That's awesome, Bella! I wish I could work out like I want to on less calories but I feel so exhausted. I think I need a minimum of 1200 to do the kind of intense exercise that I like to do like The Firm. Some of their workouts can burn upwards of 300 calories and I want to have the energy to hit it hard when I pop that tape or DVD in.

I think I will increase my calories to approximately 1200 and carbs to 30. I'll do that next week. This week I'm commited to M/E with some people here and I want to see that through.

How much do you want to lose, and when did you start?

I started at the end of May and I'd like to lose about 60 lbs total. I've lost 15 so far.

Bella, please do offer any feedback, suggestions, etc. It's always best to ask for advice from those who are successful, right?

I don't have any menu ideas besides more veggies than I've been eating and more lean protein.

My calories are normally 800-900 with 20 or less carbs. Today I had 1010 calories and 19 carbs. My weight loss had slowed down already but I am losing inches! Im in ketosis so all is good.

This week I'm doing M/E so I'm mostly eating eggs, chicken, and fish.
Next week I'll be adding salad for lunch and cooked veggies for dinner along with whatever protein I choose.

Haha! Yeah my nickname does come from Kamikaze. My first name is Crystal and everyone used to call me Cry. So I just mixed the two together "Kamicryze"

WOE: My way of Low carbing- still figuring it all out

Hello to all of you

I have been reading these boards the last few wks trying to get ideas on weight loss. You all are so motivating to me. I do need idea's on menu plans. I read about Bella and her 1000 cals, 20 carbs a day and I dont know what kind of food to eat to keep it that low but her weight loss in 4.5 months are so motivating. I have read all about Kimkins. I have to be honest I am not much of a meat eater, I love carbs but know that when i cut carbs, I can lose weight.

Just wanted to say hi!

NeedtoLose, it's actually not difficult to get to <20 carbs per day and 1,000 calories. I do it pretty much daily. Some days my fat is higher than others, depending on if I have a tough workout.

Here's one sample from last week for me:

B - Eggbeaters, 2/3 cup, with 1/8 cup pizza sauce and Italian spices;
3-ounce slice grilled ham
L - turkey burger with 1/8 cup shredded cheddar
D - 6-8 ounces grilled chicken with 2 tablespoons salsa or 1 tablespoon BBQ sauce; 3 ounces grilled shrimp in chile-lime seasoning

This is less than 800 calories and about 7 carbs total. And I don't get hungry!

Thanks for responding PinkParsley. Your menu seems pretty good and filling. Do you buy lean meats? I love cheese, I drink a bunch of diet coke, and I do like deli meats or salads such as turkey or chicken but then worry about my fat content. I really believe for me, the low carb version is the way to go. I have read a lot about ketosis. Are you in that? I would like to get in it to see what it feels like. I haven't started yet since I am trying to come up with my own plan or follow k/e and then kimkins.

I assume I am in ketosis because I haven't eaten any carbs above about 10 grams a day for the last week (I started a week ago and have dropped 10 pounds so far).

I haven't eaten any beef since being on KE, but if I did I would add in some tenderloin or maybe the leanest hamburger meat I can find. All of my chicken is white meat without the skin, and the turkey (ground or formed in burgers) all has about 7 grams of fat in 4 ounces, which is a serving.

The only cheese I eat is in tiny amounts as a garnish. I buy it already shredded in small bags because I don't use it that often. I drink 1-2 diet sodas a day, but more often I drink unsweetened homemade iced tea. Diet soda never stalled me in the past when I did Atkins, and I drank even more back then.

So far I'm happy with KE. It's difficult on some days to eat even up to 800 calories - that's the ketosis part. I am surprised at how much I lost this past week considering I don't have a huge amount to lose. It's the most I've ever lost in a week by far! I should also say that I was an Atkins person before this, and though I wasn't in ketosis when I started the plan, I've been in ketosis off and on for the last couple of years. And this plan is still packing a punch as far as dropping the weight.

Keep us posted on what you plan to do. Post some of your menus - it helps everybody get ideas on how to eat. The plan is pretty limited in food choices, so I love suggestions and seeing what other people are doing.

Congrats on 10lbs in one wk, that is amazing. I like turkey sausage, deli lunch meats, turkey burgers, chili, taco salads so I have options but don't think these would work on Kimkins. I get bored eating the same food. I would have to pretty much give up my cheese because of the fat content. I have the string cheeses that I love and regular cheese as well.

I actually lost 25lbs these past few months. I am 5'4" and was up to almost 220, now i am down to 196 ish. I have stalled recently and want to get losing again. It is so easy to go back to old eating once you start. I have never experienced ketosis and would like too for the appetite suppression. the Kimkins appeals to me because of the faster weight loss.

I have read that caffeine and diet soda etc stalls weight loss but I don't really think it does either.

Thanks so much for your ideas. I will definitely post menus etc. once I figure out what I am going to eat and when I am starting. I need to write a wkly menu out for myself and buy the stuff.

Good morning ladies!

This is what my plan looked like if that is helpful to anyone.... Bella

****************************************

Bella's Life by the Sea Plan
5 ft 7 inches, 52 yrs young
Start weight: 210
Goal weight: 150
today's weight : 142

20 carbs per day limit. No net carbs

Calorie limit of 1000.

Use fitday every day to keep track of everything!
No faux foods (shakes, bars etc)
Organic when possible, avoid prepackaged foods

Followed Atkins induction 72 plan most of the time
but also watched calories and used fats sparingly!

Exercise 5-6 times per week; cardio 50m/weights 2X week

Lots of salads, grilled chicken, "some" beef.

Endured hunger to lose weight!

Sample Menu:
B: 1 ounces chicken/1/4 cup cottage cheese OR
2 eggs scrambled with 2 pieces bacon
If not too hungry then 1/2 flax muffin

L: grilled chicken salad (fresh and hot!) with 2-3 ounces
chicken, 1 cup lettuce or raw spinach, sprinkle of feta cheese,
3 kalamata olives, Low carb dressing (just a little!)

D: 3 ounces protein, veggies such as 1/4 cup mushrooms with
3-4 strips red peppers cooked OR brocolli OR a second salad

snacks: sf jello 1 cup per day, 1 ounce string cheese, celery
I also eat Trader Joe's Greek Yogurt with a sprinkle of oatmeal.
Good Earth tea, water to stave off hunger! 1 diet coke per day,

Bella, thanks for sharing. Do you find yourself as hungry now that you are thinner? That is my biggest issue. I feel like I am always hungry then I over indulge. I love the thought of quicker weight loss. The 1-2lb a wk takes too long and then I get frustrated. I have no idea what the Atkins 72 plan is so I am going to check that out.

Lori,

I learned to deal with hunger in a big way this time! I was really hungry during the 3 lb loss per week phase (maybe about 3 months) but I kept seeing the great results so I coped with it. Now I am not so hungry cause I can eat more! But I still eat low carb and very carefully, just more calories with protein usually and a little more fat.

I have battled weight loss my entire life. I went on the Medifast diet in the early 90's when it was strictly liquid diet and no food, been to Weight Watchers, etc.. lost 50 and would gain 60lbs.

I never knew about low carb until fairly recently. I know that is where most of my weight comes from, I am a carb addict ! With all that said, I no getting use to hunger is a part of losing weight and seeing the scale drop is the motivation that works to keep going! I hope I am in your spot in a few months. I have never been "thin", maybe when I was 8 and I don't know how it feels but can only imagine it is worth every effort.
