WOE: low carb
ideas for kimkins foods

I just wanted to ask experienced kimkiners about recipes and ideas about their menu. i am afraid to say that although i am doing very well for once appetite under control, feeling good, even started to work out a little, i just wanted to give this a little boost for a little while. I have a wedding the end of july and i will look great. I already have my dress which i purposely bought 2 sizes smaller and i am not buying another one. it is a 14 and i want to wear it. i read about the kimkins and want to do it, but i want to do it right and not mess up. i dont care about variety, i just want to lose. any anti kimmer plan people please dont flame me and dont be upset with me. this is just a personal goal for me that i need to do by all means necc. i know its not sustainable for a lifetime. but at times we all need to crash.

Hi Lovely! First off, why are you so apologetic about wanting to try Kimkins??? There are so many people here that are doing it; don't worry!!! I'm going into my second week on Kimkins and am PROUD OF IT!!!

Now to your question about food. I assume you know the basics (lean protein, no more than 20 grams net carbs per day, 3 cups salad, easy on the fat). I also added Atkins shakes, EAS shakes and just found Instone high protein pudding, which has been wonderful (I even add a quarter cup of mixed nuts once in a while: what a treat!).

I don't know how many pounds you want to lose by the wedding in July, but you should be able to drop at least 30 by then (assuming 5 pounds per week). I lost 5 pounds the first week and I'd also been living low carb already and don't have much to lose. I was shocked by how well this WOE works.

Hope that helps! Ursula

For me, keeping the menu simple kept me from cheating. I lost all of my weight in just over 5 months with this menu:

Breakfast: egg beaters (cheese & chive flavor) with a splash of hot sauce
Lunch: spicy turkey burger
Dinner: skinless grilled chicken breast

When traveling I used Instone pudding I found at GNC. Banana flavor is great! It is low fat and low carb.

Hey lbecker! I was just wondering if you are allowed to take the Instone pudding on a flight (if that's what you meant by travelling)?
Thanks! Ursula

I put mine in my baby's diaper bag. It comes in small cans with the pop-tops (like the mixed fruit cans). Close to 2$ per can, but it did fill me up and tastes pretty good.

Drats! I don't have a baby!!! (I checked the TSA website and that is the ONLY way you can take any liquid-type food like the pudding that's over 3 ounces.)

Anyone have any good tips for non-liquid Kimkins food for flights???

Thanks! Ursula

Can I ask you how much of the egg beaters you consider a serving for breakfast? Is that just one burger and l skinless grilled chicken breast with nothing else? What did you drink while losing, just water or did you endulge in the diet drinks along the way? TYIA!

I have a flight coming up (going to Korea so it will be a 12 hour flight) and plan to take chicken breast, hard boiled egg, and turkey bacon with me, You can keep a veggie serving this way as well. I will have it in a small cooler (One of those soft sided things that can be folded up when done and small enough to fit in a carry on)with a cheap ice cold packet thing, right before I go through security I will toss the cold pack. It will still be good in the small cooler for at least a couple hours. Once through security you can purchase a cup of ice and toss that in, keep a zip lock baggie in there for that reason. As long as you buy it inside the secure zone they will let you bring a drink, (or ice in the cooler)on the plane with you.

Are you sure you can get it through security though? I fly A LOT and they won't let me take anything through. Might call the airport you're leaving from and check that one out. Just a thought.

Oh yeah, LOVE YOUR SIGNATURE

I agree. I fly a lot too and I doubt they will let you through with a cooler full of food. Call ahead and ask.

Last time i flew to Kansas they let me thru with food in my purse. I do not think they will let you have a cold pack and not a large cooler, I am talking about the small lunch size kind that will fit in a large purse. That was in St Louis airport.

Good. I wasn't sure. I just know they don't normally let us here in Omaha. Where in korea are you going? I was at Osan AFB to visit my fiance who became my DH over there. Yep, we got married in Korea. Fly over there to get married, silly huh?

You really should check..... Overseas flights are more restrictive on what you can take....

I just printed out page with all the guidelines for my inlaws who left today for Europe.....

What about the flavored tuna pouches? I fly with those in my purse. Also, next to those are bumblebee brand chicken breast in the foil pouches.

I just have to chime in and say that these are the best! I carry them with me everywhere. I have a big zippered pencil pouch that I carry a pouch of tuna, a pouch of salmon and some Crystal Light packets in and it helps keep me legal on those days were it seems like I'm surrounded by sweets.

Actually yes they are! I'm the type of person that has to be in the mood for Salmon (I think it's because I had so much of it as a kid.) and even when I'm not in the mood it hits the spot. And it's high in Omega 3 which is always good.

Word of caution though... if you have felines in the house do not attempt to eat the salmon in the same room!! It's a mob scene!

Thanks for the link. I followed it and it has a list for food items that can be carried on, I think all is good that I wanted to bring. I will check into the pouches as that will be cleaner than chicken breasts. I can make some flax crackers to eat them on.

I am going to Camp Casey Korea, an hour from Souel. He is taking a leave while I am there so we will do a little traveling. I am excited and it is getting closer and closer.

i just started 3 days ago.. but i know of these jerky like meat sticks that are aprox 2 g fat, 80 cal, and 2 carbs each. and they are good. OSTRIM - you can get them in a GNC or order them online. not sure if that's too much fat/carb for you, but they are handy and pretty tasty.
