We The Undersigned........

In recognition that our health is our first priority and that losing weight includes a healing process (mind and body) and thereby takes time, patience, determination and a steady and sustained effort promise NEVER to:

~Tweak the plan that we follow (whatever it might be) or deviate from it as written to make it work faster

~Sacrifce our health for a quick loss which involves any number of one-food only or one-food-group-only "fasts"

~Jump on the bandwagon of the newest weight-loss miracle (hmmm let's see..."whooshie pie", cider vinegar shots, pills, potions or products)

~Restrict calories/carbs/fats/(or any other food group) to excess, with a "how low can you go" mentality

~Give new members of this site the advice to do any of the above.

You know it's funny I was just talking about this to my wife. It seems we have really lost the way here on the boards. I'v been lurking forever. South Beach, Atkins, low carb, Body for life, and all the rest. They have a plan and most seem to work. Just stick with it follow it and watch the results

Often times we look for the quick fix and aften times that seems to set us back in the end.

Signed. I agree one hundred percent. When my loss slowed down near goal, I started reading about all the plans people were saying worked. Instead of helping me, it got me so discouraged that I didn't know where to turn until some of the board members brought me back to my senses and told me to stick to my plan. I did and reached goal! I worry about newcomers who have been on plan a few weeks or even days and start tweaking, etc.
Thanks for this post.

How do you figure? We are not all on the same woe.
We have just discovered through trial and error that when we stay on our plans as written we've had great success. Surely you're not knocking success!

Holy Cow!! I just got back from a 10 mile bike ride and I feel like a million bucks. During that ride I gave this forum alot of thought. I've been a member here for several years now and have always loved the support, and the vast amount of health and nutrition information shared here by some very knowledgable folks. I've amassed a ton of fabulous recipes that I've been able to use for all occasions, and in spite of the bumps in the road and this miserable weight gain, I'm still very healthy and working my way back to being fit. I owe that to Dr. Atkins and low carb and all you people.

Lately I've gotten so angry about some posts. I've had to stop myself a couple times from posting some scathing responses because I knew if I did, I'd be banned from this site. I guess I get really tired of the patronizing and insulting remarks that are made. I may not agree with someones diet, but I'm not going to make fun of them for it. Ridicule and nastiness is not supposed to be tolerated here. It seems the rules don't apply to everyone. Whatever...

The point I wanted to make before I hopped on my soapbox was just this...during my long bike ride this morning I thought about just moving on from this forum. Then I thought, "hell no". I'm not going to let someones constant unsolicited advice and opinions run ME off. We should start our OWN thread and support each other with what WE know works.

And, here we are!! Thanks Dori for starting this thread and count me "signed"!

I'm in! I have just posted in another area that I am bringing out the scale and going back to the basics of my program. I have been gulity of "tweaking" for awhile which may explain my struggles of late.

Back to what I know works for ME while working on my patience.

As we go through our weight loss journeys we are also living our lives in the process. Shouldn't the way we eat be something we can live with? Sometimes when we hit a stall or bump in the road it is just our bodies saying, "hey, let me catch up a bit". I believe that if we fuel our bodies with things that it needs that weight loss results will come. I used to be one who needed instant gratification and probably would have tried a quick fix but not anymore, because I can't live that way.

um, yeah, me too. what is stepfordy about commiting to giving a woe of your choice a chance. it's not saying you can't ever "tweak" it to fit your body and your lifestyles needs ONCE you've given it a chance as written.

I don't feel commitment is stepfordy at all.

...deleted the rest of my post so I don't get in trouble lets just say I personally see some irony from someone who's plan is extremely restrictive LOL
