Well, this was a very rough experience. I imagine you are feeling pretty raw right now. Even though it sucks, there ARE people learning from your mistakes. Hopefully people are learning from mine too. But I see nothing wrong with a public fitday being examined. I am sure there are some militant vegetarians that would have a complete field day with mine. But they have their beliefs and I have mine.

I do have to add that I have a pretty "thick skin" when it comes to this kind of stuff. I started my online experience as a moderator in a political chatroom many moons ago. Plus I am 44. As I get older, I care a lot less about critics. I find myself saying "bite me!" a lot from some reason...LOL

What? Kimmer has an "exit strategy"..
You betcha, Carolyn. We discussed this back - oh, maybe 6 pages ago - that Kimmer was all set to cut the KK'ers loose, and that such actions definitely bespeak preplanning. It bodes ill for the ones gathering their wagons in a protective circle with Kimmer at the middle as the heart of the whole site.

I just have gotten caught up and see there are a few people here who have been doing Kimkins and are new to LCF.

To each of you... I'm glad you're here!

There is so much support here, and the challenge boards are excellent!

Sounds to me like someone's fixin' to take the money and run. She's truly revolting.

I wish I knew how close any investigators are to having a case ready to prosecute.

Maybe the "exit strategy" will happen on the Kimkins cruise, when Kimmer sails into the sunset to a land far away..I'm not thinking the cruise is going to happen..Kimmer didn't want to go anyway and have people staring at her in a bathing suit, I guess..

Hi guys- a few days I posted my skepticism about the petition, and if they can/do monitor repeat postings. Just wanted to let you know that I had a confirmation in my gmail mail, confirming my email address. Apparently they DO monitor who has already posted a signature. Im glad that I decided to go ahead and participate, and I advise anyone else who hasn't to go ahead.

The cruise will go, with or without the kimkins......the real issue is really how many of them there will be, the cruise ship is leaving with or without them

I signed it way back, but still didn't receive a confirmation unless it went in my junk folder and I didn't know what it was..Hmmm..

On the cruise, I'm sure there are some people that just have reserved rooms on a certain ship..Hopefully, some of the banned gals can get their money back if they don't want to go..Boy, the cruise ship will make lots of money if these gals only eat 500 calories a day..

Everyone will be sneaking down to the midnight buffet to get their money's worth!!

From what I read (and I did not see this confirmed anywhere by Amy herself), there was some "discussion" between Kimmer and Amy, a KK administrator, as to who really *owned* her recipes and recipe videos. That is all I have heard about the situation.

Amy's (curlygirl) is a GREAT girl. Always one of my very favorites at KK. I hope her blog and website are successful for her. And her before and afters are REAL!

ETA: I don't know if Amy left KK for good. I was asking about that, but got banned before I got an answer! LOL

Dear Low Carb Friends,

I am a refugee from the good ship Kintanic. First let me say that I am grateful to this site and to all the blogs for what they have brought to light.

Like so many others, I became a KK Klanswoman after reading the article in Woman’s World magazine. They have a new diet every week but somehow this one appealed to me in a way others had not. The other diets seemed like “fads,” but KK looked as though it was both healthy and effective.

That being said, even from the first there were some yellow flags of uncertainty and doubt. It seemed weird that there were “natural” looking photos of the successful followers of the diet, but that the “after” photo of its founder looked airbrushed and fake. But I did not give it more than a moment’s thought.

I logged on and tried to make my way through figuring out how to do the eating plan. I was almost 300 pounds and wanted the kind of results that were being touted. I made a few posts with questions and usually was referred to the “sticky” threads for FAQs.

It looked like some of the successful members kept their daily menu in fitday. When I first started looking at those entries I was SHOCKED. Many of them were eating around 300 calories a day. On some days they ate only 150. I thought, “I will never be able to do this. I don’t know how anyone can.” I did not really think about the unhealthfulness of such a low calorie diet.

But armed with the expectation that ketosis would decrease my appetite, I plunged into the KK WOE. To my surprise, after a week or so, my appetite WAS gone. I did feel the SNATTY thing and almost had to force myself to eat. I was never able to go as low as 300 calories, but I was keeping to between 450-650.

