1 week completed!
Had to share...
I weighed myself this morning after 5 days on K/E and 2 on kimkins, and I've lost 7.6 pounds! That is truly amazing!Another week of kimkins and then I'm going to start "cycling." Glad I found this board - it has great info. ![]() |

Thanks guys!
![]() OK, here's an explanation: Cycling is when you do kimkins during the weekdays and another plan (like regular Atkins) on the weekends. You "cycle" your carbs & fat up and down to keep things interesting and not let your body get into a routine. (I got the idea from Janamonkey, I believe, so she can probably explain more...) Anyway, that's basically my plan - kimkins for 5 days a week and regular Atkins for 2 (allowing limited "treats" like LC tortillas, OMM's, cheesecake... and by limited I mean 1 or 2 for the weekend - don't want to go off on a bender!) HTH! |

well that sounds very interesting! I would love to treat myself a bit with in reason...lol...I bought some LC brownie mix that looked good but i am afraid to make them since i am doing K/E and obviously can't have it..maybe it if do K/E 5 days a week and then Kimkins on the weekends...what do you think?

Thanks everyone!
flagal - I'm no expert, but that sounds reasonable... providing you don't eat the whole pan of brownies! LOL! NeedToLose - Honestly, I can't answer your question because I haven't tried it yet. I plan to after this week. But, I have seen others on this board who mention doing it and they seem to be fine. Maybe do a search for cycling (or zig zagging - it's also called that, I think) and see what you come up with. My big thing is to still watch my calories and carbs, even on my non-kimkins days... don't want to go off the deep end, but still want to "shake it up" and not get bored. If I lose 1 or 2 fewer pounds for the week because of it, that's OK with me because I know I'm still losing and I'm sticking to my plan without feeling deprived. HTH and let us know how it works for you if you try it! |

NDSunflowers - congrats on your loss. 7.6lbs is awesome.
Thanks for the cycling info. I have read that term a lot and wasn't quite sure what it meant in relation to weight loss. That will work for me. I haven't started yet either. I am gathering all the info I can and meun idea's. Otherwise, if it isn't planned, I won't be able to stick with it. On the K/E does anyone eat turkey with mayo (turkey salad), chicken salad or is it really just straight up lean meat? I am not much of a meat person but would eat turkey grinded up with mayo, same with chicken.

NeedToLose: I think most people avoid real mayo because it is so high in fat. If you can find a low fat or fat-free mayo (is there such an animal???) that would probably work, in limited quantities. I used dijonnaise instead, and while it does have 1g carb per serving, the fat is 0.
& Miss Lose... What I did before I started was picked up a whole bunch of eggs, boiled a bunch and kept some for b-fast, also got some egg substitute (like Egg Beaters) as well as some really low fat & low carb ham slices & turkey slices, a bag of boneless, skinless frozen chicken tenders, a bag of tilapia filets and some of those single-serving tuna cups. This made it easy to grab lunch or a snack and make simple dinners since I'm the only one in the family doing this plan. As far as cooking the chicken and fish... I found some seasoning grinders made by Weber and I also have a Pampered Chef Kitchen Spritzer (for spraying olive oils... you can also find spray olive oils by the Pam). Then I spray the pan, spray one side of the chicken or fish, grind on the seasoning, put it in the pan, seasoning side down, then spray the other side with oil and season. Both of these things cook up pretty quick this way. (And if you forget to thaw, just pop them in some lukewarm water in the sink for about 10 min and you should be fine. With the tuna cups, you can eat plain, or add some lite mayo, mustard or dijonnaise. I'm on kimkins now, so I just mixed mine with 2 HB eggs (could do whole or just whites depending on if you're doing K/E or kimkins), 2 baby dill pickles chopped and some lite mayo, then ate it with a celery stalk. Yum! With the ham and turkey slices, you can roll and eat for lunch or dinner, or with the ham, I like to take a slice and dice it really small, then mix it in my scrambled eggs. I usually make those with 1 or 2 whole eggs and 2 - 3 egg whites, depending on how hungry I am in the morning. With the egg substitute, you can spray a muffin pan with cooking spray, pour it in each muffin cup to 3/4 full, mix in a tiny bit of ham, or jalapenos, or whatever and bake for 25 - 30 min. Great for a snack or b-fast on the go. Also, I still looking around for a good whey protein powder here where I live, but others on this board make shakes for snacks or meals. HTH! Good luck! |

Jake - If you've got a Costco or Sams Club near you, that's a good place, otherwise I know Walmart carries it and probably most other grocery stores.
I'm guessing you could probably try it with regular egg whites, although I'd whip them with some water and maybe 1 or 2 whole eggs for the batch. Good luck! |

Save the LC brownies for maintenance! That is a good idea on the KE during the week and Kimkins on the weekends - that is what I did... and still for maintenance pretty basic KE during the week (more calories and fat though ) but that lets me have a pretty lax Atkins on the weekends and maintain nicely! |

NDSunflowers- thanks so much for the great tips. I need to be fully prepared when I start this WOE. I have quite a bit of weight I want to lose so I have to have a plan
![]() I will check out the dijioniase then since it has only 1 carb and no fat. i didn't think mayo would work since it is high in fat. I just need food ideas ![]() I can't wait to try the egg muffins. They sound simple to make and yummy. I am so glad i found this board. I thought about joining Kimkins because of the WW magazine and all the great losses posted but I think this site is just perfect. Everyone is so helpful. ![]() |

Question about the egg muffins..do you use regular size muffin pan or small muffin pan? Does it matter? The video I found on youtube that shows Amy making them, I think she used a smaller muffin pan. I'd like to try making these tonight. So please let me know soon...thanks!

So sorry! I've been busy and am behind on my reading...
As for the muffin tin, I use the regular size one. But, I don't think it really matters - just cook 'em till they're done (probably 15 - 25 min depending on size). |
