Constant Hunger
I am on day 8 of K/E with one day Kimkins and I've found out that I'm always hungry. I strickly did K/E for 5 days and lost 4 lbs. On day 5 I added a cup of romaine lettuce along with a slice of fat free cheese and gained 1.2 lbs and have stalled. When I first started this WOE I wasn't hungry all the time like I am now. I eat enough to fill me up but then 2 1/2 hours later I'm starving. Anyone else get like this? My last meal was a grilled chicken breast with mustard and 20 oz of water. I'm about raid my refrigerator. :

The only experience I have had about this is that when I eat more fat, I don't feel as hungry. Maybe try eating a little more fat, like a bit of mayo w/ the meat or something, and see if that helps. Hang in there!

I started a day after you did. I also noticed that I was starting to get hungry all the time, but then TOM started and kind of explained why I was hungry.
Hope you figure out what is stalling you. Hugs! |

The cheese may be what stalled you (cheese always stalls me no matter what diet I am on because I'm lactose intolerant. You may have a slight dairy allergy which would explain the stall). Are you eating any eggs? How many calories are you getting a day? I usually eat 2 chicken breasts as a meal when I have it. One 4 oz chicken breast is only 100 cals so you may need to eat a little more. Maybe post your fit day and we all can see your cals and help out

There are a few things that could be affecting it, after being on K/E did you get constipated at all, you could be bound up. Are you drinking enough water? Is it close to that time of month when you could possibly be retaining water? How high are your calories/protein/fat?

I am doing my 2nd day of K/e and I am STARVING!!
I ate kind of a lot today 3 hard boiled eggs 1 can tuna about 2 tbsp yellow mustard 4oz chicken breast (Tyson fajita ready-made ) Coffee with a tiny bit of sugar free creamer and Flavored Splenda Some lemonade sweetened with Stevia 2 cans diet Dr. Pepper 1 cup sugar free jello (made at home) Oh, I forgot to add: Some baked ham, about 3oz. Is that okay for K/E?? I bought Ketostix and I have a "trace" reading. I am kinda going crazy on K/E. Do I need to stay on K/E until I hit Ketosis?? I don't want to quit, but grocery shopping this afternoon was SOO TEMPTING!! I need to stay out of there!!

Somedays I am starving and others not. I guess I just eat when I am hungry and don't when I'm not. Maybe it balances out?
Usually when I'm hungry not around a meal time I try to tough it out and drink a cup of water. I do snack some though, on a peice of meat or a cucumber slice or two. What's a girl to do?? |

Being fairly experienced at K/E (this is my third time, hopefully the last!)
I've got a few tips (feel free to ignore these, LOL!) - have a glass of water when you feel like eating, and wait 15 minutes; if you're still hungry, have some lean protein like a hardboiled egg, or some grilled chicken fillet - chew your food. It sounds funny, but really chew each mouthfull of food, and put your fork down after every bite. Savour the flavour! - breathe slowly whilst eating slowly. - don't drink too much whilst you're eating. - exercise. 30 minutes of cardio or 60 minutes of weight bearing exercise daily will curb your hunger. - if you can, stay away from caffinated drinks such as coffee, tea, or diet sodas. They all contain lots of caffeine and could make you feel more hungry. - if you can, don't consume anything with artificial sweeteners. It could be that your cravings are triggered by the sweet flavour, and thus make you feel hungry. - When you're cold you can end up feeling hungrier than you really are; put more clothes on if you feel cold, you will see that you'll feel less hungry! - finally: seriously, when you're hungry: EAT!!! You don't need to starve yourself, you know! Even with Kimkins or K/E you should be able to eat enough to feel satisfied... (just don't eat so much that you feel stuffed, that's NEVER a good thing! LOL!) Anyway, this is what I try to follow, although I allow myself 2 cups of green tea a day, any more caffeine containing drinks, and I end up eating all day! Good luck, I hope you don't feel so hungry very soon! |

It took me almost 6 days on KE for my appitite to decrease. I didnt' get that snatty feeling until then. Maybe cut out the cheese and stay strictly on KE for a few more days eating all the lean protein you want. When you are hungry eat! I still get hungry but not as hungry and I get full much faster and therefore am eating less. Sometimes I think I am hungry but really am just craving something bad for me. Since it took me longer to get into ketosis I wonder if it might take some people longer then the 5 days?

Hi everyone,
Thanks for all the responses. I'm feeling much better today. I jumped on the scale this morning and I'm down a pound. Ok yesterday I didn't have any cheese. I noticed that I haven't been drinking a lot of water so I made sure I drank a bunch of water. I think that had a lot to do with the stall. This is what I eat during the day. Breakfast is usually either 1 or 2 boiled eggs, sometimes 2 eggs cooked in a pan with a little pam spray in it and 2 or 3 slices of turkey bacon. Most of the time I prefer boiled eggs. Lunch is usually some type of lean meat. I eat a lot of chicken breasts (grilled), sirloin steak, sometimes white tuna, lean ground beef, and shrimp. Last night I had a some steak (sirloin) with a cup of romaine lettuce and 10 sprays of Italian dressing. Oh, and regarding exercise, I do cardio 5 days a week and lift 3-4 days a week. I either run, or do Turbo Jam. I bought P90X and and thinking about doing that soon. Last edited by Mfit4Me : 06-27-2007 at 06:04 PM. |