And the weight started dropping off. I was so jazzed. After a month I did start to notice that my hair was thinning, but I did not care. Every single day when I jumped on that scale, I had a loss. It became an obsession to run for the scale first thing every morning to see how many pounds had magically disappeared overnight.

Then I heard about Jimmy Moore’s refutation of the KK diet. I thought, oh, he’s just bowing to the pressure of his sponsors who do not want him to favor any one low carb diet, and who want to sell their products. Kimkins does not advocate using anything but fresh, natural foods, so that must be their beef.

Next the admins started leaving. One after the other. I thought, well, that’s fine for them, they lost THEIR weight, now they are coming out and saying the plan is bad? What’s up with that? I want the results THEY got. And I was getting them. The pounds kept dropping off, a little more slowly than at first, but still a loss, even if only two-tenths of a pound, every single day. And I still felt SNATTY, headaches and nausea, but I took a few advil every day and plunged ahead.

I was lucky not to have bowel problems, I was using the KK plan with salad greens and vegetables. The advice on laxatives, thankfully, was not something that applied to me personally. Though it was pretty scary to read about taking laxatives, even a partial dose, on a DAILY basis.

Since the Jimmy Moore thing, and the admin blogs, I did start paying attention to some of what was being talked about. I started to get a little concerned about the number of calories I was eating and worried that I would not be able to sustain the weight loss in the end. So I started upping my calories, but not my carbs.

And I stopped losing. After upping them only about 100 calories a day. And then I started gaining. Not a lot, just a couple of pounds. But they won’t go away. Right about the time I hit my stall/mini-gain was when the Dr. Jekyll and Ms. Heidi photos came out. I was stunned. And unbearably depressed. I wanted to binge more than anything.

What was the point? It all was a lie. When something sounds to good to be true, it usually is. The defenses of KK and its founder get more outlandish every day. But have MERCY on those who still believe. If they are losing, they are blinded by that. I know I was. And with posts getting deleted right and left, there are probably MANY who truly do not know what is going on. Everyone comes to their moment of truth on their own. You can’t force it.

Right now I am in no woman’s land. I had tried Atkins a few years ago and stopped losing after 30 pounds. On KK I had lost 50. I honestly don’t know where to go from here.

One of my biggest concerns is that there are probably many, many people who left KK in disillusionment and went back to their old way of eating. I don’t know how we could reach them. To be honest, sometimes the posts on this board seem unnecessarily unkind to those who were innocently hoodwinked. There is sometimes a very strong “I TOLD YOU SO” kind of attitude which I think is not helpful.

No one should feel as though they are having to come with their hat in their hand to LCF for help and support. They are already humiliated and betrayed. Many of them, including me, did not even know LCF existed before all the controversy. So it was not like we initially made a choice of KK over LCF. In short, we were duped.

So, where do I go from here? I am gaining on 700 calories a day though keeping carbs under 20. I have tried going as high as 1200-1400 calories and carbs under 20. Still gaining.

Please, somebody help me.

P.S. As far as getting away with it, remember Leona Helmsly. "Only the little people pay taxes."
Hi, and welcome! I had basically the same problem, as well as just mentally not being able to ALLOW myself to add in more fat/cals. So here's what I did. I took a complete break for about two weeks. I didn't restrict anything that went into my mouth. At all. I did gain about five pounds, but then when I decided to go back into "diet mode", I went on Atkins induction, and since then have been absolutely not keeping track of calories at all (I may need to eventually, but for now...), but I have made sure to keep carbs low. Shootin for 20, but sometimes, 30 or 40. I try to just make sure that I am, a) eating and b) keeping it balanced with "real" foods like veggies, meat, BUTTER, etc. I lost the five I'd gained within a week, and have been losing steadily since (It's been around two months now, I think)

For me, it was equally important to give my brain a break (it's rough on a brain to be washed!) and stop being so mean to myself. I called it a "reset". Now I'm trying to learn to live in harmony with my body, instead of attacking it, which is what I feel like I was doing with a vlcd.

Hope this helps, and much luck on your journey!

Hippiegirl

You mean Kimmer thought she owned Amy's recipes???? Holy smokes!!! That little Amy is cooking her fingers to the bone and Kimmer wants a cut of the recipes?..Good grief.. Hopefully, Amy paid for everything herself and did her own video, so she can enjoy the benefits of her labor!!
