K/E questions

Hello! I found Kimkins last week and have been researching it ever since. I started the K/E today and have a couple of questions. Are we watching fat and calories on this or mainly carbs? Any creative ideas on what to eat or how to prepare a certain food? Cheese isn't allowed, right?
Thanks so much in advance!! Oh, and how fast did anyone reading this lose weight on K/E?

Rules for Kimkins and K/E

Here's the guidelines for Kimkins:

*Up to 20 total carbs (not 'net')
*Up to 3 cups salad type veggies or
*Up to 2 cups salad veggies + .5 cup 'cooked'
*70-90 lean protein grams
*No LC products, treats, junk or alcohol
*Just enough fat to make your menu work (don't overdo)

hope this helps

Here's the guidelines for the Kimmer Experiment (not M/E):

*As much lean protein as you desire
*Length of time is 3-5 days depending on how 'carbed up' you are
*Purpose is to experience 'real' ketosis (weight loss, no appetite)
*Useful as a springboard for other LC programs
*No alcohol, no cheese
*Basic condiments and spices OK (watch catsup & A1 sauce)

Thanks for the reply...so it doesn't really discuss fat and calories, are we counting those or not? Can I stay on this for a while? I mean, longer than 5 days? I know that it's supposed to be okay, but has anyone else done it?

I watch the fat....not soo much the calories because the meat is all lean....but if you transition to kimkins you watch calories, fats and carbs...So far I like it...it works for me...so good luck! Join us on these boards

Kimmers has said that you don't have to watch the calories so much when you first start K/E, you HAVE to watch the carbs

If you notice it says LEAN protein and only enough oil to make the food work for you. She does recommend that the fat be kept low. For me I couldn't lose the weight unless I kept the cabs and fat very low and the calories fairly low.

I'd like to know too. I've been keeping my fat between 5-27 grams since I've started.

I know she says that K/E is only for 3-5 days. Has anyone stayed on it longer?

Hello, girls.
I also wonder what is the fat/carb/protein % on K/E? I tried to asks the same questions couple of times but they were just ignored

Ladies, can you please share or it is some kind of secret?

Bunnymuffin – I do from 25 to 50g of fat.

Siggie – there are people who stayed on K/E till the goal (around couple of months; though I’m not one of them)

Seriously!! There must be an actual number of fat and cals. I know carbs are low, but have no idea how much fat is okay. I wish someone would tell me...

I don't think people are ignoring your questions intentionally, but if you follow the program as it's written it works. You don't need to track fat grams, or really even calories if you're eating lean proteins with little to no cheese, cream, extra oils, butter, full fat dressings, etc. It's good to use a program like fitday to track things. Then you'll start to see a pattern of what works best for you. I've never tracked fat grams, or really worried too much about calories, but when I'm losing the fastest I've noticed that my calories are typically under 1,000. Btw, I didn't intentionally keep my cals under 1,000. I ate lean choices until I was full. There's no secret, it's just that most people don't know the answer because it's not necessary for the program to work... good luck girls!

Thanks Misscobi,

I haven't been "watching" fat grams, just aware of them. I use the nutrition tracker at Sparkpeople because I've been there a while so everything tracks out (I'm guessing much like fitday.) and I've just noticed that the more skin-less chicken breasts, the lower fat for the day. I'm perfectly comfortable keeping my fat this low now that I know I'm not going over.
