heimowitz... Please read it... she addresses a lot of the issues that people are worried about...

Kinda like this whole kimkins diet being dangerous and the horrible encouragement and advice being handed out by everyone including Kimmer herself wouldn't you say???

How would you feel if you woke up to find you needed to be rushed to hospital because of serious symptoms resembling a heart attack or stroke? Do you think THAT IS A GAME???

This thread started out as a fascination thread about Kimmer. It then went in the direction of what we needed to do to shut her down. I’m not sure where it is now.

I’ve been a member here for four years - not always saying a whole lot. I was brought up to believe that you learn a whole lot just by listening - in this case - reading. I really didn’t want to admit this, but I did Kimkins and took the information right from this site. Fortunately I quit before I encountered too many serious health risks. Unfortunately I didn’t quit fast enough because I did have the hair loss and several other side-effects of a very low calorie diet. That’s what made me come to these threads and start reading, and that‘s the ONLY reason that I joined in these conversations. I never wanted to admit that I was so stupid that I did Kimkins, and since we all have secrets, I can say that this was mine. It isn’t something I am proud of.

I have hesitated to post some of my thoughts because the written word can always be misinterpreted, and I really don’t want to be attacked, but after today I feel like I have to express my feelings. I just want to point out that if I, a member here for four years, am fearful to say what I think, how do you think new people feel? If some of the current members of Kimkins wanted to reach out, I’m not sure that they would want this kind of environment. Yes, I know that many have come here, and they have been welcomed, but lately I can see how the tone of this thread can drive people away. Yes, I know that there are many other threads to help them, but if Kimkins people come to this site, I'd guess almost all of them would come to the fascination thread first.

Lately it seems that we are almost blood thirsty in our quest to bring her down. When there is no information on Heidi available, I sometimes feel like I am part of a mob searching anywhere and everywhere to find information on anyone who has anything to do with Kimkins. I’ve seen some folks come here over this last week, and I really did feel sorry for several of them. It’s almost like we expect them to completely fall on the sword before we accept them here. And when we don’t have ‘them’ to attack, we start to attack our own.

Instead of giving people the benefit of the doubt, we will take a post and just pick it apart - grabbing sometimes onto one word or one sentence. Some people will take things one way and others will take it another way, and instead of getting clarification, we swarm like a hive of bees.

Why are we doing this? It’s getting in the way of what, I think, most of us are trying to do here and that is to get that Kimkins site shut down.

How many pages do we read before we even see Heidi’s name anymore? When people (and I’m not talking about Tippy or Singinglass) come here, we have an opportunity to state the facts of why we feel the way we do. Instead we immediately go into attack mode if one wrong thing is said.

Where is the focus and what is the goal? The goal is get rid of Heidi, and frankly, I sometimes think we lose sight of that, as we are so caught up in unnecessary drama.

Just so I’m clear on where I stand, I feel like Heidi and anyone in a paid position on her site are fair game. That includes the paid admins and moderators and whatever other titles some of these people hold. When a person is paid to dispense advice, that person SHOULD be held responsible.

I do feel though that we have to accept that the paid members still remaining on the Kimkins website are there because they paid to be there, and that’s where they want to be - regardless if the rest of us understand or agree with it. Do we not catch more flies with honey? If we want to see people leave that site, we aren’t going to get them to do that by attacking them. Even if many of them are on the fencepost, it’s human nature to dig in your heels when you feel attacked. Didn’t we learn that as teenagers? All Mom and Dad had to say was, “No” and I wanted something all the more.

Let’s learn some tolerance here and not just for the Kimkins members who haven’t left yet - but for our own people - right here.

If you read a post, before you lash out, take a step back. Reread it several times. See how other people respond to it. Just maybe they will see something in the post that you didn’t see. Maybe they will have an entirely different slant on it. Some of us are here because of side effects from Kimkins. Some are here because they paid for a web site and didn’t receive what they were promised. Others are here because, let’s face it, it is pretty entertaining and even funny at times. Others are here because they like the drama.

Regardless of the reason, let’s learn to be a little more tolerant. We have so much information to provide that we don’t have to go into attack mode. There’s no reason for it.

If I’ve angered anyone, I am truly sorry.

I heard from an old KK friend that another KK friend got banned from the site yesterday.......all she did was send a PM to a friend telling her about another site that a bunch of current and ex-KK'ers are hanging out at. she apparently is floored that she was banned for this; she had completely stayed away from the controversy.

Looking for hackers, my a** !!!!

Singinglass: I would have replied to your post with a PM at the KK website, but I can't. I am not a member anymore, because you banned me. And don't say you did not, because I didn't hear you speak up for me when I complained about Melt being nasty. Remember? Anyhow, I know Bobby has made a similar comment about you whining about "the crime that has happened", but I just feel like I have to write this to you to get it out of my system. First of all I didn't expect to see your face here, as I was reading through the posts. Then I read what happened to you, and here is what I want to say to you. I really, honestly wish that I could find it in my heart to feel sorry for you - but I can't. Do I think people should be making threatening phone calls? No. Do I support what happened to you? Not at all. But let there be no misunderstanding: You are talking about a crime that has happened to you, when YOU support Heidi's fraud. (Bobby said that earlier, and I couldn't agree more). You have so much empathy with yourself and come here posting about how you got hurt, but do you ever think about people that get hurt by you and KK? Do you think about Christin? Do you think about Deni? Do you think about all the faceless people that get hurt on a daily basis following your advice? Do you think about all the people that gave their money to KK hoping hoping to find support, friends and a real weight loss program with a real founder? Or let me ask you this way: DO YOU CARE ABOUT ANYBODY ELSE BUT YOURSELF?

I haven't seen one post from you saying that you are sorry for anybody who experienced any kind of damage from KK. So, why would I feel sorry for you now? I don't support what happened to you, but I also think that it is important for you to understand that life is a boomerang. It hits you in the neck when you don't expect it. I guess that's what happened to you.
