I don't think you can always tell by pictures. I was just looking at some on another site and I truly believe that when people lose that much weight you normally wouldn't be able to recognize them. I know everyone questions it, but as long as we are losing weight shouldn't we just be happy? Just a thought.

Sorry, I must have misread. I thought Kim posted that she knew her IRL, not only away from the boards.

True, but Cartbabe herself has said she did not stay on Kimmer's to lose all her weight. Here's what Cartbabe posted on the "Calling All Kimmer's Maintainers" thread:

Quote:
I followed Kimmers plan for awhile. I lost about 35 of the "last" pounds following it. My dear husband did tell me one day "I am tired of watching you starve yourself. You can't live like this forever!"
I admit that I did mention Kimmer in the interview for People Magazine. My intention was to offer it as a hope for people who are searching for plans which work for them.
Unfortunately, there are those who started posting and publishing that I was a "Kimkins success story". At that point, I pretty much have backed off on posting much of anything, anywhere.
I think Kimkins is a great thing and that it is helping a LOT of people to reach their goals. However, I worked a GOOD MANY YEARS at losing the weight, and very little of it had to do with Kimkins.
I have yet to see anyone post on that thread who has actually maintained their weight loss on Kimmer's plan.

Before I get flamed, I'm not bashing Kimmer. She taught me a thing or two on this board, and I know she helped a lot of people. I just don't think her plan is a miracle cure for obesity. It's very difficult to eat such low calories for long periods of time.

I knew Kimkins made claims of vast amounts of weight loss in mere seconds (being facetious here).

I never knew it could change eye color.

BTW, I should add that I do think WW took some liberties with airbrushing the eyeball color.

I think Kimmer has done well for herself, and I applaud her being a woman who has done something positive with her life.

I totally disagree with the eating plan, but that is my opinion.

holy cow now I have to justify just how well I know her? Unbelievable. I am so done. There is only so much beating one's head against a wall you can take. No wonder Kimmer left. So much for a support board. I am ashamed and embarrassed by the negativity and bashing found here.

I hope each of you finds the plan that works best for YOU.

I know some long time, supportive members got instantly banned from her site when they dared to privately question, some of the pictures in the ORIGINAL 'success stories' gallery, along with some other ethical concerns that had been brought to their attention.... Sorry, but sounds like someone with something to hide to me...

I am astounded....

By the cruelty and slanderous words in this thread. How DARE we judge ANYONE. I smell jealousy and pure vitriole. I feel like I'm in kindergarten class. SO WHAT if the plan is not for you. SO WHAT if you do not agree with it and SO WHAT if she has had surgery at any time to alter any part of herself. She is a HUMAN BEING and does not deserve this ~ no one does.

Welcome to 2007 and the magic of colored lenses, airbrushing and misquotes.

I have never been this ashamed of other people in my entire life. Show some respect.

I have seen nothing slanderous--just healthy skepticism. However when other people literally put their lives and their money in your hands, you had better be able to back up your claims. I realize there are lots of diets floating around, but when someone charges for a service then it gets into the realm of legality. Also when it comes to diets, they should be safe. Even if Kimmer is legit, she needs to realize that her diet is not safe for everyone in the long-run. Although I did see a blurb in the Woman's World article warning people with Type 1 diabetes, kidney disease or who are pregnant or nursing NOT to do the Kimkins diet, I didn't see any such warning on the Kimkins website--in fact the Kimkins website states that the diet is "perfect for all diabetics." There are no health warnings on the Kimkins website such as in the Women's World article.

KimATC - I don't think you need to feel you have to justify yourself. I think that people are just curious to know if anyone on these boards has actually met Kimmers in real life. Not just via other methods. So please don't take offense.

If anyone has met Kimmers in person, please post and let us know what she looks like. Which photo, etc. Thanks!

Please don't flame me - I am not saying anything about her personally as she has helped lots of people on this board - Kimkins does work but for me personally is too hard to do except for very short times to jumpstart my wl.

Wow. Who here is exhibiting jealousy? I'm exhibiting concern over a crash diet. As for Kim, I'm happy that she has found success.

Why is showning concern and skepticism causing people to fall on their swords?

It's just a diet plan?

This is a board for discussion of plans. I think some folks are taking a practical discussion about issues (and might I remind you--not people) a little too personally.

Kimmer lost her first 67 lbs. on a doctor supervised water fast. She discussed water fasting many times on this board...but this has been years ago.

I'm sorry but your post and KimATC's post send red flags to me. Why? Because no one slandered Kimmer, no one was being cruel. To slander is to lie and make something up about someone, right? Who has done that? All people have done is ask questions and point things out that don't make any sense.

