Kimkins - To have or not to have

To have or not to have coffee...that is the question? LOL

Also, if the answer is yes, to have or not to have cream and/or splenda?

Thanks for any and all help.

I hope you're ALL having a great Thursday!

Coffee is fine but use as little half and half as possible. Splenda is OK.

I do drink coffee and I do drink a little 1/2 and 1/2. I measure it out with a teaspoon so I don't just do the free pour anymore.

I do have coffee, but only about 4-5 ounces with either half and half or a combination of almond milk with cream. I am noticing that I do lose slower on Kimkins than others because I have more fat than she recommends. Coffee can also stimulate hunger, so that's why I keep it at small amounts only.

Thank you guys SO MUCH for your help

I had some coffee/splenda/half&half today. It does seem to affect my hunger a bit. Maybe I'm just hungry as I haven't eaten breakfast yet. But I don't think so. Appetite suppression, from what I've been reading...should have already kicked in.

Thanks Again!

Yeah, Divinity, do be careful of the increased appetite. Not everyone has that effect I've heard, but if you do it can really sabbotage you much more than a little extra cream does.

Wow, I hope it will limit my appetite.

I'm feeling a little "SNATT"y so, I hope that means I'm entering into the land of ketosis...where fat loss is great and appetite is minimal...lol.

You guys are great support!

I am starting Kimkins bootcamp on Monday. Looking to lose the last of the last... Tried other plans recently with no results. Doing Atkins Induction now with no results, lol. I keep trying anyways. But, I KNOW Kimkins works! Been there and done that and hopefully can do it one more time around. Wish me luck!

Hello again,

Well, my husband lost 40 lbs on Atkins a few years ago and he drank cofee every morning with half and half with no problem. He also drank diet cokes all day much to my dismay and never stalled. I think men have an easier time when low carbing!

I used to be a coffee drinker too, but now I am a hot tea drinker. I ran out of coffee one morning and had hot tea instead, I have been hooked on tea ever since! I drink my tea with half and half. I think for most folks it makes no difference in the amount of weight lost if having coffee or tea each day. When I first started low carbing again last month I was still losing almost a pound a day while drinking my tea with half and half. My recent stall on Kimkins was definitely not because of the tea and half and half in my opinion. I always make sure I include the carbs from the half and half in my daily carb count. The brand of half and half I buy has only 1 carb for 2 tablespoons! I can't deny myself such pleasure for just 1 little carb! I get a headache if I don't have my morning brew! Worse yet, I could never stick with any diet if I didn't have it each day!

As for Splenda, I am not sure. I never sweetend my coffee or hot tea. My husband on the other hand always uses Equal in his.

Oh, I forgot to add. Coffee or Tea never increased my appetite either. It is the opposite for me as well. It helps diminish my appetite.

Mermaid,

How much fat is too much for you?

The best way to break a Kimkins stall is to go a week on Atkins induction and then start Kimkins again. You probably won't lose any weight that week but you should start losing when you return to Kimkins. Let's face it--Kimkins is hard and we need results to keep us motivated, right? Well, if you aren't losing anyways, may as well have a short maintenance break while the body is adjusting.

By going to an atkins induction would you just do more fatty meats with the veggies already being eaten for Kimkins , or would you add more veggies and dairy too??

Stay under 20 carbs. Fatty meats OK and cheese is too. But start reasonable. Work your way in. And ALL the Kimkins weight lost stays off! yay Sometimes I do day 1 with just meat and eggs and a little fat, like butter. Then day 2 I add a few veggies but not many. More day 3.
