Kimmer,

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!
Even as a 99 percent lurker, your advice and knowledge is precious to me...

My question, and thanks in advance, I notice that you weigh 118 pounds,I am the same height as you and that would be my dream weight. I am currently sitting at 159 pounds and was wondering if you thought it possible to reach any weight close to yours by the beginning to middle of July?

I know in the beginning of your weight loss the pounds really melt off, just curious of the rate of loss when you were within 30 or so pounds.

Thank you so much for your time!!

But of course! Your timeline is roughly 10 weeks so that breaks down to 3 lbs a week ... piece of cake! Oops.

The trick is to stay focused. Think of what obstacles might get in the way. Celebrations for Mothers or Fathers Day? Graduations, birthday parties or the potato salad on Memorial Day? Are weekends hard for you? If so, what will you do differently?

Plan, plan, plan. Good luck and thanks for the nice words!

Bearski, how could I have forgotten the Walden dressings? I don't buy them ($) but people on this BB seem to really love 'em! Good idea.

I guess I'm a bit confused but maybe not.... I also thought M/E was Kimmers....but I couldn't understand WHY people were eating cheese, bacon and sausage. I thought I was doing M/E...lean meats, eggs...NO fats added...salads on some days with NO dressings... So..with that...what program AM I DOING?? but does it really doesn't matter as long as I'm seeing results?

Obviously, I'm not Kimmer, but it sounds to me like you're pretty much doing Kimkins, assuming your salad amount isn't too much.

here's the details of the two Kimmer plans:

Kimmer's Experiment:
originally posed as a 3 day challenge to see if you’re over on carbs
(if you lose 3 or more lbs. in 3 days, then you were over on carbs)
For 3 days:
eat only eggs and lean meats
not counting egg carbs, try to keep other meat carbs to a minimum
no "junk" meats: hot dogs, pepperoni, etc.
unlimited diet drinks, plain coffee & tea (plain as in no cream, half/half)
no alcoholic beverages!
unlimited use of artificial sweeteners
no cream, butter, mayo, cheese or other extra fats
(for example, instead of butter, trying cooking with PAM)

after Kimmer's Experiment…transition into Kimkins, based on 1992 Atkins

Kimkins:
For Kimkins, simply add to Kimmer's Experiment:

up to 3 cups salad veggies or
up to 2 cups salad veggies + .5 cup "cooked"

It's important to measure veggies. One cup of lettuce is a small, loose handful. Watch the salad dressing! Better yet, use a low calorie one.

Keep TOTAL carbs 20 or under—do not subtract fiber or Sugar Alcohols
No frankenfoods.

Yeah, it is confusing. This is why I didn't want "Kimmer" or "Kimkins" associated with M/E.

Anywho, you've done a very light version of Kimkins! And, as long as you're getting results, it doesn't matter which "program" you follow. Good job!

Follow-up to my previous question... As for "weaning" me away from heavy cream and 1/2&1/2 in my coffee to cut calories/fat... what do you think about a dash of HOOD FAT FREE CARB COUNTDOWN milk? It's like 45 cals for 1-cup, and I"d only be using 2 tbsp per cup (so 6tbsp all day)...

Also, would this help your sister?

Any advice on how to cut down on sweetners? (I use splenda packets and count them as 0.5 carbs each...

Thanks again!!! YOU ROCK!!!

Hey Kimmer,I am now on day 12.I have lost 15.5 pounds.I wanted to ask you if it is bad to just not eat at all for a day and then maybe barely the next day? I am taking my vitiamins. Here's a sample menu for the past couple of days.
Day 1:
B: coffee,s.f creamer w/s&L.(I can't quit my coffee ),
L: Nothing.
D: 1/2 a chicken breast in the George Forman w/ a little salt.
2 diet drinks 3-4 glasses of water.
Day 2
B:Coffee my way
L:Nothing
D: diet coke
2 diet drinks and water

I have NO appetite whatsoever. It just seems foolish to me to put the food into my body if I'm not hungry.Almost like a chore to "feed the machine."
I have enough energy. Like I said, I am taking my vitiamins,So is this okay?
Thank You!!

Kimmer I was reading old Stillmans info and u made this comment back in December 2005.........

It's a great boost for very overweight people who need to lose FAST for health reasons, or to get into ketosis QUICK.

However, anyone who's going in for the cola chicken or similar, it's all bets off for fast loss.

how is making chicken cooked in diet cola and different then all the people that drink diet drinks while doing stillmans or any other low carb programs?????????

side note.....M & E =should be meat and eggs Only, -if cheese is added then it is M & E & dairy IMHO

If you're positive that you're only going to use 6 T a day (hey, where's your measuring spoon?), then the Hood milk is your best bet ... and I'm sending an email to my sister right now! You're talking no more than 1/3 cup, right?

Personally, I don't think the sweetener has a lot to do with weight loss or not. I don't believe Equal, Nutrasweet, Sweet & Low cause 'stall's, unless they're being added to something high calorie ... but then it's not the sweetener that's causing the problem (think LC cheesecake). Some people swear by Torani or DaVinci and supposedly they are truly 0 carbs because they're liquid. If it's true, and not a "fancy math" answer they would be a good choice. I think Netrition probably sells them as well as local stores.

No, I'm sorry. It took years before I even posted what's there. I don't have photos of myself at home, either, only my children. I do a lot of volunteer work and when there's publicity photos, I always manage to disappear ... shy?

Cola chicken (or other sweet dishes) encourage people to overeat and then they're disappointed in the scale. There have been posts of "that chicken was so good I ended up finishing the whole thing". It's not the diet cola itself that causes a problem. This is the same thing that happens with the cheese desserts in Stillman's. Dr. Stillman's intend was for the least amount of food to stave off hunger, but show some people a fat-free cheesecake with Da Vinci and their calories zoom ... and they'll post that Stillman's didn't work for them.

IMO, even M/E can be high calorie. One chicken wing piece is 75 calories and that's without ranch dressing. There's so many variables. What I know is calories matter and lean protein gets a vastly better result.

I don't see any point in forcing yourself to eat. If you read the water fasting links you'll see that if you have enough body fat, your body is fine without food. Dr. Joel Fuhrman supervises water fasts for 5+ months for overweight patients.

Will your body use it's own muscles for protein? Yes, for 2 weeks, then it stops (confirmed by studies in the "Make It Fast" thread). We are always "eating" our own muscles ... diseased, old, whatever. Even poor people who have literally starved to death retained full size internal organs (heart, kidneys, brain), reducing only 1-3%.

I have done many 10-15 day, a couple 30 day and one 48 day water fast.

after all, I was also confusing M/E with the Kimmer Experiment for the longest time...not the plan itself, only the terminology of the name, but still...

Hey Kimmer,
I have been water fasting all week. For the last 3 days I have only lost .5 pounds. I feel a bit bloated and burping alot, but its not constipation. I thought I would lose consistently with water fasting. Should I continue or switch back to M&E

That's a puzzle ... the bloating and burping. What you have drank? Only water? What did you eat the last 2 days before beginning the fast? Where's your Fitday?

You are losing every day that you're at 0 calories. Your body has no choice but to tap body fat for the calories that it needs to run.

Gurl, unsweetened cocoa powder is 23 carbs for a tiny jello cup. You can't have it. This is why I recommended Epsom salts for your regularity.

Give up the cocoa for a few days and let your body get rid of those carbs.