The questions on all the "After" pictures are legitimate ones. Instead of someone giving an answer for it, we are told we are being disrespectful. And the fact is that KimATC never has said that she has met her in real life and her words were that she "Knew her away from the boards" and she get's upset because we brought it up? I would have said "Hey, I have met her in person and Yes, this is her".

I'm sorry, it's OK to ask questions. It would be very simple for Kim to say "Yes, I met her in real life", but she hasn't done that, has she?

People are just asking questions that bother them, instead of getting answers we are told that we are being cruel and slanderous? I don't think so.

That sounds very cultish to me. Like Cult religous leaders that you can't "Question" or everyone else will jump your case and try to "shame" you for daring to not believe the "leader". I certainly hope that Grape Koolaid isn't added to the Plan (a little Joke there).

Bottom line, Kimmer is a person, not the second coming of Christ. She is selling herself on her website (experience and advice) and people have every right to ask these questions. It's called "Buyer beware".

If I had ever considered joining Kimkins, the reaction of people Not answering questions, but itstead trying to act like it's evil and a sin to ask them would turn me off so much that I would run from the program. The reaction is truly like there is alot that is being hidden. IF you don't have an answer for a question...Just attack and act like the person should have never dared ask the question in the first place.

Judge Judy says it best "Don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining".

The reactions have truly answered my questions without really answering them.

I don't have anymore questions. I'm not going to beat a dead horse. I have gotten my "Answers". Thanks.

Since I have my answers...There is no more need for me to post in this thread.

WHY is asking questions considered bashing? No one said 'Kimmer sux, I hate her' etc. THAT is bashing. Asking questions is how you LEARN.

I have been on message boards long enough to notice that there are "hero cults." This happens off-line too but is especially prevelant on the web and now that Kimmers is "famous" you will probably see much more of it. The same thing happened on another website. In that case it was a man. He had absolutely NO credentials other than saying it worked for him. No medial studies, no photos, NOTHING but his own personal testimonial. While I do believe that testimonials are important, anyone can say anything, but if it can't be proved then I am skeptical. And skepticism isn't neccessarily a bad thing. It stems from getting burned a lot.

You still haven't explained why asking questions = not being supportive and not worthy to read and losing respect for folk. Why is asking questions bad again?

Just an observation, but I have noticed "Kimmer" referred to as Kim several times. Even in some of the articles and testimonials. I very clearly remember that Kimmer posted on a thread that her real name was Heather. I guess what sends up red flags for me is that we don't even know who Kimmer is. I always thought it was strange that once she got what she claimed she wanted - a thread devoted solely to Kimkins - she left. I never understood that.
This isn't bashing, it isn't disrespectful, just some observations. It seems to me that the reaction to these very legitimate questions (the woman is charging 60 bucks to join her site) is unreasonable and kind of strange. The best way to get people to stop asking questions is to just answer them straightway. Being vague, getting huffy, and beating around the bush only makes people more suspicious. I haven't seen anyone bashing or being mean except for the ones who don't want these questions asked.

Just an observation.

1) the red dress is her current picture
2) SHE did not coin Kimkins people here did and it stuck
3) there is A LOT behind why she is no longer here - ask her for details
4) Her real name is not Kimmer - but there are TONNES of people here that do not use their real name as their screename - but "Kimmer" is what is associated with Kimkins - almost like branding
5) If you do not know the plan, do not discount, discredit, or bash it.
6) Yes she now charges on her site - it is expensive to run, and should she not be compensated for the support she provides. The guidelines aren't rocket science - the membership is more for the support than the food list. If you compare it to weight watchers online, etc it is quite a steal.
7) as for the after pictures in the magazine - you should ask her about that because that really isn;t for me to say. But there also may be one less proof reader at that magazine. Not everything is because of the interviewee.
8) and yes, there was bashing going on in this thread. and a lot of insinuations.

there. hopefully that will satisfy the "concerned" If not, whatever. Like I said, there are threads here for support and positivity and I will focus on those. I'm taking the spoon out of this pot.

You have got to be kidding me. I am in no way, shape or form a "cult" member nor even questioning the questions. My point is we can ask our questions respectfully as opposed to always assuming that someone is "out for something". Yeah, she charges $ 60, it's called being an entrepreneur. Anyone question the founders of Weight Watchers or Atkins or South Beach. Guessin' they are a lot more wealthy than Kimmer. How much have "we" paid for other programs, diet pils, "miracle" exercise machines and videos that remain unopened in the box? $ 60 seems like a real small drop in the hat to me. Heck, I paid more than that weekly to follow other programs.

We can all agree to disagree ~ I just don't like the implication that she may be fraudulent. I personally do not even know her but have benefitted from her sound advice and YET, I feel compelled to defend the HUMAN BEING behind all this. Enough said.
