Is "Kimmer" also "Kimmer K" on Yahoo Answers? I'm going to go with, YES! And 1268 answers there to date, but too busy to field questions on her own site?

She uses her movie actress avitar, posts answers to diet questions, and typically ends with the URL for kimkins.

Some examples - starting with my fave:

latinatexas asks: I have lost 35 lbs in 2 months I walk 5 miles a days and eat under 1000 calories is this safe? I started fasting on Dec3,2006 and I plan to do a ten day fast. How much weight do you thing I will lose with this fast.

Kimmer K: If you only lost 35 lb in 2 months at 1000 calories, then it wasn't 1000 calories.

cnacyn asks: How do I lose weight with hypothyroidism? I have prescribed some thyroid medication and have been taking them everyday. I try to eat a well portioned, well balanced diet. I am active at work. I work for a total of 8 hrs straight walking back and forth, lifting, pushing and pulling residences. So what is it that I maybe doing wrong

Kimmer K: People with perfect thyroid function are also overweight. You're eating more calories than you need.

Cut back, skip junk and snacks, drop soda.

Natural Appetite Supression

ienaj1 asks: Is rice a type of starch?

Kimmer k: You bet!

So are potatoes, pasta, polenta, bread, tortillas, waffles, risotto, pancakes, corn and beans.

These are items we avoid during the quick weight loss phase of Kimkins. Your body processes carbs (starch) before anything else.

Cheryl what did the docs say was the cause of your gallbladder attack? if its not from being fat free then????

I am just trying to understand all this but perhaps there are a multitude of factors for making the gallbladder go haywire?

Cheryl if you ever find out what the other f's are ya gotta pm me!!!!

Okay, in between bouts of expressing surprise that I still have a gall bladder, I wrote to Dr. Phil. I hope he takes this ball and runs with it - he actually has a dog in this fight because of his books on safe and healthy weight loss.

I had the same thing happen, minus thinking I had swung a club wrong, LOL. I had no idea why I was having pain there, either, until the doc asked me if I'd had that kind of pain. I sure had.

I had the Laparoscopic surgery as well. It was a longer recovery for me than most. I'm not sure why. I'm just glad I never have to go through any of that again! If I had known then what I know now about low fat, low cal diets I don't think I'd have eaten the way I had.

So there is some truth about the pain the shoulder blade..... I thought he was smoking something. How long did you have that pain.

I'm sorry to hear you had a long recovery. I was in one day and out the next. No recovery to speak of..... I felt great! Did you have the "dumping syndrome" after having your gallbladder out? If I had anything fatty to eat it would go right through me with cramping, faintness, etc.

I had had the shoulder blade pain for several months off and on. I had no idea what it was, and I couldn't really tell if it was muscular or a pinched nerve, but it ended up being from the gallbladder stuff. I also had a stone stuck in a biliary duct which resulted in pancreatitis. That was also quite painful.

Yes, I had the "dumping syndrome" minus the faintness for maybe a couple of years. I usually have no problems now unless I eat green peppers. I really pay for it if I do.

What I also found interesting, too, was subsequent to having my gallbladder removed I attended nursing school and learned that one of the bile ducts ends up expanding after gallbladder removal and kind of substituting for the gallbladder in that it stores bile. I think that dumping period probably happens before that duct takes over and does its thing.

I have no problems eating my fair share of fat, I know that, and I've not had a problem doing LC because of having my gallbladder out.

Oh, and it's been about 6 years ago I had it yanked. The eating plan I was doing consisted of lean meats and vegetables, and very little carbs, very little fat (using Pam, and all the low fat products). I'd say it was not unusual for me to average 700 - 800 calories a day. I had lost all the weight I'd wanted to, and very quickly, when I'd had the gallbladder attack. The ultrasound tech remarked about how easy it was to do the scan since I was so thin. And I was thin - so much so that I look at photos from then and wonder WTH I was thinking. It didn't take long after it was removed to put weight back on, and here I am! I am very pleased that I am able to eat well and lose weight LC'ing. It's been a blessing.

