Keep in mind your $60 pays for more than just the "Kimkins Diet Rules". You're paying for access to a community of people, and to Kimmer and other people who have been successful on her plan. Of course we all know we can participate here for free, but if you are looking specifically for Kimkins help, it may be $60 well spent.

Just my opinion.

Honestly, I tried it faithfully, and yes it works if you "build your dominoes".... But I was starving all the time, and decided to go back to Atkins where I could eat till full, and still loose... Personally, I'd save your money and just go check out the Kimkins thread (on here) under Other Plans... All the information you need is there, and there is always someone helpful if you have any problems or questions.. Good luck!!

Wow, it's $60 now!? I joined when it first got started because I wanted to support Kimmer. Unfortunately I haven't been able to log in for a while and I've contacted them with no reply. Who knows? Still, I think if you want to give Kimkins a try it might not be bad way to spend your money. Lots of support for that WOE and no one telling you you're an idiot for eating such low calories.

I just read the article in Woman's World and want to start the Kimkins diet on Monday...is it worth it? Has anyone a sample menu as I work better when I have something in front of me. I have been doing Atkins for about 3 years and lost almost 50 but have gradually put about 15 back on...I am a teacher's assistant and am out for the summer and I want to go back in August as a new me.....I have struggled with a low self esteem for all my life and I think this might be what I need to boost it up! Any help from anyone is truly appreciated!

I just read her article in "Woman's World" and went to check out her site. It is hard to believe that she wants you to pay $60 to have access to a forum like this LCF -- where you can get just about the same info and support.

It sounds good, but like another poster said, I'd rather spend $60 on something else.

I'm a member of her site and there are sample menus in the WW article.
I have lost more weight on KK than I have anything else so far it has given me discipline and control like I haven't had in years.

I've spent thousands on other things this was money well spent IMHO.

The $60.00 is for lifetime membership with access to Kimmer, and Weight Watchers At Work is $150.00 for 10 weeks, so it's a deal. The question is, are you getting something from the official Kimkins site that you can't get anywhere else. Every person has their own answer to this.

As for me, I'm using what free info I can get along with the excellent support on this board, and banking the $60.00 for a really good pair of jeans when I bring sexy back - I mean lose weight.

Kiki, I'm surprised to hear you aren't a Kimkins fan anymore. Weren't you a major poster over there? Did the diet not work for you?

Maybe I have you confused with someone else.

I got interested in kimkins too, and started doing tons of research...I found her website, and it was $29.99 or something to that effect...I contemplated joining, finally decided to do it, and when I Went back it had jumped in ONE day to $40 or so...now it is up to $60 and I can almost bet it will not stop at 60. I decided like many of you that I could better put that $60 to use. Someone else pointed out to me that she is a business woman, and it does cost a lot to run a well built website like that...and she also has to employ a support team....so I guess I shouldn't slam her too much...(actually, I am not really at all) maybe I wish I would have thought of it..lol....but IMO, I am ever more happy to have found LCF because they have helped me through so much, already, and it didn't cost me a penny....the people I have met on here, are awesome, and what I really find pretty interesting, is that even though there are some people who are members of kimkins site, they are also members here, and they still come here..so LCF is definitely where I want to be....if I decide I want to switch from k/e to kimkins, or to atkins, or mix it up a bit by switching to the beach...I got one stop shopping....I would love to see some menus and stuff, though, to make sure when I am doing kimkins, that I am doing it right, and because it is easier for me to follow someone elses menus...but other than that, I think I get what I need here. Besides, sometimes, I spend a lot of money, get really excited about something, and then, like everything else, lose interest...granted, the cost includes lifetime membership...but, I just kind of have my doubts about stuff like that, at some point and time, something HAS to change...be it the "personal coaching" from kimmer herself, the definition of "lifetime membership" or something because that is what usually happens when something takes off like gangbusters.

No, you don't have me confused with anyone else...

I'm a fan alright, of the plan, by the actual orginator.. Dr. Stillman.. I've used that forever... Seriously, forever! It is the most amazing thing...

Spend a couple bucks on a used book, {he has 4 versions I believe, I do the 14 Shape UP, my FAV!} and also his cookbook, come here to the threads for the support, and you got it. A LOT cheaper! From the first time I read about this, all I could think was she's basically saying Stillmans is her plan.. There was one tiny change, and a rewording of a couple things.. That's all.. Altho I see on 'her new' food list, she lists some dairy now, that she took out of the original Stillmans plan.. As one of the changes..

