don't forget all the times Kimmer actually said that if she could go back and lose the weight all over again, she wouldn't do Kimkins, she'd water fast it all off "because it would be quicker".

Holy crap.

Seriously...if she is for real, then I really think she has an eating disorder.

Apparently 800 calories is the TOP of the range. But from what I got out of what I read, the less the better.

It does not seem healthy or sustainable to me. Plus, I think it would screw up your metabolism. Although she felt that "starvation mode" was a myth.

Way back in the day when I was just a mere noob with under 60 posts I hung in the ML. This was right around the time "water fasting" was all the rage. If you were not water fasting or on ME you basically weren't doing it right. I tried both ME and water fasting. I made it 7 days on water only with no food before my DBF threatened to take me to the hospital for not eating. He was pissed when he found out what I was doing and called "promotional anorexia". Anybody with a 5th grade education can tell you water fasting for that length of time is dangerous to the body. You surpass the point of fat flushing and your muscles start to feed on themselves.

I also found it HIGHLY questionable that anyone who lost weight on such an extreme diet and did not muscle building exercise would have any muscle tone. Where are the nutrients????????? Your brain, the big kahuna in your body, needs protein to function.

I have no feelings toward or against this person. I think she did what worked for her and made a buck off desperate people looking for a magic bullet. As for the pictures, IMO it's really misleading and gives people the wrong impression of the results one can achieve on Atkins.

Oh, I also read in the Kimmer threads about people eating very few calories and then getting light headed and feeling sick when they tried to work out. Ummm....DUH!!! And no one came into the threads to say, HEY, maybe you should be eating a little more.

I wondered a few times at the pictures on her website, also.

With all the recent exposure, I also thought that maybe she's in over her head now that this has gotten so big. Maybe she can't make all the decisions. Which partner is she, the one that is still there or the one that left? How do we know for sure? Maybe someone has taken over the site and is posing as Kimmer.

When I first saw her website, I thought it was great for her - an American success story. Then I looked at some of the pics and had questions about some of them, not all of them because I recognized some of the people from this board in the past and strangely their befores and afters really looked similar, not like totally different people. But there are some on there that raise some "red flags".

I went to her site to look at before and after pictures, to get inspired. Not to follow that plan, just to see people losing weight.

I notice a lot of the success stories dont have before pictures. Only afters.
Which doesnt make any sense to me, they could have been skinny before, what is the point of that?

(this has nothing to do with her personally, just the diet itself)

See, that was me too. I wouldn't follow her plan (too extreme in my opinion), but I thought "Good For her". It's when things started not "Adding up" and all these "Red Flags" were there and when you asked the legitimate questions and were met with "rage" for daring to ask them, told to be quiet and "Be nice", that even more "Red Flags" showed up for me.

Also, like you...I thought maybe she got too big too fast and things went out of control for her (That could have happened) Little white lies turn into bigger ones to hide something that was really tiny in the beginning and then gets huge.

I don't know. I just can't sit here and pretend that the Emperor has clothes on, no matter how many people Yell at me and tell me that he does.

Looking over it, It seems Ok taken as posted, not including the waterfasts because I didn't see anything about it in the Kimkins "for beginners" thread in the Eating Pland area of this board, But I need a bit more fat than she reccomends, so I didn't choose to do it, Though some days are lower fat than others.
I thought the before and afters that were in her Avi here looked like the same person, But I can't say for sure. And I have not posted many pics of myself. My Avi is one of about 3. And I don't look the same in a lot of pics.

That is twisted. Why the heck would anyone promote being nauseated as a healthy side effect to eating.

Ok, I totally understand where the questions are coming from, and up until I saw the animal print picture, I was still pretty convinced it was the same woman.... Oh well.

Anyway, my problem is that I don't lose on Atkins, as I've got major cheese, fat and portion control issues. With Kimkins, it kind of eliminates that, so it works for me. I would personally NEVER eat less than 1000 calories per day, but hey, to each their own. I don't know if she lost all that weight in that amount of time or whether she lost weight at all. All I know is that it works for me.

But these threads are fascinating and I'm an avid reader of them... Can't wait till the mystery is solved! (Good or bad, it will be entertaining, I'm sure!)

I can't support her because what she promotes (and in fact was telling others how wrong we were with OUR way of eating) is very unhealthy and does promote eating disorders. does that mean everyone that follows kimkins has or will have an eating disorder? no, but I do believe it is a high risk plan for going into one. shoot I know through my journey how easy it would be for me to slip into one. I've taken steps to NOT let that happen.

I can't support and will stand up against a plan that is encouraging others to live in an unhealthy way. and yeah, I've been ganged up against in the past for it, too. sorry, but eating low calories for an extended period of time is not healthy, and is in fact dangerous.

I don't care if she is who she is (although, I don't respect someone who is not honest) BUT I do care if they are pushing others to do something that can harm them and will cause major damage to many people who jump on it. I feel strongly about this (can you tell? lol) people's health is important. people come here for many reasons many times out of desperation to find a plan that will allow them to lose weight and BE healthy. to promote something that is not healthy and discourage those and berate others for eating in a healthy way is not ok. that is exactly what happened around here.

She didnt create the diet though you can buy the Atkins 72 book for a couple of bucks

Her quote:

The fastest weight loss will be at the lowest calories and lowest carbs so:

FASTEST: Water fasting
FASTER: Kimmer's 3 Day Experiment (long term) or
Stillman's (original, not BB version w/ desserts)
FAST: Kimkins or 1972/1992 Atkins
OK, NOT GREAT: Atkins 1996-2005
