Aww, Jennifer, that was very sweet! You WILL get there! I'll hold your cyber hand all the way if you want.

Caligal, you must know by now that low carb is tricky in the sense that going off plan (even a maintenance plan) can cause a very rapid gain. I understand all about being menopausal but... Are you really eating pizza and expecting to maintain? And how have you been maintaining? Don't take this to mean anymore than a concern for you cause you have come so far and I hate to hear this is happening to anyone.

Maria - menopause does present problems with weight loss, but craving yeast is not one I've heard of before. Really the best way to get cravings under control is induction. And I agree with Tippy - if you're eating pizza you can't expect to maintain. The biggest key to my being able to stick to my eating plan is to prepare my food ahead and to make sure I always have good food choices around me. That way I'm much less likely to cave and eat something I shouldn't.

Ladybugg I've gone from 268 to 217 since January of this year. That was a re-start for me after gaining 8 lbs over the Thanksgiving to New Years holidays. My original start weight last fall was 277. So my total weight loss has been 60 lbs with a few ups and downs...usually only a pound or two, with my biggest 'up' being that 8 pounds over the holidays. Low carbing and low fat is the way to go for me. I just can't lose the weight if I let the fats get too high even if my carb count is very very low. I also try to keep the calories around 1000 or lower per day, preferably on the low side. But there have certainly been days when it has been higher, but not too often and usually not over around 1500 even on my "worst" days. Hope that helps some

Thanks, TT and Julia for responding. NO I am not expecting to eat Pizza and maintain...lol I know why I am gaining cause I am eating crap the problem is I can't seem to stop even after doing a meat and egg fast my cravings are not going away. I have no will power at all right now I mean none. I know I have just got to get started and stick with it but that is the problem I keep caving. Maybe just keep coming here will motivate me.

Also, if you go back to DANDR he does recommend certain supplements to help reduce the cravings.

Supplements

T.T. Thanks so much, I am trying some new supplements I have been rereading my Atkins book and something struck me about yeast overgrowth so I read it a couple of times and went to my vitamen store and bought the Probotics he recomended and have been taking them for a couple of weeks now. I don't know for sure what is going on now eccept that I am so discouraged. I was telling facts when I said I did the meat and egg fast for 5 days no nothing else no sf treats or gum or soda nothing but lean meat hard boiled eggs water and coffee black for 5 days and no loss at all not one pound. Then I would be so frustrated I said the heck with it and ate and drank what I wanted like pizza and wine and or ice cream I mean like that was going to help anything and of course I have no trouble at all gaining. So it has just been a vicious cycle and now I am back up to a 14. I know if I could just start losing again you could not get me to eat the junk it feels so good to be going down. I just have to stop feeling sorry for myself and get serious and stay serious no matter what not cave and it has helped to see it here in black and white. Thanks again this really has helped alot.

Did you know that coffee exascerbates a yeast overgrowth issue? Here you are, trying to fight yeast and probably didn't know you are feeding it at the same time! Girlfriend, until you beat the candida and win, you have to swear off the coffee. (I feel your pain)

Some things which worked for me fighting yeast overgrowth.

1. apple cider vinegar tablets
2. oil of oregano drops in water
3. acidophilus tablets

You should really be feeling the die off of the symptoms if you were suffering severely. You could also speak with your doctor about nystatin if still exhibiting signs.

Sometimes it takes awhile to fight the yeast, and it will fight back. You might feel depressed, tired, crampy.

Keep going with the yeast treatment, and stay away from anything with molds, caffeine and yeasts.

I hope you fell better!

Thanks Linda - You're very inspirational. I'm hypothyroid so weight loss takes longer and I'm getting discouraged. I need a little jump start to get my motivation up again. Low carbs does work for me though, just lately I've been having trouble controlling the carbs.

I read several posts from people that said the photos look like different people. If you look at my before, half-way, and after pictures I think I look way different and definately younger. I also change my haircolor pretty often(drives my autistic students CRAZY) and wear colored contacts. I did exercise while doing Kimkins alternating weights and aerobics.

That was at 222lbs.

The next photo is at approx 150lbs.

Final photo is at 112lbs.

Lbecker, thanks so much for posting those. Yes indeed, you don't look like the same person at all. Oh....and you looking AMAZING!!

I'll be at goal in a week or two, thanks to Kimkins, I will be interested to post my before and after shots to see if people think I look the same as I did at 308!!!! I mean, I have lost inches and inches off my waist, hips and thighs, but I never measured my face so I dont quite know how many inches I lost off my cheeks. The proportions of my face have altered drastically without cheeks and a wobbly jowl.

I have to go back down I have a closet full of nice cloths all size 10. What about tea? And how long to give up coffee? I know to give up cheese and mushrooms don't eat them ever anyway and nuts I mean I have the list but did not know about coffee, hummm might be part of the problem.

You do look like the same person, your size might be different, your hair might be different, but your face is your face.

I lost 120 pounds in 2000 by fasting on and off + atkins , and people that knew me when I was 240 pounds and then saw me at 120 pounds did not know I was the same person , when I met my current husband he saw a video of my 3rd childs birth when I was at my highest weight of 240 he said Lisa thats not you!
my face changed so much and now that I am up to 178 . he says I dont look like I did when I was 120.it makes me very sad when he says that. my avatar pic is me at 126 pounds . so thats my goal to get down to ,then maintain. oh and about Kimmers pics I think they look different too. its amazing the changes that weightloss can make and you would be amazed at what they can do with pictures now days .I have paint shop pro and touching up my pics I can make myself look young and hot too. lol. alot of the models you see in the magazines now days the pictures are touched up alot to make them look perfect.

Hmmm...wish I thought of measuring my face before. I did keep track of inches lost, but not in my face. That is where I showed alot of my weight too. Good idea.

It's a bummer about the coffee, but it's true. You want to drink herbal teas only, and make sure they're no-carb (I was surprised to find out some teas have carbs). Definitely look into the supplements. They're Dr Atkins recommended and they work!

As for coffee, you might not want to bring it back in after you get used to tea. Caffeine stimulates hunger, and that could cause other issues down the road.

If you rid yourself of anything that feeds the yeasties and take a supplement/cleanse, you should find symptoms should subside within the month. Sloughing off/dying off is only really noticable if the symptoms are bad. And if they're bad enough you might also want to see about nystatin.
