Kimmer, the dreaded topic of constipation. When I ate a lot of cheese several years ago I did have this problem, but now eating low carb/low calorie with quite a few servings of raw vegetables I am not constipated but find myself only going once a week or so...I think that the amounts of food are just so much smaller that I don't go every day. I don't think this is strange, but where else but here could I talk about it? HA. Seems to be my new normal for the past several months. Anyone else have a similar experience?

There is no question that a 1,500-calorie, 10-gram diet will take more weight off, and more quickly, than a 2,000-calorie 10-gram diet. |

Certainly it's worth it, but the rough part is that the first 3 days is when you're hungry ... with nothing to help! What I do is The Kimmer Experiment for 3 days before, get rid of appetite, then water fast. You won't return to what you weighed, unless you return to what you used to eat. The best transition I think is to ease into a Kimkins type deal with leaner proteins and assorted veggies. If you check out Nady's thread in the Challenge forum, "Make It Fast", you'll read experiences of other fasters. In post #1 she has all of our fasting links if you're interested in more info. Nady does a new thread each month. There's absolutely nothing wrong with giving your body a break. We spent 70% of our energy digesting food. With that chore out of the way, it can devote that 70% to housecleaning and metabolizing body fat. |

Hope its ok for me to pop in...
I'm not sure what kind of soup this was, but.... Tamarind is a fruit (actually it looks like a large brown bean pod, with round brown things inside = the "fruit") used in Latin and Asian cooking. It is pretty high carb at 38g carb in 1/2 cup. And the tamarind paste often used in soups and sauces is a thick syrupy concentrate of the pulp that is even higher carb. |

Hi Kimmer, Did you lose the majority of your weight on Stillman's? I just started this today. I'd like to lose the weight (50 lbs) as quickly as possible. Thanks!

Kimmer First let me say you are an inspiration.
I have a quick question. I see you say M/E and Kimmers are not the same. I always felt like they were the same thing just a different way of saying them. What do you see as the fundamental difference? Is it just the lean meats verses all meats or is there something else I am missing. I see a lot of posts saying Kimmers in different or better than M/E. Thank You. |

Yes, tamarind is very high in carbs and I would imagine "soup" has sugar and thickeners? Dunno? My point was that if Antigone lost 15 pounds in a week, about 8-10 lbs was water. If she's eating high carb items ... even if low calorie ... she's replenishing her glycogen so part of the water weight is coming back, while she could still be losing body fat because of low calories. |

Kimmer, have you ever found you retain water after drinking diet pop? Has anyone else on this thread? I'm thinking of giving up my favorite diet Dr. Pepper. I always show a pound gain the following day after more than a small glass( I had 3 yesterday at my dauighter's B-day party while avoiding pizza and cake). It doesn't happen with non-soda type diet drinks. I haven't cheated at all.

Prairiemom, I don't but maybe others have a different experience? Since I don't drink plain water, I sort of live off of diet soda, flavored water and Crystal Light, LOL.

On the Splenda note... I've been trying to keep the family away from aspartame for a while and I've discovered that several of the off brands (Sav-a-Lot brands notably--also found something called "Waist Watchers" at a local market) use sucralose instead. My husband *hated* diet soda, and I got him to try Sav-a-Lot's Diet Dr. Pop and he said he couldn't tell it wasn't the regular Dr. Pepper. That may mean it's too sweet for the Diet Dr. Pepper crowd, but it might not cause as many problems in the long run. Plus it's typically pretty cheap compared to Diet Rite--which I'm *always* happy to see.
Good luck, Lisa

Hi Kimmer - hope your weekend was great!!
Quick question - what is your opinion here: As you get smaller your body needs less for to maintain or loose, right? Then why does your appetite not follow naturally? I am trying not to stress these days, so I am really trying to "let" things follow the natural course and see where it takes me. The part about your cravings being broken after the first two weeks was pretty much right on target for me. I vary rarely crave something that is not LC and if I do I can usually produce a substitute pretty quick. Its just this appetite thing is buggin' me. Unless I am sick - I am hungry!!! ![]()

People can eat a good sized meal (double cheeseburger, fries & soda) and not be hungry anymore half way through ... but they don't stop. The only "cure" for hunger I know is 'real' ketosis. Now that I'm not in ketosis anymore, I get hungry. But since I've cut out "whites" permanently, I'm able to eat as much fruit & veggies as I like. As much as I love a perfectly ripe pear, it's no match for Entemann's! But this is what works for me so I don't have to "think" about what I can and can't eat. Lean protein, veggies, fruit ... boring to some, perfect for me. What kind of carbs are you eating? Remember that hunger comes from carbs, so the more you eat (blood sugar surge), the hungrier you'll be on an ongoing basis. If you're truly hungry, a bowl of steamed veggies is a safe bet ... ditto on a bit of protein. |