I have read her posts saying that she never exercised and that she fasted and still does, I believe. I have, however, never read a post where she "advocated" what the above poster said.

She hates exercise & admits it, she says you can lose without exercise. She has also said that exercise is great and good for you, she just chooses not too. She fasts. Whatever. The laxative comment...I just don't know. I have seen TONS of LC posts on different forums where people recommend MOM or flax seed or coconut oil etc to get things moving. Getting stopped up every now and again is just part of living LC. But please, where has she ever posted "advocating using laxatives?" ( other than the occasional use)

I get it. A lot of people here have a beef with her. Whatever. Your prerogative. No one has to buy into everything they read or hear. You SHOULD form your own opinions and think for yourself. But the above quote makes it sounds like her plan is written as:

1-don't exercise
2-fast for a few days every month
3-use laxatives daily
4-follow 1 through 3 and you will lose--don't and you are doomed!

Read through the thread called "Ask Kimmer". At least by reading that, you'll know for certain they are her words and no one elses. Look at her website which says in big letters right on the front page that exercise is NOT necessary. Then, read the rest of this thread and you'll understand why people have a "beef" with her and what the dangers really are.

Laurie,
There are many, many Kimmer quotes in this thread in which she advocates the use of laxatives. Please take the time to read the thread. Whatever plan you follow, try to remember that this is not a thread about,"Them vs. us." It is way more than that. Happy Reading, it takes awhile. But the mods did an incredible job of keeping it on track.

I have read Ask Kimmer. I am not new here. I don't necessarially care to understand why people have a beef with her, nor am I out to change any one's mind. I was just asking to be directed to a place where she specifically advocated any of those things.

ADVOCATE: to speak or write in favor of; support or urge by argument; recommend publicly.

Yes, she may have recommended laxatives to treat constipation, but was she recommending it in the way that the poster implied---as in part of her plan to lose weight?

Well I hate to burst those bubbles regarding Kimmer never dissuading exercise, but hey.

I'm the burster.

For the consideration of all, please note the email I received from Kimkins just this month...

Quote:
Hey there!

Did you know exercise doesn't work? Nope. I know you're shocked! It's the most common fallacy in the diet business -- work out and lose weight. Are they serious?

Check any exercise calculator. A 200 pound woman who walks 2 miles a day will only burn 175 calories! This means it will take 3 weeks of daily walking to lose only 1 pound!!! Just 1! Walking 2 miles every day!

Here's the math: 175 calories x 20 days = 3500 calories (1 pound)

This is why the Kimkins Diet is a weight loss Super Star! Kimkins is thermogenic. You burn more calories than regular "slow" diets -- and it works without exercise! It's true! Kimkins members typically lose 5% of their total body weight in the first 10 days! Wow!

It's your choice: Depend on exercise to lose 1-2 pounds in 30 days or pick thermogenic Kimkins and lose 10% of your total body weight in 30 days! Hmmm, I know what sounds better to me!

More gemoliciousness from our fairy godmother, Kimmer...

Quote:
Why do I like the Kimkins Diet?

Because you lose your appetite! Naturally. No pills, potions, fiber pills or other mumbo jumbo. It's like magic! A gift from your fairy godmother. Honest!

Due to the natural effect of ketosis, you'll wake up in 3-5 days after starting Kimkins and just not feel hungry! Works like diet pills, only safe.
Because we all know you never lose your apetite naturally when following Atkins.

Works like diet pills... only safe!

sorry.... can't.... stop...

Isn't that something, Morgan?

One might think affiliates of Kimkins, of all people in this big old wacky wide world, would know that if it's exercise, it's just not Kimkins.

After all, we know exercise just doesn't work.

And unlike diet pills, Kimkins is safer-er-er..er-er.
