I bought a Rival Snow Cone Machine at Wally World for about $20. In the same section of the store, they sell snow cone syrup.I bought the sugar free cherry and blueberry flavored.0carbs,0fat,5 cals per ? ounces.I love them! I'm sure you can have them on any plan. You may have to be careful with how much syrup if your watching calories. It only takes very little to flavor an entire cup though!

Did you start drinking caffeine-free diet sodas in the morning? I would think if I switched to a Diet drink with caffeine I won't have any difference than I would drinking coffee.

I love this thread. It helped me refocus this week and get serious again.

Kimmer you are such a blessing to me. Thanks for your help. Last summer you got real with me about cals & fat and it helped me reach goal for the first time ever!!!! I am up now but in no time I will lose it again with your help.

Originally you told me to eat low fat protein & eggs to lose really fast and it worked like a charm. Somewhere over time I got confused and started eating more and more fat when doing this and was not losing as fast (duhhhh). This thread helped remind me of where I was going wrong.

Yesterday, I had 1439 cals and 49 total carbs
woke up to a 1 lb gain, but tom is soon, and i ate about 5 pickles last night.
I know my cals are too high to support the number of carbs, and carbs are too high if i want to eat at that cal level. But i have to ease into an eating plan, my food personality..crazy i know. But i feel like Im slowly getting there. my appetite is getting very little, almost null. Today i had a 12 oz coffee with a tsp of dry creamer (10 cal, 1 carb) 3 equals and diet dr pepper, ceasar chicken at mcd's 1/2 the packet of dressing. and i ended up eating the chicken and throwing half the lettuce away.
but i still feel like carbs are too high already. total 15 and im at 350 cals..doing both is hard!!

Good heavens, 20 pounds in 16 days. I think you beat my own record, LOL! So, how baggy are your pants?

You're too funny about the PO box. I don't want anything except for people to achieve what they're working so hard to do.

Of course you have to do what works. If cutting back both is too hard, then pick whichever is easier.

What kind of foods are you picking to get 1439 calories? And what's happening at 49 carbs?

Be sure your coffee cream is a FLAT measuring spoon teaspoon, not a heaping cereal spoon. Hey, eat the lettuce!

Don't force yourself into anything, that's just going to set you up for failure. Do make a conscientious attempt at surrounding yourself with good "on plan" foods ... donate junk to your neighbors and ask your kids/husband for help if that's applicable.

You'll make it. Check all the other success stories, it happens!

Well, we have an alumni! I'm so glad you've really developed low carb into a lifestyle. Without that, we're on the vicious merry-go-round ... up a few, down a few ... get motion sickness and quit. But everyone loves merry-go-rounds so we keep trying.

Finally something "clicks". Almost like learning algebra and the formulas make no sense. You keep trying and trying, wondering what kind of a mess you've gotten yourself into. Then, out of the blue, it's like being hit by a boomerang and YOU GET IT! Suddenly it all makes sense, you automatically know what needs to be done ... and your body start melting.

I love when that happens!

I go through a lot of diet soda (and Crystal Light) so I buy whatever's on sale, including store brand diet orange, fruit punch and 7-Up'ish. I buy actual brand of Diet Dr. Pepper & Diet Coke, plus Diet Rite fruit flavors.

So, in the morning it's whatever I've got on hand. There's not a whole lot of caffeine in soda (not the same as a cup of coffee), so I think which ever you prefer is perfect!

well the majority of my problem yesterday was the grilled chicken taco salad, no shell from taco bell..it had beans, and yes I ate them...39 whopping carbs, I think the website said 330 cals..
I ate a sirlion tip ceaser at a take out place with just 1 oz premeasured dressing..that was a biggy at 835 cals...its soo good, but yes a bad choice..just 1oz of dressing is 170 cals, the tips at 275 and the greens with just parmessean with croutons is 390, but i didnt eat the croutons, but i didnt subtract the cals either from it, couldnt be that much so left it.
then i ate some grilled yellow/orange peppers in olive oil with some diced turkey smoke sausage..it was 3/4 cup cooked with the diced meat..275 cals

OK, I see the totals now.

So, the question is ... what will you do differently today? If you eat out often, how about planning ahead on what LC choice you'll make (just avoid Taco Bell for awhile, LOL).

Impulse eating is a major problem for many of us, me included. It's also a major weight loss bomb and we all need to find what "saves" us.

When people ask for my best tip for losing weight, it's always the same:

PLAN AHEAD

Plan, plan, plan. Plan your shopping list, plan your menus the night before, plan what you're going to do about stress when your boss yells at you or you have a fight with your husband.

Life happens. Good or bad, happy or lousy. We can choose not to react.

