Either way I am determined to do this...How long do you have to stay on the salad after the water fast? My plan is, and tell me what you think, is to eat m/e for 3 days then water fast for 3 days, and the 1 day eat salad all day....then start all over....Do you think this would work in the long term? Thank you sooo much for all your help!

Generally you should take 1/2 as much time recovering from a fast vs. how many days the fast was. For a 3 day fast, I would give it more than just 1 day of salad before going back into meat egg... There are many threads devoted to just water fasting (see challenges: "Make it Fast"). Sugar free jello is not allowed on a water fast, but then again, nothing but water is. Some people still drink tea, broth, crystal light, flavored water... but if you are trying to detox at all, strictly water is the way to go.

I know I'm not Kimmer here but I am reading so many repeats here-- poor Kimmer! There are soooo many threads-- the search tool is very valuable, and I think many of the most basic answers can be found there. There are also entire threads dedicated to Kimkins, Meat/Egg, Water Fasting... and most of them have Kimmer's replies on them! Just my 2cents-- hope it helps.

But thanks Kimmer for taking the time to answer everyones thoughts & questions-- you must be a verrrrrry patient person

Listen Kelly, if I said you'll lose your appetite, you'll lose your appetite.

What are you eating? What have you eaten the last 3 days (or post your Fitday if it's public). Ignore the sticks, they're useless. One lady posted that she laid a stick on her towel and took a hot shower. When she came out, the stick had turned pink from the steam! Was the shower in ketosis? No.

oh no- I didnt think you were- I'm obviously not either or I would not have had liposuction done. I was just trying to answer Heather with my feedback since I have had lipo done. Im not sure about tummy tucks or anything sicne Ive never had that done. Listen, we are only here once, I say if it makes you happy go for it. For me it helped my sides but I was just saying that my fat in my belly did come back. (unfortunately)

You're trying really hard, good girl! Don't be hard on yourself, you're showing a lot of dedication and that's half the battle.

Here's just a few comments from your Fitday. I was wondering why you're still hungry and it looks like your carbs are a little high. Hunger comes from carbs and yesterday you had 26:

Tomato, 4 oz? By weight or measuring cup?
Avocado, 2.2 oz? .5 oz? How weighed?
Mozzarella cheese, .5 cup in one day?
Ranch dressing, 4 tablespoons? How about low cal?
Costco chicken, 3/4 serving? How figured?
Caesar salad, 1 cup? (small handful)?

Anything in the oz is done by weight...I don't always eat the cheese, but it was so low in cals and carbs, I figured it didn't hurt...it was 1/4 a cup in an omlet and then 1/4 of a cup on a stuffed bell pepper, but cheese isn't a normal thing...The chicken was a gestimate...That is what was on the package for just 1 and I didn't eat the whole thing so that's what I figured, but I finally found where I could put in ounces for chicken so that's what Ido now instead. I figure it's more accurate.

With the dressing, I went yesterday to buy low cal, but they were sooooo high in carbs. Not the oily dressings like Italian, but I hate those...so should I stay with what I have or go with a low cal,but high carb creamy dressing?
The ceaaser was a very small serving. I was at someone's house for easter and couldn't measure so I just got a very small amount....Actually it probably wasn't even a cup...I wanted to be careful.

It's hard to keep calories low and carbs low...I can keep carbs low and calories high, but vise versa is tricky...

thanks for the input...keep it coming!

willgetthere- were you already in ketosis? you could have the 'induction flu' which is totally normal. I get a headache and lethargic the first few days back on plan before I hit ketosis.

I'm ignorant - what medical need exists for getting rid of loose skin...? I'm in the same ballpark... arms I can deal with. legs are annoying. Its the gut/pannus area that are really un-flattering.

hmm...I'll wait for kimmer- I guess it could be the cutting of cals if it was a drastic cut from what you were eating. I would give it a few days and I'm sure you will feel so much better with lots of energy. Feel better!

Hi I am not Kimmer, but I know some of us that have large aprons of skin, can get boo-boos under there. Especially in the summer, with a gurdle on .
I have that problem with my stomach apron. No where else. I had 3 kids in 2 yrs. So that did it for me. But I am not sure iof I lost enough weight to even ask.

Kimmer- Is there a certin amount of weight you had to lose or is it you have to prove a medical condition? Thanks

In fact, I did my weekly measurements and I lost everywhere except there. That area is still quite "puffy" . I'm 5' 8.5" and I had planned to go to 160, but I'm now looking toward 145. This week I've lost a pound per day!! I hope to keep that up. If so, I could still get there by the end of May!

Thank you again for answering our questions.

Hi Kimmer
I was wondering how much weight you think it is possible to take off in a month of doing m/e with a few greens thrown in once in a while for someone hovering around 150. I've been screwing around since Nov. and now I'm headed home for the first time in over 3 years. My mother has threatened me and told me I'd better be able to wear some cute little outfit to my brothers HS graduation!

Not Kimmer here, but I found this board just last month and M/E has been very good to me. I weighed 153.5 on 19 March and 142 this morning. Only 11 of those days were M/E (no more than 4 and a half days at stretch). I followed the guidelines for "the 3-day Kimmer experiment." I did eat quite a bit of steak (v lean meat), but no junk protein and very few days with even a dab of condiments or added fat. I was lower-carb most of the rest of the time, ie usually under 20 carbs, but a couple days over 50. I'm sure you could do better if you are really motivated. HTH

Kimmer, you are so right about the magic of calling it an EXPERIMENT!!! I would never have tried it if it was called Stillmans, or something similar, but who can resist an experiment?

KIMMER! I dont know if you remember but I had posted the message about beings stuck at 303lbs after losing 37lbs last week well since then I've taken your advice. Over the holday weekend I ate carbs left and right deciding to rededicate myself monday(which didnt make me feel so good let me tell ya). I did so with your advice started at 308lbs sunday night and by eating 3 servings of vegetables, lean protein and going easy on the fats I am now down to 296.5lbs and steadily losing again so Kimmer THANK YOU

OK Kimmer,

I am sooo close to my goal now. I am approaching 130. My pregnancy high was 213 in early January. My goal is somewhere between 112 and 116 (I'm 5'1). I have been doing Kimkins and M/E fast plus 2 workouts daily. I pretty much have no appetite. Here is today's fitday.

grams cals %total
Total: 392
Fat: 12 109 28%
Sat: 3 28 7%
Poly: 2 21 5%
Mono: 4 39 10%
Carbs: 3 11 3%
Fiber: 0 0 0%
Protein: 68 270 69%
Alcohol: 0 0 0

At what point do I add in more veggies? My loss has been very steady. I averaged 1lb per day.

Guide me, O' great one

I didn't want to add this as a reply to the 900+ responses on the ask M/E kimkins thread but you can bump or move this there if you like...

My question is this...I'm 33, good HDL/LDL numbers and exercising daily with low carb and eating eggs for breakfast and lunch, something of a modifed M/E fast but doing meat at night (usually chicken or fish) and vegggies at lunch and dinner. I am paying close attention to my serving sizes on the veggies and proteins, using Fitday to track everything. Here's my question: should I worry that eating five or six whole eggs a day will give me high cholesterol and/or increase my risk for heart attack or, since I'm in ketosis, not worry because the cholesterol in the eggs will pass through me??

I'm sorry if you've already answered this question but I tried to search for the answer in your Kimkins thread with no luck just scrolling and scrolling and scrolling....i'm sure you know what I mean. You seem to be the authority on this sort of thing and I'm not one to waste alot of time so I wanted to go right to the source. Thank you so much for any and all input.
