Question for KIMMER

Kimmer:

I keep reading the order in which the body loses weight in your signature line.

Since dietary fat is burned before stored fat, wouldn't it make sense to follow Atkin's with as little fat as possible or am I interpreting it wrong? I want to learn more about this so I can tweak my WOE accordingly, but I don't even know where to look.

Can you either explain it or direct me to some past posts?

Thanks in advance!

I am not Kimmer, however, fat is the only thing that CANNOT be turned into glucose and effect insuline levels. That, I think, is the reason for the fat fast for the meatbolic resistant.

The quickest way to lose is cut out all fats and carbs and do strictly protein which is highly ketogenic. 1-2 cups of salad veggies will not hurt. However, for every 5 grams you add back in you consequently slow down your loss.

I am sure Kimmer can add many more details as well.

That was always my understanding, but in her signature line, Kimmer states that dietary is the last thing to be burned before stored fat. If that's true, then it would make sense to eat LESS fat so that your body can get to burning your stored fat quicker.

that would be true if you were not eating anything else. If you are burning alcohol, the carbs and protein and fat are being stored as fat, if you are burning carbs, the protein and fat are being stored as fat, if you are burning protein, the fat is being stored as fat. If you are eating few calories with mostly fat and little protein ( fat fast ) nothing is being stored and you have a shortage which must come from the fat cells.

Dietary fat is the last thing to be burned because it take the most work ... but it's not impossible (anyone who's overweight can attest to that!)

Dr. Atkins original book states that focusing mostly on fat & protein produces the quickest weight loss partly due to a metabolic advantage, but also due to appetite suppression.

For superior weight loss, following lower fat (calories) is the way to go. Check any of the protein-type challenges going on, including Stillman's, Kimmer Experiment, M/E, Protein Only ... and, of course, the fastest loss is water fasting.

I think the wording in Dr. Atkins' original book is misleading. People tend to believe that eating fat is either a "free" food or that it will actually cause weight loss! False.

Ok, so which is best suited for weight loss? Low FAT or Low Calories? In my post about calories, it seemed like you thought that calorie counting was unnecessary on Atkin's.

I'm confused now.

To a point, calorie counting is unnecessary. If you weigh 300 pounds and go on induction per Atkins, the weight will come off, and quickly too. However, the lower your weight drops, the more you have to pay attention to your caloric intake.

There are individuals here who are close to goal, who HAVE to watch how many calories they eat in order to lose those last few pounds. In order to lose weight closer to goal, your caloric output must be more than your caloric intake. This is the way of the world.
