See that bothers me too. I can't understand it. Even if you love her plan, why wouldn't you be upset about this kind of treatment?

It' boggles my mind, but I guess it goes back to that "ALL or NOTHING" mentality.

Either Kimmer is Perfect or she is the Devil.

How about something in between and Human. Thus the reason why she must be held accountable.

Is it that difficult?

"Hello to everyone. I am a Kimkins refugee, having been banned earlier today for a post I made on the Kimkins site. Refund denied. I have been reading about this whole Kimkins controversy on various low carb sites and it's really been depressing. I wanted to try and make peace at the Kimkins site when a thread was started today complaining about other low carb sites. Of course, it quickly turned into a thread bashing other sites that seemed to be bashing Kimkins.

I know I'm just brand new here, but I wanted to share what I posted and get honest opinions on whether or not I stepped over the line and deserved to be banned based on this one post. Does it seem "ban-worthy" to you guys? I honestly tried to word it in such a way as to not be offensive (I'm sure it was removed minutes after I posted it.)

This particular thread doesn't seem a whole lot nicer than anything I've read at other sites. The bickering goes both ways evidently. . Makes me sad.

What I don't understand is, the whole thing could be resolved so easily if only Kimmer was able to advantage of Jimmy Moore's more-than-generous offer to fly all the way to California to interview her privately in her own home for his podcast. His site is such a popular place and gets all kinds of web traffic. It would be a huge win-win situation for both he and Kimkins.

There are many, many Kimmer fans who would LOVE to see such an interview that would finally, finally put the doubts to rest and make the doubters shut up or at least change the subject. Such a simple request and all on Jimmy Moore's dime.

If I looked like the gorgeous lady in that sexy red dress, I'd do it in a heart-beat! Especially if my reputation in the entire low-carb community was in question. What better way to advertise the amazing results of Kimkins than having the lovely Kimmer front and center? She is, after all, the ultimate success story. Kimkins wouldn't even exist without her!

Just my humble two cents.

By the way, has anyone seen Ixtapacheryl lately? I noticed her Success Story pictures are missing??.

For those who don't know, at Low Carb Friends, the Kimkins criticizing is contained to one single thread among thousands that are there. There is an entire FORUM of Kimkins SUPPORT there as well, including Kimmer's original extensive "Ask Kimmer" thread. People are losing weight on Kimkins at LCF too. No need to bash the entire site for the postings of one thread.

I honestly thought level-headed, reasonable adults could accept such a post and share an intelligent discussion of the issue. Almost immediately my access to the site was shut down with a huge banner that came up, saying I was banned for "starting up LCF stuff" when all I did was post a comment in a thread someone else started about "LCF stuff."

I'm a very shy and sensitive person and so I took this all very personally and was (and still am) very hurt by it. However, the more I think about it, the angrier I am, because, damn it, I paid $60 to join that site and there's not a thing I can do about it now.

And for what it's worth, Kimmer was NOT banned at LCF.
"
Sounds like a reasonable post to me. Not a bannable offense at all.

Except, that you're pointing out that the emperor has no clothes.

Probably pizzes the emperor off...hence, you are banned.

Sorry about that.

BTW, does anyone wonder about the banning with no refund?

Isn't what you are paying for is lifetime access to her site? If you are banned, isn't that a violation of contract? Sell access to support, take your money, then conveniently ban you and keep your admission price? Yet another scam.

Seems like it'd be smarter to revoke posting privileges but allow people to continue to access the site.

But it's clear that she's not acting on any planned out strategy...there's lots of running around putting out fires going on.

I have been on various lc forums for years and have seen my share of controversies and been involved in a few myself, but I have always been able to e-mail the moderators and get things straightened out. The Kimkins website should give people the same opportunity. Most moderators are quite reasonable within certain limitations.

I am stepping back out of lurkdom to pose yet another question:

In the WW "interview," hasn't WW admitted that the photos used were sent in by Kimmer? But didn't she tell her "followers" that WW's photographer made her pose in awkward positions and that she was very uncomfortable at the end of the day? Was the photographer credited on the photograph? Does anyone have an actual paper copy of the article they can check?

If Kimmer sent in the pics, shouldn't the original photographer who took the pics get credited? Those weren't "snapped at home" pics. I mean, if my professional shots were published in a national magazine, I'd want the credit for it. Where are the photographers and models whose images are being used without permission?

If I'm confusing two different things, please someone correct me. I've read thousands of posts and I may be mixing up some information.

Essentially, you eat all the lean protein (think chicken breast) with just the teensiest bit of condiments and just enough fat to cook it in for 3-5 days to get into deep ketosis. It's what I'm doing right now.

Back in 1999, when I first started lowcarbing, we called it a meat fast.

I'm sure, in the fine print, there's a TOS loophole that allows the Kimkins people to pretty much ban you for whatever they like. Paid site or free, as soon as you click "I agree" you're subject to the rules of whatever site you're joining. Most of them reserve the right to suspend members, and very few that I know of will refund your fee if you've violated their TOS agreement.

How is theirs spelled out?

I've got it right here. In fine print at the bottom of page 19 it says:

Other photos (the ones they didn't take of kimmer) Gene Bednarck: Tetra Images/Juipiter Images: Courtesy of Kim Drake; Courtesy of Kimkins; Michael Tracy/HBB 4 Food Stylist Ellie Ritt.

So the pics we are talking about should be the:
Gene Bednarck: Tetra Images/Juipiter Images: Courtesy of Kim Drake.

HTH

ETA: the other pics were pics of the food

I think someone said somewhere that the article credits the photos as being 'courtesy of kimkins' or something like that. That they were sent in. Maybe she would say that she went to a photographer to have them done?

There a many different types of agreements that models and photographers can have. Some have TFP (time for pictures...)... But USUALLY they can do whatever they want w/ the pictures, as in the model has rights, BUT they have to credit them.

all good questions. The images very well could be purchased "stock" images - she probably has the rights to them. They just aren't her!

There are companies that sell stock photos for other companies that don't have the resources to hold thier own photo-shoots. Like say I wanted to print my own catalog of socks that I sell. I would buy stock photos of socks and people wearing them. Then I wouldn't have to hire photographers, models, a studio, etc.

This question literally kept me up last night. I should have gotten on here and posted it and gotten it out of my brain.

Even if the subject of the photograph purchases the rights to the photograph, the talent and negatives are still the property of the photographer. Again, if I was a photographer and my photographs were being published in a national magazine, I'd wanted credited with the photo so that could be added to my portfolio.
