OK MissPrissy (how cute!). Your timeline is roughly 10 weeks and the best I'm thinking is 60 pounds, roughly 5 sizes which isn't too bad, including water weight loss.

This is what I would do:

1) The Kimmer Experiment for 5 full days (see Post #1)

2) Transition to Kimkins but really, really watch fat calories. Focus on a variety of very low carb veggies prepared in a low cal way.

3) You should have zilch appetite and weekend water fasts will do your body (and body fat) good. I start Friday afternoon until Sunday afternoon.

After water fasting, really focus on adding back nutrient dense veggies in small amounts. If you had just cleaned your bathtub, you wouldn't pour dirty water back in, right? Don't forget a Centrum.

I wouldn't start with a water fast, it's really brutal if you're inexperienced.
Okay I am frantically jotting everything down because I am going to follow your suggestions to a "tee". I have a couple of questions first before I rush off in a mad dash to the grocers. Are you saying that I should water fast every weekend on up to the 10th week? After water fasting, should I include meat with my vegetables? One more question, when I'm on Kimkins, will a meal consisting 4 oz of lean meat with vegetables(salad topped with olive or flaxoil mix w/ lemon juice) 3 times a day be sufficient?

Hearing 60lbs almost brought tears to my eyes because I know that I can do it with your help! THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!

Here's your post and my answer:

hey sweetie...I saw where this is confusing you, so i thought i'd see if i could explain it to you

when you type your answers to someone's question directly after their question, you are actually editing their quote...the LCF program will not recognize your edits as your reply and there has to be an actual "reply" in order to post. a reply is anything you type after the [/quote] at the end of the quote you're responding to. if there's nothing there, you'll get an error message saying your reply is "too short" but it only has to be at least one character, so just type "." if you want to.

does that make sense to you? and it's the LCF programming...not your computer that makes it this way.

Your shopping list should be pretty simple, LOL!

Are you saying that I should water fast every weekend on up to the 10th week?

Yes, every weekend. Stock up on a variety of your favorite herbal teas.

After water fasting, should I include meat with my vegetables?

Veggies only the first day (you won't be hungry), then add chicken or meat.

One more question, when I'm on Kimkins, will a meal consisting 4 oz of lean meat with vegetables (salad topped with olive or flaxoil mix w/ lemon juice) 3 times a day be sufficient?

Yes, 3-4 oz is fine. Again, you won't be hungry so as unbelievable as it sounds, getting 3-4 oz in will be a struggle sometimes. I 'snacked' throughout the day to finish my meals and got really good at eating cold food. Try some of the low cal dressings. Oil is 100 calories per tablespoon ... not helpful for deadline weight loss.

Hearing 60lbs almost brought tears to my eyes because I know that I can do it with your help! THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!

When I see people surprised at what's possible I can't stress this enough: Low carb was never intended as a slow weight loss program. Never. Ever.

You still have great triglycerides and a STILL have great HDL (even at 81 with the numbers switched back).

Also, the ratio I got (which is more important than the total) puts you in a healthy range, but I am paranoid about my math being wrong so hopefully someone else will chime in here.

Do not even discuss your total cholesterol with your doctor!!! Only your ratio!!!

I'm a fairly boring eater but this is what I buy:

Chicken: Whatever's on sale (remove skin)
Beef: Whatever says "round", "flank", "sirloin" (remove visible fat)
Pork: Loin (long tubes & very lean), thin chops (remove fat)
Tuna: Canned water pack (I prefer albacore)

Lamb & Game: No experience, too fancy for me but I think game (bison?) is very lean because the animals roam free (no forced feeding)

Seafood: I'm not a fan, but I think everything qualifies?

Others have had good ideas on "lean", maybe they'll post?

I like milk thistle, but it's not an actual laxative.

Whichever you go with, check the ingredients. I think most are only 1 gram of fiber per pill.

Your Blood Cholesterol Ratios are what matters.
I think my math is correct:

TOTAL CHOLESTEROL/HDL (should be less than 4.2)
Your ratio-----3.25

LDL/HDL (should be less than 2.5)
Your ratio-----2.09

Streaker,

I might also add that my triglyercides are under 100, my total cholesterol is 160, my LDL is 115........but my HDL is low and my ratios are not good.

Your numbers are great, imo.

All the doctor tells me is to exercise and take fish oil supplements (and, of course, continue losing weight) to try and raise my HDL.

Minus the pork rinds your menus look good! :up but this is for yesterday and today. What have you eaten for the last week? That's what you need to look at to "fix" what's broken.

Are you using www.fitday.com or something like it?

