Okay Kimmer, here's another one for you.
When I stick to the Kimmer Experiment, does my tea consumption matter? I know that you say you drink diet soda, but I can't hack the aspartame. Yesterday I stayed around 1200 calories, and had 2 carbs from eggs, but I drank a LOT of weak tea. 4 teabags makes 3 quarts of tea, and I drank 2 3 quart pitchers, so according to Fitday, I was at 10 carbs for the day. I tried switching over to Kimkins, but as soon as I added the salads back I started having cravings again. (I think tomatoes and I are going to have to part ways.... *sigh*) The meat works really well for me, and since I'm taking my vitamins, I'm not so concerned about missing out on things. Just wondered if I was shooting myself in the foot-- Boof

I don't have a magic answer on what to do. I wish I did because it would help so many. Being in 'real' ketosis helps. You don't want to eat at all, even a brownie just doesn't seem good. What has helped me the most is to make the 0 cal 0 carb frozen concoctions from Crystal Light and/or flavored 0 cal waters. Popsicles, Slurpees, snow cones ... better than nothing, especially in the heat of summer. This BB has tons of LC dessert recipes. The danger to our goal of very rapid weight loss is 1) self control 2) portion control 3) calories. Is our world going to come to an end if have a slice of 300 calorie LC cheesecake? No, but it is 300 calories ... assuming we measured right, figured portions right, and can stop at 1 slice with the rest of the pie calling us from the fridge. Hopefully others will have better suggestions. Mine was just to stay away. I knew one slip would stop weight loss for at least 4 days ... not worthwhile to me. |

Are you hungry? That would be a big question. If you are, find out why. When was your last "over 10 carbs" day? Everyone should keep in mind that unless you're physically measuring and weighing food, we're all under-estimating how much we're eating. If I guesstimate my quantities and enter in Fitday, are they really 1250 or 1650 because that steak was 6 oz not 4. Whomever is measuring (watching paint dry is more fun), keep in mind that meat/chicken/fish should be weighed, everything else is physical volume (cups) ... 4 oz of lettuce is not a .25 cup! |

If tomatoes are a problem, just put them on the back burner for a few weeks. Have you lost your appetite yet? The Kimmer Experiment is lean protein only (no salads), then Kimkins adds veggies back. I'm going to make a huge mug of hot green tea right now! |

No LC products on Kimkins. But if you're eating them on a different plan, be careful. Dr. A had written that "-itols" were evil ... until his company started selling them. If you're going to eat them be ready for cravings from the carbs and it's really important that you count all of the carbs. The SA thing is a lie, a clever marketing gimmick. Your body metabolizes all of the carbs, only supposedly SA are supposed to let it happen at a slower pace. According to diabetics on this BB who test blood sugar, this isn't true. Count all of the carbs. Count all of the calories. |

Actually, I did the three day experiment and lost 3 pounds the first day and then no more. I'd lost my appetite, so I added the veggies back expecting to just convert over to Kimkins with no trouble. Then I had the tomato problem.
I decided to go back to the lean protein only because it was much easier for me because I wasn't hungry on it. When I added salad back, my calories were much lower, but I wasn't just hungry, I was crave-y.You've put my mind at ease about the tea. I can give up most things, but I didn't think I could give that up, too. Thanks for all the help-- Boof |

Thanks!
Hi again Kimmer!
Labor Day? Really? I can lose 85 pounds in 5 months eating protein and lower fat/calories? That really sounds unbelievable! No, I don't have any veggies with my lunch. Just deviled eggs and chicken breast. Do you find the weight loss slows down at all after the first month or so? I'm thinking dinner will be lean steak and probably eggs again. What about bacon, can we eat that in moderation as well? I LOVE THIS THREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Of course 85 lbs in 5 months! This isn't Weight Watchers. But, you have to make an honest commitment to lean protein and salad type veggies. I read about people doing Kimkins and they're eating all kinds of high calorie stuff that isn't going to help with fast weight loss. You'll lose 15-20 pounds on Induction, then at least 3-5 lbs a week after that. Caveat, be sure to use Fitday and be sure, please, that you're using it properly. Pick the right foods, don't pick what you "wish" you'd eaten instead. One of the first mistakes I made was with zucchini. For some bizarre reason, if you search "zucchini", the only choice are "baby zucchini" so that's what I picked. Wrong. Baby zucchini are gourmet and the size of your little finger. That's not what I was eating, but I was sure glad to see only 1 carb each (never mind my portion was actually 6 carbs). For at least a week use an actual scale for meat/chicken/fish. Avoid at all costs using "small", "medium" or NFS choices. Believe me, our idea of "small" isn't. You'll do great! Plan your food menu at least a day ahead and have a plan each day before you get out of bed. Stay busy! Get out of the house. Cut down computer time (like I need to). Volunteer for a new project at work, or volunteer in your neighborhood if you're a SAHM. You'll suddenly have a whole bunch more time on your hands and you don't want to spend it staring into the fridge (sorry, my old habit). |

