New here - started a week ago

Hi all.

I have a ton of weight to lose and I started a week ago. So far since 7/2 I lost 6 pounds. Considering that I am almost 300 pounds, I thought I would loose more then 6 pounds my first week.

Can some one please take a look at my fitday, and tell me what you think and what I need to change. Here is the link: http://www.fitday.com/WebFit/PublicJ...?Owner=maichik

Also, today's manu only includes breakfast and lunch. I will still have dinner tonight.

Thanks,

WOE: Eating Low: LCal, LFat, LCarb
Sorry, I can't comment on your fitday. I'm pretty new myself. I've only been doing this 1 week.

I'm replying because I wanted to congratulate you on your 6pound weightloss. Don't get discouraged. Losing 6 pounds in 1 week is terrific!

Remember that everyone's body is different. There may be a significant weight drop for you right around the corner.

I'm going to paste a quote from Divine Miss M. It was her reply to someone who was at a weight stall or gain. Perhaps it will help you. You may also want to check out the info in the "Summer 2007 Kimkins and K/E Newbies Thread."

Wishing you much success!

Make sure your WOE is low-fat and low-carb. (Count total carbs, not net carbs.) Especially look to the total amts. of fat you are consuming per day. The "best" losers on the Kimkins boards all say they keep their fat grams per day to under 30.

(This was a mistake I started making, since I was more concerned about carbs.) Once I pulled out even small amts. of added fats (like 1 tsp. real butter, or 1 tbsp. real ranch dressing), and fully returned to a KE menu, the wt. began to drop again.

Stick with lean proteins (and have beef and pork rarely).

Totally avoid cheese. If you must have cheese, stick to the occasional 1 piece of string cheese allowable on Kimkins (but not KE).

Watch sodium content. Since starting this WOE, I discovered I am very sensitive to sodium levels in foods (Even canned low-fat chicken broth makes me gain wt...I'm talking 5 lbs. in 2 days!) You might not have this problem, but you can only find out thru experience.

Drink plenty of clear liquids that are 0 carb/0 cals. There are 0 cal/0 carb flavored waters on the market, and they really make for a refreshing change.

How about diet sodas? Too many can stall us, due to the aspartame content.

Try whey protein "shakes" for replacement meals. They usually can push the wt. loss down again, because they are usally very low in fat and carbs, sporting anywhere from 19-23 total protein grams per day. (A good protein gram aim per day is between 60-70 for fantastic wt. loss, but no more than 90. Depends on our wt. and how our own bodies react. Experiment a bit and see what happens.)

Are you exercising? That can cause temporary gain...but it's a good one since you're building and toning muscle plus losing fat. The scale can't tell you that, though. All it does is weigh your total body amt. The exercise gain will pass AND you will lose a great amt. of inches!

Are you a woman near PMS or TOM time? Another reason for temporary gains. Stick with it anyway! Those two thing are, unfortunately, "monthly" challenges with which most of us women have to deal! Drink lots of liquids, take supplements, eat more lean proteins when you find yourself hungry during this time.

Hope all this info helps you!

6 pounds the first week is a great loss. Most of it is water weight, which is fine. Just stick with the plan, and you will continue to lose.

Congratulations on starting. You won't be disappointed with your results.

IMHO I think your fit day looks good you are keeping your fat low i try to keep my well under 30g per day if i can...and your carb count looks good as well. I think that 6lbs is a great amount of weight and if you stick with it you will see the weight come off. Don't get discouraged if you do not loose for a few days, as this happens to me I stay the same weight for 2-3 days and then have a giant woosh of 3 or so lbs...it will happen for you if you stay dedicated to the plan! Good luck and you are doing very well!

Hi! Your numbers look great. The only things I could see that might be stalling you are the beef (big staller for a lot of people because of how the body digests it), and although there aren't any official limits on protein, I've read repeatedly that people try to keep it between 60 and 90 grams. Your carbs are awesome, as are your fats! You look like you're really giving this a great effort. Are you drinking any Crystal light or coffee or anything like that? They have hidden carbs, as do powdered sweeteners. I know that with the Crystal Light, you're supposed to count one carb for every 8 oz. I'm not saying that you're drinking any of these things, I just wanted to point this out as it is a fairly common problem for a lot of people. But really, your Fitday looks awesome! Good luck on your weight loss journey.

Kimkimy,

I do drink Crystal light and 4C drinks, but I taka a 'to go' packet that is supposed to be for 8oz and put in a gallon jug of water which I drink most of during the day. But since it is only 8oz ration of drink mix, it is only 1 carb, so I don't think it is a big deal.
I don't drink coffee or anything else for that matter. Just an extreemely diluted Crystal light.

As far as beef, I blame DH. He got these fabulous steaks and I have been nibling on them for a bit.

Mostly it is grilled checken breast and water packed tuna, and hard boiled eggs.