Good Morning Kimmer and Friends.
Kimmer,
You had said in a previous post about your sister "She had 'stalled' for a few weeks until she gave up the sugar free creamer in her vat of morning coffee," (sorry i don't know how to quote like you when you answer others ) Anyway, was it a dry or liquid creamer. The reason I ask is that I have given up the 1/2 and 1/2 with 3 splenda packets in my a.m. coffee. I switched to the dry sugar free which is like 2 carbs and 35 calories for 2T. Yes Tablespoons. I was suprised too, and found out I don't even use that much. It was wayyyyyy lower in calories and a 1 or 2 less carbs so I thought it was a good switch. What do you think? As always, what would we do with out you.

Lisa, she was using the Coffeemate Sugar Free French Vanilla (something like that), and it was the liquid in the dairy case.

My sister drinks a lot of coffee so it was a lot of creamer!

She says she attached to it because it reminds her of our mom who passed away when we were teenagers. She also said it's hard to give up because she's been drinking it since she was 9. Really? I'm a year older and I don't remember anything about coffee drinking in elementary school, LOL.

Now she's cut back to 2 large mugs in the morning and then she switches to water or diet drinks (she doesn't like water either, but she makes an attempt).

Hmmm, I'll pass along your "find" to my sister. Give it a shot, just be sure to do FLAT measured tablespoons ... not heaping cereal spoons (me). Be sure to let everyone know how it works out (mucho coffee drinkers here!)

Hi Kimmer,

Just wondering what marinades you use for your lean protein. Please share some tasty yet low carb marinades for chicken breast, beef, pork, and fish. I tried some SBD marinades (in the book) but would like to try a few more marinades. Thank you so much.

I'll bet the Recipe Room has some great ones, but these are my favorites:

Asian - Soy sauce, grated ginger, minced onion, white pepper
Garlic - Chicken broth, lots of minced garlic, green peppercorns
Latin - Beef broth w/ ground cumin, chili powder, orange zest
Italian - Kraft "Light Done Right" Zesty Italian, straight!

All amounts depend on how much you're fixing and I only use enough broth to cover the meat/chicken in a Ziplock bag after the air has been squeezed out. It needs less spices that way (see, I'm always squeezing a nickel!)

Play around with different spices and combinations, how bad could an experiment be, LOL? I also like a dab of A1 Sauce over a small piece of steak, pierce and let sit for 15-20 minutes.

OHHh I thought of the question. What weight were you when you had your tummy tuck? Are you still happy with the results? If you had drains/compression garmet, how long did you have them?

I was 145-150 which is a great weight for me and I didn't want a totally "flat" tummy. Some of those done on Dr. 90210 look unnaturally flat to me.

I also asked if a few of my stretch marks could stay because I'm very proud of being a mom and I didn't want all of my memories erased. My mom had 5 babies and would show us "which" stretch mark was from which kid, and probably sounds goofy to anyone else, LOL. As a young girl entering puberty, I found it very touching.

Oh, sorry, waxing nostalgic here! Drains & panties for 10 days, although I kept the panties for 14.

I'm thrilled with the results! I look "normal" now, no more pouch and stuff that happens with a pouch (moisture and all). It hurt but nothing unbearable, especially since I've had 2 c-sections and 1 tuboplasty and know the procedure.

Kimmer, I think you are so AWESOME!
I have tried to read everything that you have ever posted on this site , and I always seem to learn something new.
So THANK YOU.
I have a question, if you do not mind.
I haven't posted in such a long time, I maybe a little rusty ! He! He!
Anyways, I have been thinking about doing a fast and I would like to know what I could drink, if I wanted to drink more then water but not tea?
I'm not a tea person, never have been, I just can't really drink the stuff, no matter how hard I have tried.
And believe me, I have tried, it just wont go down... Ughhh
I would love any recommendations, suggestions, comments, advice, or whatever you will throw my way.
It would be much appreciated and welcomed.
And again, this is a awesome thing that you are doing with answering all these questions but then again for years, this is what you have done and you have been the BEST!
Thank you

Hi. I'm new to this site - signed up a few months ago, found it overwhelming and so ignored it a while, and then got over myself in desperation and came back to lurk around a week or so ago. I have found your take on the old Atkins to be refreshing and sensible, and just what I need right now. I've already lost 7 lbs, and that's with too much half and half in my morning drink and a questionable (but not horrible) choice here and there in a social situation. So, I'm feeling confident and excited to be making progress!

I'm sure I'll have questions and struggles and other issues to face, but I wanted to say Thank You! for a fresh start.