Kimmer...that is exactly how I feel today. I'm loving seeing the scale move, my clothes fitting and me feeling thinner. I have struggled for so long with the *6 meals a day so I don't go into starvation mode* theory

For once...I feel like I'm not having to eat when I'm not hungry...I'm not obsessed with my next meal and I feel free from food.

I know I can get to ultimate goal and I know that I can look great at next months vacation (which I was dreading because I had no clothes that fit).

Thank you for all you have shown us all.

Marinated shrimp skewers on a bed of mixed greens. Tossed with lemon herb vinaigrette, sugar snap peas, tomatoes and red onions.
210 cal 2g fat 7g fiber all that’s available..

Fresh spinach tossed with tomatoes, red peppers, onions, almonds and topped with grilled shrimp. Served with bacon vinaigrette. Prices for half / full size.
No nutrition available at all

This is at applebees. What would you suggest as the better choice? I was thinking the second with the dressing on the side, so I can see if sweat and use minimal. I now the marinade is questionable as well..I can always ask for non marinated shrimp. I do eat out a lot..its definalty a lifestyle. I eat at home majority for dinner m-Thursday except when dh is out of town or I take the kids somewhere for a treat. I need to get into a habit of taking my lunch to work.

Well, see that? Look how smart you're getting! Perfect choice and always get dressing on the side if you aren't sure.

Hi Kimmer,
Well this is an awesome( yet, addictive) new thread. Thanks so much for taking the time to respond to each of our questions. So here is mine..... I have the date set, June 15, For my TUMMY TUCK Very excited about it, especially after losing this much, it isn't looking very good right about now, that and three c sections, yikes So, as of today.... deeeeep breath in, I need to loose the most i can before I have it done. I weighed in at 184 this mor. My doctor said anything before surgery would be great. Is it to much of a dream to think I could loose 30 by then.??? that would put me at 154!!! She said I would be suprised how much skin and stuff that cut off/suck out.HELP!!!

Sure, why not? That's roughly 8 weeks and if you're dedicated (having a tummy tuck on the horizon would sure motivate me!).

Figure you're going to lose 5 lbs of water weight and the balance would come off around 3-4 lbs a week. No sweat for 30 lbs by June 15!

PS, you'll probably lose another 10 lbs from the cut off skin & extra fat.

Leave it to beaver to have different questions

Well, before I get to my questions I have some FYI's

~Crystal Light has 5 calories per 8oz serving (the nutritional information states 0 for everything but it does say 5 calories for 8oz serving) those calories have to come from some source- we know its not fat or protein so it must be carbs - 1 carb is = to 4 calories

Sugar-Free Jell-O is 10 calories per serving (1/2 cup) again consider the source - we know already they are fat-free and 1 gram of protein = 4 calories & 1 carb = 4 calories so now you have 8 "what about the other 2" hmmm

WHY YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE COLA CHICKEN ON STILLMANS'S

because it calls for 1 cup of "low-carb" ketchup -whether you buy it or make it yourself your still looking at 16 carbs for the cup-at least (for anyone that's had it knows that there will not be any left-over)

AT LAST- MY QUESTION FOR KIMMER
When a person does a water fast won't they just regain all that weight back as soon as they start eating food again- even if it is low carb?
Carbs bind to water and so does Protein but only to a third of what carbs do so some weight gain is going to happen but I have always heard it comes back x 1.5 ( what you lost plus a few more)
Anyone that has ever went off plan from lc know that the weight comes back with a vengence
That's my question ( "Won't the weight I lost just come right on back, like I left the light on-for a water fast")

Kimmer your a Doll-thanks

I'm new around here but wanted to say thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!! I started Kimkins on Monday and as of this morning was down 3 pounds. I know that may not seem like a big deal but it's SUCH a big deal to me. I'm 4'11'' and should weigh between 90-115 lbs. I need to have a breast reduction (medically necessary) and am planning on getting a tummy tuck at the same time (3 babies, short frame-I'm not sure what hangs lower, my tummy or breasts!) and now I see that it could actually be a possibility this October!!!

So thank you, thank you, thank you!

You're welcome! What a worthwhile reward to work toward. You're a tiny thing at 4'11", and it does make it a bit harder ... but you're right on target with a good attitude!

IM2Cute, what PM? With my computer skills I probably deleted it by accident. I'm glad you found your answer!

hey kimmer,

you've helped me a lot already; i've been losing .5 - 1 pound a day since following your kimkins plan, but i do have another question:

i've read you have an underactive thyroid, and i was wondering if you have cut out soy-based protein from your diet?

thyroid problems run throughout my family, and i have many of the symptoms, but haven't gotten tested cause i have no insurance

so should i cut out the soy in my diet, or since i'm losing fairly quickly, just go with it?
