Kimmer, I'm still having the cravings and haven't lost my appetite yet. Do you think it will happen soon? Should I go NO VEGGIES at all? I would like to lose as much as I can before DD's wedding Nov 4th. Maybe the fact that I am still hungry and still having cravings means that I still have carbs in my system? What can I do! HELP! MY WILLPOWER IS ALMOST NON-EXISTANT!!
How long has it been? Where's your Fitday? What is everything you've eaten in the last 5 days?

well, i've been doing LC on and off since august of 2004 but i've experienced most of my weight loss since i joined here this past November when i started to commit more seriously (previously i had lurked since 2002)...i had a looooooong scale stall during all of that when i was on cla/gla. but the trade off was a lot of inches lost the three months i was on it! most people think i actually look like i weigh less than what i do...i do attribute that to the cla/gla...i went from an 18 misses to an 11/12 misses the first 6 weeks i was on it, with absolutely no exercise. in fact, i only just started adding any exercise this past week.

anyway...sorry for the threadjack Kimmer!

thanks again Rita!

Kimmer, here is my fitday journal. (I just set it up). I started out trying to follow Kimmers Experiment, I think I followed it ok on Friday, but ended up eating a salad on both Sat and Sun. (1 measured cup each day). I just started Friday (may 5th).

http://www.fitday.com/WebFit/PublicJ...er=laurahayner

Wed I had coffee only for breakfast, a large 4-5 cup mixed green salad with a lot of ranch dressing (no croutons) & diet coke for lunch, and a large sized ribeye steak (12 oz?) and 4 spears of grilled asparagus for dinner.

Thur I had coffee only for breakfast, one 6 oz can of tunafish with 2 TBL mayo/1 tsp mustard/1 TBL dill relish for lunch, and about 10 oz sliced top round steak (marinated in fatfree Zesty Italian dressing)

I know the ribeye is high in fat, but our local grocer had them on sale for $2.99 lb! They are not something I eat very often because they are usually $10 lb and I can't afford that.

I was very hungry tonight so that's why the egg count is so high (6) on my May 7 fitday. I had 4 scrambled eggs for breakfast, then had 2 hardboiled eggs with a tsp mustard for a snack tonight. (I also didn't know how to come up with a TBL of sour cream and vinegar, so I figured that 4 TBL is .25 cup, so I divided .25 by 4 =about .06, right?)

Day 3 Kimmers Experiment

Poop. And another one too! Not a pound gone overnight.

I suppose that maybe I am just now facing the payback for my Friday night cheat. Dang.

OK I'm going on Day 3 of Kimmer's Experiment. I'm sure tomorrow will surprise me.

This is good though. I do feel so good.

Chicken, eggs, and garlic. Mmm good.

Someone above is asking about eggs on Kimmers Experiment. YES. By all means eat eggs.

You're welcome!!!

The measuring vs. weighing thing is even difficult for Americans and we grow up with the system. Many school systems are dropping cooking & sewing classes due to budget cuts, and most families I know have mom & dad working so there's not as much home cooking.

And then some people just aren't interested, LOL! My sister is a year younger than I am and took cooking class. For $10,000 she wouldn't know the difference between 1 tsp and 1 Tbsp. Once she made oatmeal cookies from scratch once and could pour the batter out of the pan, LOL. Fortunately, she's got many other talents!

What I'm getting at is that fewer people today are familiar with cooking measurements and differences.

Ouch! Cheating will get you. It smashes the Domino Effect to smitherines, too.

The weekends were always hardest for me. During the week I had structure (especially if I was working), but the weekends are more like a free for all.

Wow, you're smarter than me! I take the easy way by dividing 1 by 16 (tablespoons in 1 cup). You got the right answer, that's all that matters, LOL.

I haven't checked your Fitday yet, but I will. Off the top of my head, those are a lot of calories -- 12 oz ribeye, ranch dressing for a 5 cup salad and 10 oz round steak. If that was regular ranch dressing and you used "a lot", that could have been an extra 400 calories.

Until appetite dwindles, are there lower fat proteins that you like? Chicken? Fish or seafood? Low cal salad dressings so you can use a lot without damage, LOL?

Have you got a scale for weighing meat? You wouldn't want to do it forever , but try it for a solid 7 days and be surprised!

It's OK to eat while you're hungry.

Everybody, I'm trying to rush a bit because I have an early morning appointment to renew my driver's license. In California when you're in your 40s you can't automatically renew by mail. They drag you inside for a mini written test, new photo and vision exam (since many start having problems in their 40s). Oh bother. Well, let's get it done.

UPDATE - Thanks Kimmer for helping me see the light!!!

I am proud to say that I have changed my coffee routine/habit:

USED TO BE------------CURRENTLY
4pks Splenda----------2pks Splenda
3pks Equal-------------0pks Equal
2tbsp Davinci----------2tbsp Davinci
2tbsp 1/2 & 1/2--------2tbsp Fat Free Hood Carb Count Milk

I know for some, it's still on the high side for just COFFEE, but it helps me get through the cravings...

I'd be curious of the Fitday difference from before and now!!!

THANKS KIMMER!!!

I like to think of Dr. Atkins' quote when describing his program. He wrote "carbohydrate addicts will find it builds character quick." That's pretty much what very low carb does.

Many overweight people have poor eating habits. We didn't get that way from eating too many spinach salads.

It might just be me, but I find a restrictive or "boring" diet a blessing. I'm forced to stop using food for entertainment and heaven knows for anyone doing the Kimmer Experiment, the guess work has been taken out of food choices, LOL!

Go to Post #1, check out the very simple guidelines and start today! Don't wait until tomorrow because the urge to eat one last "whatever" is too great ... and will slow weight loss for a good 3 days.

Start now!

See comments to your other post.

Are you following Kimkins? If so, I followed Dr. Atkin's 1992 book of allowing up to 3 cups of salad a day, or 2 cups of salad plus .5 cup cooked so you're a bit over on veggies. Look on the bright side, less salad means less dressing!

The menu you posted was a little high on protein and if it's more than you need, the excess is converted to carbs. I suggested leaner (less calorie) types, or what would think of keeping to 4 oz portions but with lots of veggies? It would be higher carbs, but way lower calories???

Kimmer and everyone else, Hi!

Does anyone have a good low cal homemade recipe to recommend for salad dressing. I live in Europe and am having a really hard time finding low cal dressings. Everything here is made with mayo! They actually call it 'salad cream' and it tastes more like tartar sauce. I only found one lowcal and it was all sugary, which I don't like on my salads anyway. Yuck!

I plan on trying the health food store a few towns away, but would love to have something different than just plain oil and vinegar. Any ideas??

Nawww, no idiots here. Please check Post #1 for the Kimkins guidelines and the Kimmer Experiment (3-5 days).

I lost my weight per the 1992 Atkins book using just enough fat to make my menus work (no dousing). A poster on LCF dubbed my method a lowfat version of Atkins and called it "Kimkins", which I thought was cute.

But to tell you the truth, a different vision comes to mind. My Goddaughter is a huge Wizard of Oz fan and Kimkins reminds me of Kimmer + Munchkin, which I also think is terribly cute and reminds me of her.

Write a book? Just what we need, yet another LC book! I've thought about it, if only to have all of my yammering in one place.

BTW, there's a rumor that I lost my weight on 500 calories a day. Not so. Check my Fitday also in post #1 and see the ranges.
