Ask Kimmer thread had an enormous amount of good information. In her article she does admit to her plan as a mixture of Atkins and Stillmans - she never claimed to have come up with the information herself - just tweaking it to fit her needs. I also believe she admits to not having any "medical education" - she has never claimed to have creditials (or atleast I have never seen it). I think the after pictures look the same - same features, the before picture is difficult to tell due to the sunglasses.

I think alot of before/after pictures look very different - and anyone could question the validity of many pictures posted. But what ever happened to trust? To my knowledge (which may be limited!!) "Kimmer" has always been honest about her weightloss struggles and her "tweaking" and "fasting" to get where she is. I think it is great she has found success and if she is making money off of her beliefs and her knowledge then more power to her - it is no different then anyone else that has modified a plan and promoted as their own -atleast she does admit where her information and basics come from.

I tried so many plans. Kimkins worked for me. She was very helpful anytime I had questions. I am very grateful because had I not lost as rapidly as I did, I am not sure I could have stuck with it.

Am 210 pounds, 5'7" and planning to follow Kimmer's for weightloss. I originally wanted to do Scarsdale which I did periodically a few years ago - and worked, but kinda slowly because I lost like 40 pounds in two years. But I didn't do strict Scarsdale. Anyway, I hope Id lose weight. Even losing 40 pounds would be great for me.

I just read this entire thread and I wanted to chime in that Kimmer isn't doing anything WRONG by charging a membership fee to her site. Why was it ok for people to get advice from her for free, but now that she charges for it, she's suddenly a ripoff artist? Everyone is free to either buy a membership and reap the rewards or NOT buy a membership. Isn't that what capitalism is all about? I still say, if you're against what she's doing, just don't buy a membership.

If you're concerned that she ripped off another plan, maybe you should look into "Somersizing" and all other low carb plans...except for a higher carb count and lower fat, they all look PRETTY similar to Atkins...If people felt that she was selling Atkin's packaged as something else, she'd have NO memberships to her site. From what I can see when I go there, this clearly ISN'T the case.

I'm not at all concerned that her photos don't match up exactly. Woman's World magazine is sort of weird on the best days--they tend to use pseudonyms anyway...that's not something unique to the "Kimmer" story. Her photos are different, but most of them are pretty similar...I never doubted her when I saw the avatar she posted here--the two photos were VERY similar (except for the weight loss). IF she's had surgery since then, GOD BLESS her...she wouldn't be the first and she certainly won't be the last!

I think everyone should be happy for Kimmer's success--considering that she was a welfare mom (as she's said in her bio) finding success the way she has is something to be applauded.

Thanks again Cleo I am just catching up here this morning. I am drinking herb tea today and doing a fruit detox, maybe I should not admit that but I am eating only melons today and drinking the tea to get rid of some water. I am mixing things up a bit I am doing the low fat thing this week then next week will start the low carb low fat thing. I have 2 months until I turn 50 and this is just not exceptable.

I also remember reading her post about plastic surgery for sure a tummy tuck so who knows. I also remember reading a lot on water fasting she is big on that for long periods of time but you know if it works for her then good for her. I wish there was a miracle cure as much as the next person but really all there is, is what we find to work for us. Atkins worked for me but maintence did not, I was a size 10 for almost 2 years now back up to a 14 due to menopause and an emotional year. I did start Atkins at a very tight size 22 so I am still not there but I am fighting it every day. Sorry did not mean to get so long winded.

There's three things to consider about excess skin ... age, sun damage and stretch marks.

Age: At 40+ there's going to be sagging 'somewhere' no matter what.

Sun Damage: Soccer moms and sun bunnnies might be surprised when they lose considerable weight. Their collagen is damaged (sagging) and the puffiness (body fat) that was keeping the skin taut, is gone.

Stretch Marks: Whether old or new, it's emergency skin our bodies make due to very rapid weight gain, whether extra fat, pregnancy or weight lifting (competitive type).

I had stretch marks on my bosom due to "early development" at 12 plus 2 pregnancies. Stretch marks on my tummy due to 2 pregnancies and more marks on my inner thighs due to "whatever". Those areas had serious sagging and when I reached goal my HMO paid for a mastoplexy (lift) and tummy tuck. My thighs are not in model condition, never will be (that skin isn't going away), but I'm perfectly OK with it. I prefer wearing dresses & skirts which work perfectly with my body.If sagging is a concern, consider the 3 factors above. If skin has enough elasticity (young, no stretch marks), it will come back. If not, then no.