There were just some things happening there that I didn't agree with, many being ethical.. I had joined just to be around people who ate like me, but things changed...

One major thing I will say is her 'OK' to use laxatives daily... That was a huge deal for me, since I have dealt with and ED...

I don't want to go into any more on a public board, if you get my drift...

Anyone interested, should also check out the Stillmans stickies at the top of this forum.. They outline everything for you...

Kimmer is not a medical professional or nutritionist so I would be reluctant to take advise from her. We all can do searches on the net to get the information she is passing on but some of what she advises is way out there. I admit I thought about joining but you can get everything here for free. I did some searching on the boards here and found everything I needed but when I tried the plan, I couldn't stay on it. Plus her diet kept changing. You eat less and less food every time you stall. I don't agree with several things she says like drink all the soda you want and no water and no exercise. When Kimmer first started posting about the plan she said she created she said she lost 150 pounds and now its 200? I don't think anyone can lose 200 pounds in 11 months without exercise or water and not have sagging skin and appear to have a perfect body. Especially since being in her 40's. I have lost a lot of weight and my skin is sagging and I haven't even lost half of what she did. Someone posted about the womens world magazine article on the atkins 72 board. They posted her pictures and she has brown eyes in some pictures and blue eyes in others. Her fitday says she never ate lower then 900-1000 calories but tells everyone they can eat as little as 400 calories to keep them losing weight. Your brain needs more calories then that to work. I think I read somewhere that your brain uses 600 calories a day? And again, why is her plan always changing? One change wouldn't work for everyone. People with diet books out there keep the diet the same and you shouldn't be changing, especially going lower and lower in calories when you are stalling. Its not safe or healthy. Something is wrong with that and I would never follow a diet like that again because I don't know if it is hurting my metabolism because I'm losing weight so fast and I was starving. I am doing Atkins and will exercise to tighten up everything because nobodys skin can snap back like that and nobody will lose so perfectly that their body looks like they were never that overweight.

How do you take someone else's program and put your name on it without legal reprecussions? She even admitted it's Dr. Stillmans plan.

In the version of Stillmans I do {14 Day Shape Up} he does say that ALL your liquids count towards the daily intake.. That includes diet pop.. Honestly, I've always drank it, way to much, that's about all I drink.. I never have had a probelm with it. .Losing a pound a day..

That's me, it may not be you...

Her telling people to lower their calories is one of several things that I am truly against and there is no need for it, none at all.... If done right, as per Dr Stillman, you will lose and not by lowering your calories so low...

And whoever posted that all the info she gives is out there on the web... EXACTLY!

As to why she's getting away with putting her name on Dr Stillmans plan.. That's a VERY good question, and one I personally have always wanted answered...

Here's the Dr Stillman diets she is using...

k/e is Stillman's quick Weight Loss minus the dairy
Dr.Stillman's ~Quick Weight Loss Diet

Kimkins is Stillman's 14 Day Shape Up plan
Dr.Stillmans ~14 Day Shape Up Program

And be aware, she has added dairy back in...

You have to watch for her changes, and changes in answers... They seem to change a lot...

Thanks for those links Kiki. I totally agree with you about her diet changing over and over again. I think that is a big problem because a change might be good for one person but not another. It confuses alot people. And no one can stay on 400-500 calories a day for an extended time. I have seen people also say they regret pushing her diet so much because they themselves went off of it because it is way too hard. I suggest if anyone wants to do the diet suggestions she proposes they need to take them to their doctor. As I said, Kimmer is not a nutritionist, nor doctor, nor has any scientific studies that she has conducted and I think you have to have a medical degree to do that to prove her diet plan and suggestions are both healthy and not hurt you in the after effects. If you want to do the plan, just be very careful and consult your doctor and remember that her diet is here for free so there is no need spend the $60 needlessly.

LowcarbFan,

After having done Dr. Stillmans plan for so many years, I have really gotten to know my body well.. I know I can do a little bit more of this, and maybe a little less of that, and have made my own tweaks..

Like you said it's not for everyone.. That's why we have so many options out there to choose from.. This is a very good thing..

Personally, tho I have never joined in activally, in any of the threads about it, I find the support to be excellent here!

Stillman's and Kimmer's diets scare me with their being so low fat. Do you know of anyone developing gallbladder problems while following these diets? My first gallbladder attack occurred when I was on a very low fat diet and, for that reason, I'm very leery of trying either of those diets.

After reading that WW article today, I was very tempted to join Kimkins. I decided to come here first and see what I could find and am really glad that I did.

Thank you!
Karen
