anani, if you're not a professional writer, you should think of becoming one. The brave heart and sensitive soul that you possess simply shine through your wonderful words. You have given us a finely-crafted torch to pass on, even though you say you have finished your leg of this race to justice.

but then i read more about the people who i thought it was working well for...only to find out that those people were doing "tweaks" that were making it work well for them, so in essence, they weren't doing the published plans. that was enlightening

and then the people who were doing it completely as written...were actually facing serious medical repercussions...that was alarming.

so, then i started to read more on my own and look into things that you and controlled carbs and others were posting...and that was eye-opening.

i then changed my stance on supporting the published kimkins plans as any kind of on-going weight loss plan that can be healthy...they are in fact, nutritionally bankrupt.
Doesn't sound like some evil ring leader that started all this to me!

I don't understand why people have to blame you and even slamboard. Yeah you have both contributed, lots have but it was Kimmer and the diet that is the cause of it and people have been against it for a long time but always out numbered. Then when Jimmy came along and announced he was going on it, people started speaking out more and finding there was more whom agreed with them and thus they became louder. It was slamboard who then joined in not the other way around.

This isn't some evil conspiracy by a couple of disgruntled people that Kimmer ticked off. It is the uproar of a lot of people whom are disgusted in this diet, the founder, reputable people whom were supporting it and what kimmer and her diet were getting away with until recently.

Did you make sure he was aware that bootcamp was only 500 calories?

My dear hubby has an appointment with his nutrionalist on Tuesday so I think I may print a copy of kimkins and see what she has to say about it. I am sure she will have many wise words to say.

Tippy, perhaps you never heard stories of hair clumps falling out before all of this because it doesn't happen overnight. Mine happened about 2.5 months into it. I realize the site was around long before I arrived but everyone is different. Not everyone will lose their hair, but I can attest to clumps of hair falling out. If I had joined a year ago, then you would have heard about it then.
Thats the thing isn't it, until the WW mag and Jimmy's announcement in June there were only a few thousand members and now there are supposedly 40,000!

I am NEVER gonna catch up on these two threads. Lol.
I wanna read 'em all but I keep getting behind just by running to the bathroom.

But, I remember way back "in da day" when she wouldn't post pics...it was always very odd, to say the least.

That's all I had to say. Not really worth two cents, but oh well.

Just for FYI, my join date says 2007 (had to get a new account), but I was here starting way back in, um...when was that...2001ish.

Anani,

I don't spend much time online anymore, but I have been reading these threads because I had considered joining the Kimkins site until I found out what it was really about.

Your post was one of the most powerful I have read anywhere. It was unbelievable!

I just read your wonderful letter. It was beautifully written and says so much. I am new to all of this and I have been playing around with the Kimkins diet off and on since I read an article on Kimkins in a national magazine I purchased at checkout.

I just started reading some of the messages on this thread today and asked a few questions and got some answers, and was given some websites to research. I was completely unaware of this whole Kimkins scam. I immediately emailed my sister, who was smart enough not to take my encouragement to do Kimkins, and told her it was a good thing she didn't follow my lead and why. I hope Dr. Phil or Oprah will give some national exposure to your letter and what you have to say.

On the other hand, I am also very skeptical now, and there is a part of me that wonders if this exposure is nothing but a scam. I also question the authenticity of the 3 websites of the ex-patrons / ex-employees of Kimkins (Becky, Deni, Christin, and Jimmy). I found these links on 3fatchicks. Even you and your wonderful letter has fallen under this veil of skepticism, but I will take your very well-written advice:
Quote:
"In closing, I have this to say to all of you. Love yourself enough to do the research. To do what’s right for you and for those who love and need you. Your children, your husband, your sisters and brothers, parents and all who love you are counting on you to make the right choices. Please don’t sell their need for you and your long-term health and well being, for an illusion."
Even if it turns out that you are not REAL, your advice is sound and worth repeating. Thank you!

Tippy, Are you seriously maintaining on 700/800 calories - seems a bit low don't you think?

Do the right thing and admit you were wrong about Kimkins and Kimmer. I know its hard to come to terms with it but Kimmer is a fraud and so is Kimkins. Kimmer truly has you under her spell as you can't see what's right in front of your eyes.

Anani is real, and her advice is sound. The others are real as well. Only Kimmer isn't real. We expect you to be skeptical - who wouldn't be after being run through the Heidi/Kimmer mill? But put that skepticism to good use. Anani said to do research and don't sacrifice your health in pursuit of an illusion. That is easier said than done, but none of the healthy ways to lose will promise miracles overnight. Very fast weight loss and KEEPING IT OFF are an illusion. Along with Atkins and other plans, there must be a sound segue into maintenance, not losing and gaining, losing and gaining ad infinitum. For the best information, go directly to the author of the plan. Don't filter it through the opinions of others. If it doesn't have a lot of science to support it, be very cautious. However, if you want to stay on LCF And may I suggest the Main Lobby or Other Plans as a place to start.

The following characters are entirely fictional and any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, is entirely coincidental. Some of the characters may have certain traits and/or mannerisms that may seem to suggest actual persons but we make no claim that these traits exist at all or in this combination in any person, living or dead.

Slimmer

There once was a woman who wrote "My name's Kimmer",
She said, “Follow me if you want to be slimmer.
I’ve a simple solution to all of your woes,
And ever so soon, you’ll be buying new clothes.”

“Just listen to me if you want an example,
For I once looked like you, with a bootie so ample.
Now I’m lean and I’m svelte, one-ninety-eight less,
As my photo will show you, in my shiny red dress”

“Are you excited yet? You should be you know,
Just fourteen-ninety-five, and that’s not much dough.
Heidi K Diaz is the name on the check,
Paypal is fine, though I’m dumb with high tech.”

“My Foster boys will thank you, as my dollars go there,
I want nothing for me, though my cupboards are bare.
I give as “anonymous”, to unfortunate souls,
So keep sending me money for benevolent goals.”

So Kimkins was born in the bytes and the bits,
Of a virtual world, where truth seldom sits.
Her followers believed in their futures hereafter,
As photos brought hope, in the befores and the afters.

“Don’t follow Fatkins, if you’re expecting a cure,
For greezy cheesburgers are an evil lure.
Just drink some water, you’ve plenty of food,
Saved up in your ass, to feed a whole brood.”

“What?, you’re snatty? Well, that’s a wonderful thing!
And that dizziness you feel, means the fat will not cling.
So your hair’s in the shower? There’s nothing to fear,
Just put on a wig, as you take off your rear.”

“Better than surgery,” the headlines then shouted,
And more followers came, her success loudly touted.
“Fifty-nine-ninety-five is not that much more,
Isn’t it worth it, to wear a size four?”

But questions arose as to matters of truth,
Detectives found Google, and started to sleuth.
“I’m Kim Drake, Vanessa, Kimmer1 and two,
You Negative Nancy Naysayers, don’t have a clue.”

“So I bear a resemblance to Jacyln Smith,
My beauty is legend, so just pay me forthwith.
Today I am Vincent, tomorrow I’m Brad.
But, my name is NOT Heidi, and you’re making me mad.”

But digital pixels soon filled all their screens,
As the camera revealed the revered diet queen.
Her followers were saddened, as each one now knows,
Their friend was no friend, it was all a big show.

The girl in the red dress was nowhere about,
The truth had been hidden, there was now little doubt.
Some followers said, “Liar, you’ve stolen our dreams.”
But some still hung on, steadfast to her schemes.

In truth shines a light that lies cannot hide,
And those who saw clearly what can’t be denied,
Shared stories of betrayal in elegant prose,
Kimmer revealed, like the emperor with no clothes.