Stupid question...
Ok, I'm confused now. I have literally read every one of your posts in this thread and for some dumb reason, I'm still not getting this. I know you have answered this question so many times already and I am sorry to ask again. But.... what is the difference between The Kimmer Experiment, KimKins and Meat and Eggs? I know meat and eggs isn't watching calories or fat as well as having no veggies. Is Kimmer Experiment meat and eggs but with limited fat and calories? Sorry!

I had a dr.'s appt yesterday and had lab work done including cholesterol. Mine was
Total = 263 HDL = 169 LDL = 81 Tri = 61 My friend that works in the lab said this is high. I have connections and got my friend to run my cholesterol along with what the dr. did (thyroid, glucose, etc...). Are these good numbers? |

Okay I give in. After reading and re-reading this thread (which I love by the way) I decided I want to lose fast so I am going -to the letter- follow Kimmers 3 day experiment and then go into Kimkins. I am not 'unhappy' with my weight loss so far, pretty happy with the way I feel actually. But I am impatient and I want to lose it, and see it! Especially with summer coming! Seeing these posts with these great losses really encourages me, so thank to everyone here and especially Kimmer! I can't wait to see if I can post my great losses and progress too!!!!

When you get home, recheck your Fitday and meat/fat. The salads shouldn't be a problem unless you're using full fat salad dressing (calories). Don't stress, you're a guest in someone's home, you'll be back on track soon. |

My cholesterol has always been good, even when obese, so I never paid attention to that info ... dumb me. Losing weight by nearly any method reduces cholesterol counts and we need to remember that part of my cholesterol makeup is family history since our bodies manufacture a substantial portion. Bacon is high calorie and addictive (raising my hand) so again, it depends on the results you want. The best type is very thin (cheapo brands), cooked until crispy and drained. Can you be happy with 3 slices 2X a week? How will you cook the eggs? I like them in bacon fat, but again, that can't be a frequent thing for Kimkins rate weight loss. I'd really encourage you to grab a set of measuring spoons/cups. When you make your deviled eggs, the mayo should be "flat measured" in a measuring spoon by scraping across with a knife blade. It's amazing how little 1 tablespoon is! And 100 calories to boot! If you don't use a lot of mayo on a daily basis it might not be significant, but I like "wet" tuna salad! |

Drink up, play around with recipes and don't forget diet drinks make GREAT popsicles during the summer! I find adding Diet 7-Up or Diet Sprite to Crystal Light really livens it up due to the carbonation. Iced or hot tea is among the most awesome beverages you could pick. |
It happens, believe me. Better yet, believe everyone else! I just posted in another thread that my sister has now lost 50 lbs on Kimkins, dropping from size 22 to 14 ... she'll call goal at size 10. She had 'stalled' for a few weeks until she gave up the sugar free creamer in her vat of morning coffee, LOL. My sister, Jill, also exercises by walking 20 minutes on her treadmill every morning and walking with a neighbor a few days a week.
You're already ahead behind you understand Kimmer Experiment, then Kimkins. I think there are Challenges for Kimkins in that forum. Maybe that support would be good for you? Welcome to the Kimkins Kamp!
Thanks Kimmer. I will check that out. I guess I feel like I've been eating pretty clean the whole time, but I realize I need accountability, and more support, cause there are those times.............And I WANT what I see here, real losses!!! So I think I am starting tommorow, simply because I've already had some asaparagus today. Not that I have anything crazy planned for tonight, just pork and salad, still having comitted to this goal will keep me from indulging in those couple glasses of wine I have on Fridays! But I want to lose fast!!! Kamp? I love Kamp!! |
