another Question for Kimmer

Hi, I know there are probably tons of people who have asked questiones like this before, and i have read some post that to deal with calories, but I just wondered if you wouldnt mind giving me your personal opinion and reasoning behind it. I am 5'2 and small boned. My goal weight is 100 lbs. I am trying to start keeping my calories around 900, but am scared by all those who think this is dangerously low, and could ruin my metabolism. I really dont know if i beleive in starvation mode, but I know that you seem to be alot more knowledgable on the subject than me, I would realy appreciate any info you could give me!!! Thanks,

Ryanne

It won't ruin your metabolism because it's a "living" thing and adapts to whatever your body's circumstances are.

Earlier humans didn't eat 3 meals a day (they were lucky to eat even once) and when they got snowed in for days or weeks, they lived off of their body fat. Without that ability we would have all died off at the first snow storm.

I don't suggest trying to keep at 900 calories. It's much better to end up there because of lack of appetite via ketosis. If you're hungry, take a look at your carbs and where they're coming from ... that's your hunger trigger.

But, if you're determined to pick 900 calorie days, you can do it with lean protein (even skinless chicken legs) and a variety of salad bar veggies. Even with a bit of low cal salad dressing you'll be in under 900.

wow! thanks for the quick reply! everythng you say makes perfect sense. I guess instead of aiming for 900, I will try and eat only when i am hungry, and see how many i get that way.

thanks again!
