Kimmer could I ask you a couple of questions?

Hey there by the way your stats are fantastic. I am sure you get this alot.

1. How long did you stay on 20 carbs and below?

2. Did you do restarts of induction?

3. Did you worry about your calories in the beginning of induction?

4. Would you mind terribly posting what day of induction looked liked?

5. did you ever feel weak and tired even up to day 7 of indution?

Thank you so much. I respect your opinions.

You may want to send her a private message too -- to ensure she gets the message. Sometimes a personal message on the open forum gets missed, like if Kimmer was on vacation or something. It may be on page 10 before she checks these boards.

Just an option to ensure you get the info!

Hello! Meyer, thank you for pointing out that I may miss many posts. I'm a foster mom to 4 teenage boys and since this is summer vacation I'm lucky if I get check this site twice a week! After all, what's more important ... checking Lowcarbfriends or downloading cheat codes for Halo 2?

1) I stayed at <20 carbs for 7 months and lost 160 pounds, including 11 pounds of water the first day.

2) I have restarted Induction many times over the past 20 years, but when I decided to "lose it or quit whining", I didn't cheat so I didn't need to restart. If you follow Induction as originally written (protein & veggies), you'll lose so quickly your motivation stays high!

3) I didn't worry about calories because I knew I wouldn't be eating much. Keep in mind I'm an experienced water faster so eating "less" doesn't panic me. I also did Stillman's the first 3 days to get into 'real' ketosis ASAP because I don't like being hungry. Mission accomplished!

4) I'll post the link to my Fitday for 3-4 months of Induction menus & food amounts. Most of the meals I had to pick at during the day because I had absolutely no appetite!

5) I felt great, but I did low calorie low carb and reaped the benefits of deep ketosis, which includes tremendous energy. If you're still dragging, it might be that your body is still switching over ... of if you're calories are too high, maybe it's different (the ketosis feeling)? Be sure to take a Centrum type vitamin and really take a look at what you're eating.

Verde, if you want to lose ... seriously lose ... focus on lean protein (not double cheeseburgers for example) and salad type veggies with lower cal dressing (the Italian ones are fabulous!)

You will lose your appetite pretty much (ketosis) and go with that. Don't force yourself to eat, but when you do pick protein bites (not squares of an Atkins bar for example!)

OT but as a network security admin I must point out that "cheat codes" is the number one "hook" for web sites that load malware onto PCs. There is no easier way to find trouble than searching for cheat codes. The "bad guys" pry on the naivety of kids as a way to get into Mom or Dad's PC or home network. Nasty infections like CoolWebSearch and Nail.exe are almost impossible to clean. They might keep you away from LC Friends longer than a few days.

Sequim, now that you mention it this barely $249 computer is running totally slow and I have to reboot often. Is this a sign/symptom?

Any suggestions/directions I can offer the kids? Any other type sites to avoid?

[Edit] I re-read that and realized that the Halo2 stuff was probably for the kids.. I thought I had found the perfect woman )

[Edit again] Porn sites and "warez" (pirated software) sites are probably the worst, even more so than game cheat sites.

Kimmer,
Definite signs of spyware. Classic. For my "users" at work I usually recommend Webroot's Spy Sweeper. There are other freeware things like AdAware and Spybot (I use both as well) but Spy Sweeper is easy to use and with the updates keeps up pretty well with new exploits. At $29 it's fairly inexpensive insurance. It not only cleans pretty well but blocks new infections.

I understand CA-Pest Patrol has a home version as well for about the same price. I used the server version on our network and it has been fairly solid in blocking malware.

All it takes is visiting one wrong web site - just viewing, not even downloading anything - and BAM! you're infected. Most load programs in the background that drastically slowdown the PC.

CroakerJoe,
Mostly adults look for porn and pirated software and have protection or are careful. Kids and cheat codes for games became a weak spot in most defenses and the malware makers jumped on it.

OMG Kimmer,

All the men in my family are Halo 2 fanatics. They're all anxiously awaiting for the new xbox to come out. Most of them are even online playing this stuff. I'm currently playing Sims 2.

Uh, you don't have any teenaged boys in the house, do you. I'd be willing to bet that a good portion of porn site traffic is by under aged users.. especially the ones that offer free "previews" and I'm certain that 90% of users of "warez" sites are kids. I have no way of proving it but I have reason to know. I too work in the business (computers, not porn lol) and am also active in the gaming community.

Heck, many of the pirate sites are run by kids and so called "script kiddies" are responsible for a large portion of the malware out there (they don't write it, they just get it from those who do and spread it around for all to enjoy.) Back in the 80's and early 90's, I had a lot of contact with the hacker community, both legal and illegal and almost all of them were kids... usually very bright kids.

Wow, nice thread hi-jack, eh?

Sequium, I use the Ad-aware and Spybot, Love it. Reccommend them both to customers all the time. (and AVG) *end ThreadJack*

Sequim, as always, thanks a bunch! I had thought "sweepers" weren't effective because they outdate so quickly. I had forgotten about updates. Another opinion please? I use AOL (hey, it has pretty pictures!) and use parental controls which limits where the kids can go and tells me where they've been. I ended up changing everyone to 18+ access with a report to me because 16+ access was so restrictive they couldn't even access the Lego website (we have some champion builders!) My question is one of the boys who has left told me that they could go to a certain website which is innocent and use it as a jumping off point to go to non-allowed websites. Is this true and do you know which one(s) it is?

Croaker, I'd accept your proposal but I couldn't bear to mislead you, LOL. No way I'm a gamer ... I actually think they're kinda of the anti-Christ. One redeeming quality however, is the incentive for the boys to earn money. They're dying for a PSP and have shown superb team building, negotiating and resource allocation skills to get one!

Awww! But that's ok. As I said, I'm extremely married already. But the idea of a woman that didn't object to my passion for computer games is a dream of mine

(yes, I'm 45 years old and love video games.. A passion I never had till I was 30 or so. I'm just an over grown teenager, I guess...)

Yep, Croaker, that's exactly what two of my three teenaged sons did. I'm thinking they're just on the computer looking up cheat codes and playing arcade games. But NOOOOOO.......they're visiting sites called "T*ts and A$$" and things like that. I probably never would have found out but middle son had to call me at work when he went to a site that had a flashing spyware warning that he couldn't get rid of!!!

The computer is slow as heck and loaded with spyware. I NEVER use it anymore. I got a new one and THEY WILL NEVER USE IT!!!!!
