Kimkins...but more calories. What diet would that be?

If I increased calories to 1200 but still stuck to lean protein, eggs, and veggies but still no dairy, nuts, fruit, or grains - what diet would that be?

I like the idea of eating low carb/low cal/low fat but I am having trouble getting past the low, low cal thing. I tend to be more successful if I know exactly what to do so I'd like to know what diet that would be so I can read up on it.
Like Kimkins...just more calories. Any ideas?

This is basically what I do. It's working for me! I also cycle calories a bit so if I have a lower cal day I will balance it out the next day.

If you need to read about it, get the Stillman book. That's essentially what K/E is. He's got a variety of diets you can try, some of which are rather bizarre.

The plan you are describing doesn't need to have a name. It can just be what you said - low cal/low fat/low carb but 1,000 cals a day, or 1,200 a day, or whatever. You just increase your food intake up to what you think is an appropriate calorie level for yourself.

I geuss I do about the same. I do not count calories. I eat when I am hungry. Just keep to the simple limits of what I eat to K/E.

maybe i'm blind but i never saw where kimmer said to limit your calories under 1200 on kimkins. I know the Bootcamp thing was very low. But I thought kimmer's whole deal was to eat lean protein and moderate veggies until satisfied.

I guess I'm not sure how much fat and carbs I should be taking in. That's where the confusion is for me. Fitday is so helpful, though, so I'm sure I can make it work.

I've heard that cycling calories (also called zig zagging) really works for people to prevent plateaus.

That's what I do too, but if I have a craving I do have a handful of nuts, and water. Why does it have to have a name? Sounds like it works, just do it, and post so that others can gain from your knowledge.

I never saw anything about her saying calories should be limited, either. Maybe she did - I don't know. But what I have seen is Kimkins and other Kimkins dieters post about eating very low calories. Anywhere from 250-750. That sounds very low to me. So I guess I'm wondering if I eat more calories 1200+, am I still doing Kimkins? If I eat more than 20 carbs am I still doing Kimkins? If not, then what am I doing?

Atkins '72? Really? All this time I thought Atkins '72 was a more fatty low carb diet. Thanks for the info.

Oh, and your avatar is so funny. Eh?

Over the weekend I read the entire "Ask Kimmer" thread, and she does stress low calories, although I don't remember a particular number. She kept asking everyone to think of those who had gastric bypass and only eat 400 - 500 calories, as an example. NOT reciting word-for-word, so please do not get on me. With all the Kimmer info being thrown around today, I do not want to be accused of anything! LOL

I find upping my calories after a few days of low does me good, too. That is what got me into the 140's finally. I may do that tonight as it is my last day on K/E. I am just dying to get back to Atkins 72 with a hint of Kimkins - more variety and fiber to get me regular!

I don't drown my salads in highfat salad dressings. I just use a little bit of them...just enough to nicely coat the greens. I also cut the fat/skin off my meats and buy extra lean ground beef. It still has fat in the meat but less goes into my body then eating regular ground beef.
Right and Kimmer did say that, you do what works for you. She'll stand by that, and so will I. I have to mention, the calories you are ready might be bootcampish, I find that if my calories are around 1000-1200 I am a loser...

I do kimkins for the weekdays, atkins on the weekends. I eat LOTS more veggies, avocados, nuts, etc on the weekends. I don't do dairy at all but I try to keep it simple during the week and have higher cal/carb days on the weekends. Nothing to crazy, or regimented really. It's both for my metabolism AND my sanity. I need variety!

I understand how you feel. The low calories does worry me at times. I was also worried about all the fat when I was doing Atkins Induction. Even with all the fat I was losing. When I think about it too much I guess I really don't know what I am doing. Perhaps Atkins but not as much fat as recommended. I guess it wouldn't be Atkins if I made changes to it. Is it Kimmers?? Well the protein is not always lean. Oh well, I'll just keep doing what I am doing and hopefully keep losing weight. I guess I'll just say I have a low carb nutrition plan.

Also, I do notice that I lose more when I eat more calories. I'm 5'1" weighed 129.6 this morning and have an ultimate goal of 115 lbs. Things go well if I just stick to low carb eating (20 g and under). My diet consists of meats (try to stay lean but not always), eggs, egg beaters, veggies, 0 cal drinks, splenda, herbs and spices. I'll introduce cheese once I get to my goal weight. I love cheese so I can't weight.

Good luck!

WOE: Own version of LC
I was doing my own version of LC which consisted of lean meats, veggies, fruit, nuts, and yes fat free cheese ( I'm a cheese addict) until I stalled. I'm trying K/E and Kimkins until I get back down to my pre- pregnancy weight. After that, I will go back to that but really watch my cheese. I'm just about there. I miss my nuts, veggies and fruit.

KISS was put together by some of us Atkinsfriends in late 1999 and early 2000.

This would perfectly exemplify Kimkins with more calories and much healthier in my opinion.

Here is a website I created eons ago with KISS guidelines:

I set a personal limit of 1000 calories per day, kept carbs to under 20
and used fat sparingly. I lost 60 lbs in 4.5 months. Also no faux foods or alcohol and I exercised.
