Kimmer Experiment
I am wondering for those that have done this 3 day experiment, what do you do when your done? Induction? OWL?
I am afraid that if I go on this 3 day plan (and maybe even stay there longer than 3 days) that when I go to induction or owl I will immediately put back the weight. I mean really sticking to induction. Any ideas? Experiences. I want to start tomorrow, but I have this one issue bugging me. Thanks, Kathy ![]() |

I don't think the Kimmer Experiment was meant necessarily for the weight loss so much as it was for the way it gets you into 'ketosis'. So that you're rid of the cravings and likely the urge to overeat (even legal foods).
![]() I know that there are people who are sticking with it for the weight loss...I was told quite firmly that this WAS their LC plan of choice, which is okay if that's the way you want to eat for the rest of your life....more power to them. |

Kimmer stated the following..........
The idea behind the Experiment is show to people who have never been in what I term 'real' ketosis, what it feels like ... and the superior weight loss that goes with it! Some may stay on for longer than 3-5 days, although boredom is a factor. Others will hopefully transition to beginning phases of other LC plans: 1) This is Stillman's if you prefer a bit of cottage cheese 2) This is '72 Atkins if you prefer a bit of cheese and 3 cups of salad type veggies 3) This is Kimkins if you add up to 3 cups of salad veggies The important thing to realize about the Experiment is what your body does in the absence of carbs. That's important! And, for those who had nearly unbelievable losses this is a good time to review your pre-Experiment carb intake ... you were "over" or you wouldn't have lost so much so fast!

I have done the 3 day experiment. It's great for getting you back into ketosis quickly in a few days (or up to 4-5 days depending upon how much you have carbed up prior). I will usually have less than 10 carbs a day, the average being about 6-7 carbs. You can keep up this WOE for as long as you wish, but the food choices get boring.
When adding back in carbs, do it very slowly, I usually will add a very small (maybe 1/2 to 3/4 c. of salad) for one meal during the day usually at lunch....I don't use any dressing on it, either. You may gain just a little bit back once you add the veggies, but when your body gets adjusted again, it will come back off. The initial loss from the 3 day experiment will far outweigh the gain when you add carbs back very slowly. I average 3-5 lb loss in 3 days, or 5-7 pounds in a week (7 days). When I add the salad back in, sometimes I gain 2-3 pounds back in a matter of a few days, but it comes back off quickly.

I did well on Kimmer's--stayed with it for about 12 days and lost 10 lbs the first week. It got me into ketosis and gave me a good outlook on what my body can and can't handle. I wasn't ready to give up--and I admit that during the time, I also had cream and some cheese. I never thought I could live without them. Then, I fumbled on the Stillman's challenge (Stillman Crew) and said no way--but here I am on day 4 and have lost an additional 4 lbs. Stillman's is more boring that Kimmer's--I'm eating pure meat only even though you are allowed some cottage cheese, etc.
I plan to keep this up for a week--then gradually work my way back toward the Atkins induction and go from there. I think Stillmans (or Kimmer's) is a great way to get into ketosis and I plan to use it during the week before TOM to control cravings. Lucky4 |

Thank you all!
Your replies have helped and I am on day 1 now of Kimmers and honestly already feel great. My cravings are subsiding. I just had two hard boiled eggs. Will have a steak for dinner.Kathy ![]() |

im trying my own carb ladder approach, kind of like atkins after induction. for the first week i did the experiment (5c/day) every week after that, i add 5 carbs until i start to stall (go back 5) or cheat (start again at the beginning - pretty good incentive not to cheat!) so far it works, i think. i started at 152 and now im at 146.5, its been about a week and a half.
