No loss on K/E.......I dont understand....

Hello everyone. Im more of a lurker, but in this case Im gonna be a poster. I started K/E last Monday weighing 363. I decided to do a week of it as I know I was very carbed up. I ate only lean meats, chicken breast, egg whites. I had ketosis sticks and they were measuring large quatities of ketones..sticks very purple. Drank at least a gallon of water each day. I step on the scale this morning, and voila....no loss.....BOOOOOOOOOO I dont understand. I really like that I dont have an appetite anymore. But I cant understand why I would not have a loss. I would have been happy with at least 1 pound. Has this ever happened to anyone doing K/E. I wanted to switch off to Kimkins and start adding carbs, but Im unsure if I should. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

What was your calorie count like? Also, did you measure yourself to see if you have lost inches? Sometimes you can lose inches rather than pounds. I'm really bad about measuring myself but as you can see I'm not bad at giving advice . But if the scale isn't moving and my jeans are getting bigger than I figure I've lost inches rather than pounds. Do your clothes feel any less tight? If I were you I would stick to it, watch your calories (through fitday), measure so you can monitor your inches as well and don't give up right away - it will happen.

I do not lose on too few calories, that may be your problem, too.
Do you take any medications? Have you added anything new like protein shakes or s/f candy? Some oddball things can cause your body to say "nope- not gonna do it!".

BTW where about in the RGV are you? I was born and raised in Bayview/Los Fresnos Haven't been back in years!

I stuck to the plan to a "T" Maybe it was too few calories for me. I didnt log anything in fitday so Im really unsure about how many calories I did eat. I do recall tho, back a couple of years ago I went on WW. This first week I gained two pounds. My leader pulled me aside and told me to eat all extra points I had plus to add 5 more each day. Well adding food triggered a loss. So maybe at my weight I need to keep calories up there. My clothing does feel better and I can breathe with them on now lol I am going to stick to it no matter what. Heck if I can get to a size 20 without losing any "weight" Id probably be the first lol

As far as RGV, I live in Raymondville. Still here and havent left since birth lol

I would stick with it for another week and see what happens...so many things could be affecting you right now...for instance--are you close to TOM (time of the month)? Do you retain water when you eat certain foods? Are you eating a lot of bacon and ham or other salty meats? I retain water something AWFUL, especially near TOM....I don't even like to weigh myself at that time because I KNOW I'll either see a really small loss or a GAIN...BOO!

Keep with it....your body is a science experiment! Log your food into Fitday...sometimes we don't realize how many calories we consume in a day. Even though I'm doing Kimkins, I find it difficult to keep my calories under 1000 a day....but I'm losing....you might be eating more than you actually realize....

Hang in there! I've also been doing this since June 11th - only lost about 5.5 lbs! Stuck now for a few days. I feel good, very dark maroon stixs, appetite is very low and getting my water in.

Measure yourself, I did remeasure and it didn't really show any loss of inches except in my thighs but everything is fitting loose!

Hang in there - it will happen!!!

I could not lose much weight doing any kind of diet. I found out in November '06 that I am Insulin Resistant. It is something to do with your system not utilizing the insulin that is sent out by your pancreas every time you eat, and therefore, causing most everything you eat to turn to fat with the added desire for high carb foods like sweets and breads. My GYN discovered it through some tests--saliva test and glucose intolerance test. It is not diabetes because my blood sugar was always at about 92.

When you look up insulin resistance on the Internet, you will find it talked about with PCOS. I suppose mine was not called PCOS since I don't have any ovaries anymore. I now take a medication called Metformin and have finally started losing weight.

HTH,
Nancy

don't give up-hang in there and use fitday, see if tracking it gives you some clues. You can do this!
