New to this website, hi all!

I'm happy to have found this site. I was up til 3:15 a.m. reading it this morning. Good thing today wasn't a work day! -I had almost gone ahead with gastric bypass surgery as a last resort when I decided to give low carb a go and was thrilled to find out about Kimkins because I always had issues with the high fat Atkins plan. For me anyway, I just could not get past the high saturated fat thing being good for my body. Kimkins is more in line with the way I love to eat. The most amazing part for me was that I am not hungry. as in NOT. What a shock. Everytime I did any other "diet" I was always hungry. The more carbs I had the hungrier I got. Even WW with all their promoting sugar-free goodies like their one point cakes, etc., it just sent me into a tailspin. I could never stick to them. I was absolutely consumed with hunger. This WOE is so wonderful! I'm down 27 lbs. in just over a month. If anyone had told me I could leave sugar behind, and leave bread behind and all of that, I never would have believed it. This is awesome.

I have a question - how do you know the carb count for fiber, like flaxseed or psyllium? What do others use - any suggestions?

Thanks. You seem like a bunch of really supportive, fun, and great people.

Welcome Raynbow. I hope you find what you need here.

I am not doing low carb anymore, but I still come here to read, learn, and be entertained. I am doing weight watchers now.

There are many people on here that are very knowledgeable and I am sure will offer great advice.

Good luck!!

Hello! I am not sure about all forms of fiber but I take the wal-mart brand of psyllium husk fiber caps and they are 3 carbs each but I subtract the fiber which is 3 carbs so it equals 0. Hope this helps. Congratulations on your outstanding weight loss-KUTGW!

The store at www.t-tapp.com has an amazing fiber supplement called Fibertox. Works incredibly well and is not addictive.

HTH!

Problem, can anyone help? I'm a newbie too!

Hi,

I have yet to purchase Kimkins (but need to - I have an underactive thyroid) however I am based in Australia. Is there anyone out there that knows if the foods can be replaced by another, for example:

There was a mention of Diet Dr. Pepper drinks on the Kimkins website - we dont have that out here - is there a replacement?

Also, I am allergic to Splenda, do most of the foods have Splenda in it?

Are there any Aussies out there that are doing this diet?

Kind regards and thank you,
Taloola

Thanks for all your "welcome"s! And a big welcome to Tatoola too. I hope you find lots of good info here. I just might be addicted to this website! I had to have half of my thyroid removed and Kimkins works for me, and many others too. I love diet Dr. Pepper, but you can use any diet soft drinks as far as I can tell. Not everything is sweetened with Splenda. You have to read all the packaging on everything. I don't know about Australia but here lots of manufacturers still use aspartame if your body tolerates that better.
