FASTEST: Water fasting FASTER: Kimmer's 3 Day Experiment (long term) or Stillman's (original, not BB version w/ desserts) FAST: Kimkins or 1972/1992 Atkins OK, NOT GREAT: Atkins 1996-2005 I think transitioning to "old" Atkins or Kimkins after a few days of "protein only" probably makes people feel better since they're adding a dab of veggies, but there's no nutritional reason for it. Are you foregoing phytonutrients? Yes. But more importantly, are you quickly reducing your risk for type 2 diabetes and heart disease? Yes. |

If anyone was curious, SNATT stands for Semi Nauseous All The Time which is the feeling many have in what I term 'real' ketosis (as opposed to the fake 'stick' kind with no weight loss). |

Ok, well you said it was ok to ask!
You seem to have it all together, you have all the right answers and your current (maintained) weight is proof!.........Were you always this way? Did you ever struggle with this WOE? Have you ever had a problem with emotional eating? I KNOW this way of eating is the *right* way to eat and I KNOW if I follow the plan and eat clean I WILL lose weight (now that I'm on proper thyroid meds)......BUT I do good for a couple days, something happens to throw me off emotionally and I cheat. In the past couple of years I've continued in this viscious cycle and I've never lost weight doing lowcarb. I've even turned my DH (who really needs to lose 40 lbs) away from lowcarb by my bad "witness"! Were you ever like this? If so, how did you finally get it together and if not, what do you advise? TIA! ![]() |

Kimmer i'm bumping up HP's ???. What is better the M/E long term or the 3day experiment follow with Kimkins??? I just cant see how 1cup of low carb veggies or 2cups lettuce could "slow" down your results. especially if no sauces or butter. I read all the great results w M/E what is your take on it???

Some people may "need" 4 tablespoons of salad dressing on 3 salads ... whoa Nelly that's a lot of calories! I strongly recommend low cal dressing, there's a wide variety ... some so low they're almost free! The Kimkins veggie "allotment" is directly from Dr. Atkin's 1992 book. We need to keep in mind that .5 cup is only a tiny Jello cup. A big focus for me was keeping busy. Especially in 'real' ketosis where you're not hungry, not eating much, it's amazing how much sudden free time you've got on your hands, LOL! |

This happened repeatedly. I lost very large amounts via water fasting and a few years later on Weight Watchers (I adjusted for LC). But then there would be a "trigger", including my little brother dying in a hospital accident. No one can rationalize better than me: "It's just a tiny bit." "I'll start over tomorrow," (or Monday or on New Years or ...) "She worked so hard to make this special 'whatever' for me." "I don't want to be rude"Or, my favorite, "I deserve it." Eventually I got to a place where I was sick of restarting. I told myself I was either going to lose the weight and get it done with, or accept my 318 lbs and get on with life. I understand emotional eating very well, but I don't post on those threads because I don't know what to say. The decision is personal for everyone. |

Thank you!! I agree about the dressing its a waste of calories to me, i'd much rather have lobster meat or grilled chicken for the flavor.

If you're not hungry, how about a bit less protein (12 oz of chicken is more than you need ... remember the RDA is 60 gm) and 1-2 servings of veggies that you like? Keep in mind that no matter what "a" serving of veggies in any nutritional or dietary recommendation is only .5 cup and it's not too hard to eat a few of those throughout the day. You figure it's roughly 3-4 bites (seems so small to me). You've got an excellent lid on high fat calories, too! Good job! |

oh, yes i have a similar question because i know you say no lc treats, but i don't really consider it a treat-- instone pudding it's 100 calories a can and 20 gm of protein, and i'm not a meat eater, so eggs and tilapia all the time gets boring ok, not ok... for the kimkins plan? |

Wow, this thread is getting long fast, most of which are just comments (like mine LOL!) without a question for you. I hope it doesn't get too out of hand. Edited to add a question (since I was feeling guilty ) I understand the whole carbs are sugar thing (actually have known this since chemistry in high school LOL!). But I am wondering about fiber? Mainly asking because I have been feeding my son fresh cooked spinach (not the kind you buy for "babies", and it comes out looking almost the same as it did going in. So It seems it can't be used for energy the same as other carbs?? What do you think?

Kimmer,
When water fasting I start to feel bad/weak. I eat 2 sticks of celery or a Lc yogurt and feel better. Do you thinkby doing that I am defeating the purpose of the fast? Will I not lose as fast as I could eating 1 cup Lc yogurt and 2 sticks of celery? |

![]() From a weight loss standpoint exercise doesn't help all that much. Figure someone who is walking 30 minutes a day and burns 175 calories. Keeping in mind we have to burn 3500 calories to lose 1 pound, it would take 3 weeks of walking to lose just 1 pound! 175 * 20 = 3500 An exception might be people with obsessive or addictive personalities (and most overweight people tend to fall into these categories), who trade their food obsession for an exercise one. It's interesting to note how many overweight people also smoke, become alcoholics, use illegal drugs or are compulsive gamblers -- all addictive behaviors. |
