Can't shake this out of sorts feeling

I just don't know what's wrong with me. I'm bloated and tummy's all rumbly. Rings tight, legs swollen and I can't shake the nagging feeling I've done something to blow my diet even though I haven't. I'm not sure how to describe it, out of sorts I guess. But why? I'm losing well I'm doing rotations it doesn't make sense.

Could it be TOM or just plain old bloat?
I have been having issues myself with water retention. Rings tight, feet swollen, etc... But in a day or 2 it seems to sort itself out.

dixiegal, have you been sticking to one type of food for a long time? Like on DD, I usually have cabbage/veggie soup and sometimes it just doesn't agree with me. Maybe your electrolytes are off?

Hope you feel better soon.

I'm menopausal so tom has been out of the picture for years, but yes from what I remember that's how I feel like I'm pms'ing. I'm bad about retaining but this feels different.

No I eat a pretty good variety of foods. If I felt sick I'd say I'm coming down with something but this has been going on for days so I think if I where getting sick I would be by now. Could be electrolytes I guess though usually I get irregular heart beat with that.

When we lose fat, stored hormones can be released. Could you be having PMS due to stored estrogen/progesterone being let back into your bloodstream?

I guess it's possible. I've been under a good deal of stress the last few weeks. A couple nights ago I had a terrible anxiety attack and had to wake my husband to sit with me. Before menopause I used to have them often especially right before TOM and sometimes right after. I assumed it was from stress but now I'm wondering. Yesterday morning as soon as I woke up I started crying for no reason... that's just not like me!Whatever it is I hope it passes soon!

Hugs to you Dixiegal! I was going to suggest released estrogen as a culprit as well. My hot flashes have gotten worse as I started to lose a bit of weight. I think it is the hormonal impact and I had a "feel like crying for no reason" day last week that I chalked up to hormones as well. It passed in a day and hopefully yours will pass soon too. Hang on!!!

Stored fat being burned can release all manor of things back into our systems. Allergens, inflammatories, as well as hormones. Anything that is fat soluble. I sure hope you can get over these feelings real fast!

Sympathies for this as sometimes we just get out of sorts and feel that way physically even when we're not as bloated etc. as we feel.

However, monitor yourself, and if it continues, consult your GP/OB-GYN as needed, yes?

I agree with all that's been suggested so far. I also wonder if it could be any of these counting in?

- Change of seasons makes me feel 'off', often
- Onset of holidays is STRESSFUL
- You've lost so fast. Maybe it's time for a diet break? Dieting is stressful too and you must be hitting it hard.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone. Honestly I've never gave much thought to what was being released into my body along with the fat flushing out.

Having fibromyalgia I know toxins build up in the fibers surrounding the muscles and trigger points. My fibro has been so much better the last month. Better than it has been since I gained my weight back. It makes sense but I never would have thought of it Just knowing what might be causing it helps better than thinking I'm going off the deep end. Knowing a cause allows me to tell myself it will pass.

Think I'll increase my fluids and vitamin C to help flush everything out. I also went back and checked my journal since juddd'ing and saw a pattern emerge at least once a month where I felt not in control so hormones could certainly be playing a part too.

I googled, 'when losing fat what toxins are released into the body' and found many articles about this subject. Some of the symptoms are what I was trying to describe. Interesting. I makes me wonder if I should slow it down awhile or just keep going at a good clip as long as possible before my body slows it down. My first thought is lose it as fast as I safely can and get it over with!

If you are losing well and feel well most of the time I would say to keep on keeping on, but you can certainly try a maintenance break. I took a 3 week maintence break when I was ten pounds from goal. I needed it mentally. I slid into goal about 6 weeks after I went back to WLM.

I've been thinking of giving maintenance a trial run after the holidays. If can knock off another 10 pounds by then I'll be 15 from goal. Right now I'm pretty terrified of maintenance.

Dixie, my mom has trouble keeping her sodium in the proper range. When it's low she feels wretched. She has had to be hospitalized three times for it.
Since your fingers are swelling and you feel bloated, low sodium is probably not the problem, but it could be other electrolytes out of balance.
Your doctor can do a blood test and check to see if it might be electrolyte imbalance.
I hope you find what it is and feel better soon. You've been making such great progress!

If it hormones in your stored fat then won't you have to deal with them anyway? Now or later, they'll still have to be delt with.
As long as your losing steady (trend line wise) I would stick your plan and get to ether a slow down stall, or 10lbs from goal.
I say this as you have inspired me so much to get this extra fat off my body once and for all.
I haves bounced around from 236 to 122 with 178 being my new oh crap I gotta diet number. (This time I caught it at 158) Next time I won't let myself get over 135!

I am low carb but am adding in JUDDD to get it off faster. The hormone thing explains a lot in my case as well. Hmmm. I give you cyber hugs and support vibes! I look forward to you posting about your maintenance success years from now!

Everyone here is so supportive to all of you! The bloating is somewhat better and my stomach has settled down. Still all fluffy and retaining some fluid but not near as bad. My mood is much better! Sometimes I think we just have to know what's going on in our bodies to better deal with it.

I'm glad to hear you're feeling better! It's so hard to remember in the moment that those feelings are temporary and time will usually resolve them. Still doesn't make it easier. Keep feeling better and better!