After reading all of this I just had to post about my sister. During the year I was living in another state, I did not get to see my sister - we were very close. She had been overweight since she was a child and an apple shape. She lost 90 pounds during that year (very low-carb ala Kimkins)....and no one mentioned a word about it to me. When I got home, I went to visit her at her apartment. A beautiful, trim, fit, stylish young woman opened the door and I asked if my sister was home! I seriously did not know who she was and thought she must be her roommate! People's appearances can change so drastically it's shocking! I think it also depends on body shape - an apple shape will generally gain more in the facial area and show greater change - this is of course IMHO. I am a pear/combo shape and do not gain a great deal in my face so would not show as much of a change. I'm not sure if it was this thread or the other one that someone posted a link to, but they mentioned that women do not change the side they part their hair on......but I do!!! This was suggested to me years ago by a stylist and I change sides often - makes it so your hair is not constantly trained to lay down one way....it works well for me.

I have not personally done Kimkins (Atkins or Somersiziing works well for me)....but I've always loved reading all of her posts! And gotten some wonderful tips and advise in them....including great skincare ideas!

Edit: I do believe the pictures are of Kimmer. The one in the red dress is without bangs and from a different angle...totally looks like her to me. The blue eyes just look like someone airbrushed them in for whatever reason....although I have a brown eyed friend who sometimes wears blue or green contacts...they look nice on her.

Have a great day everyone!

I think the people that have said Kimmer's pictures look different (including me) are misunderstood.

YES, everyone looks different after losing over 100 lbs. That isnt the issue. It is the AFTER pics. They are at the SAME weight. There wouldnt be that much difference, where you dont even look like the same person. I was not saying her before pics looked like a different person than her after pics. That is obvious. The after pics (3 that i have seen)...not one of the 3 look like the other.

Just to be clear. People keep posting stories about befores and afters and not being recognized. That isnt it at all.

I'm sorry - everyone does look dramatically different after losing a lot of weight, BUT what doesn't ever change (unless you have surgery) is facial structure - not how big your face is - the distance between your eyes, your nose, etc.

You can always tell by the facial structure. Can't run, can't hide it - unless you have surgery.

I zoomed the pictures to 400% and they are all the same person - even the nose. The one in the red dress is so different because the face is caught at an angle with no bangs. The angle of a picture can really make a difference - celebrities often want to be photographed on their best side at certain angles in perfect lighting - makes a huge difference. The picture with the blue eyes - especially when zoomed - looks like a drawing or majorly air-brushed. I do think she looks like a 48 year old woman - she has great skin (many years of Retin-A does a lot) - although I'm sure they also air-brushed it some. I have always looked far younger than I am - and it seems Kimmer does also - it's not unusual at all and many people here at Low Carb Friends are great examples of people who do look younger than their age.

I just hate to see her being treated this way - it's very sad. Kimmer is awesome and I miss her.

Curiosity got the best of me so I paid (under a different user name) to see what all the commotion was about concerning her site. Well, IMHO, the site is BORING and redundant. I couldn't find one current post from Kimmer. Perhaps I didn't look hard enough. Someone named Littlebit (?) does all the answering. Same questions over and over. So NOT worth paying any amount of money. This site is in a different league entirely and it's free with a true wealth of information and interesting discussion. Keep your money. There is nothing there of any value IMO. No offense to anyone who likes it but honestly, there's more info. here regarding K/E and Kimkins plus the layout pales in comparison. BIG THUMBS DOWN!

I don't understand why people think Kimmer is being mistreated. Anyone who puts themselves out there as an authority who should be paid for their advice should expect scrutiny. Scientists, doctors, trainers, nutritionists - anyone who expects to be paid to help people lose weight should have to back up their advice with studies and facts.

People have a right to question the authenticity of her plan, her site, and everything else - she has billed her plan as an answer for people who struggle with weight loss, so people deserve to have all the facts if they're going to pay for it.

Agreed. I find it comical that folk think that is 'mistreatment'. LOL- no, it's asking questions. I'll be the first to say this:
1) Kimmer's weight loss is outstanding!
2) Kimmer's weight loss maintenance is outstanding!
3) When on LCF Kimmer had 1000000 times more patience than I EVER would answering the same questions
4) Kimmer is beautiful!

But asking questions is normal. And no I didn't agree with ALOT of what she said. I say, just take the parts that help you and leave the rest.
